INTRODUCTION
Diversity is defined as a multi-dimensional mixture of people who vary by age, gender, race, religion, or life-style. Workplace diversity refers to variety and multiformity in the workplace. This multiformity can be driven in numerous ways; demographic composition of geographical location, an aging population, increasing presence of women in the workplace to mention a few. In this paper we examine how diversity can be manages using operant and social learning practices to reduce the incidence of workplace stereotypes.
Diversity in the workplace
With market globalization and international competition, firms have come to realise that a diverse workplace is a strong competitive advantage in today’s markets. It helps to attract a diverse customer base and provides new perspectives in an organization. We see diversity initiatives being implemented to improve corporate productivity and performance.
Multiformity in the workplace introduces an element of heterogeneity in problem solving /decision-making. This leads to a larger range of perspectives and stronger critical analysis of issues2

The diversity of an organization’s workforce and taking affirmative steps to attract, develop and retain diverse employees has become an essential component to business success. It is to encourage managers to use all resources when recruiting to enhance the cultural diversity in their work place as “dynamic atmosphere of collaboration”.
UNC Asheville’s vision of a diverse and inclusive community excites me. One of my main expectations of college is the opportunity to reach beyond my comfort zone, make new connections and broaden my view of the world. I can’t wait to join a college community emphasizing tolerance, respect for others and diversity in addition to providing a quality education. Diversity is the piece that makes the modern workforce so amazingly unique and challenging at the same time. Valuing diversity means creating a work environment that respects and includes differences, recognizing the unique contributions these differences can bring, and maximizing the potential of all employees and the company. In The Loudest Duck, the author describes what often happens when diverse individuals enter the modern diverse workplace. Liswood gives great examples, analogies and shares simple insights into the hardships of bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to accomplish goals. The main emphasis is put on recognizing that diversity strictly by statistics of different races and/or genders present is insufficient.
College is the biggest obstacle in any individual's life when trying to pursue a career they have decided on. Attending Rutgers University would help me pursue my dream of working in the Criminal Justice field as a Patrol Officer. There are many reasons a Rutgers education will help me achieve my career goals. The vast amount of resource, the diverse social atmosphere with plenty of extracurricular activities, and the ability to stay in New Jersey all contribute to how a Rutgers education would be beneficial for me.
It helps to promote the organization which leads the company in the direction of becoming an international force to be reckoned with. When diversity is embraced in an organization, it grows the global portfolio and provides employers and employees with multiple options. It helps a person learn to be flexible and to overcome obstacles that get in their way. We all know that the world is diverse with many different cultures, genders, religions, and ethnicities. However, implementation of diversity is imperative within an organization because it allows access to a larger pool of complex ideas. As demographics shift globally, diversity is a necessity that organizations need to embrace in order to show their commitment to being open to change. Diversity in the workplace is important for the organization and the employee because it allows the organization to flourish through outreach and recruiting efforts.

Around the age of five, I was introduced to my first college campus experience. I went to a close cousins graduation ceremony, and she showed me around the school. From that day forward I always knew that I wanted to achieve academic success. I have already started taking great strides toward reaching my goals, and I am a strong believer that Rutgers will be a great stepping stone in helping me move forward. I choose Rutgers University because it possesses a myriad of things that a student who is interested in a vast campus, diversity, and campus involvement such as myself can use to my advantage. I will be going in as a criminal justice student. I know Rutgers has a very high rated criminal justice program that will make me a competitive candidate post graduation. The academic excellence Rutgers University possesses will not only aid me while in school, but long after I graduate.
Diversity in the workplace is very important in today’s global workforce because workers in the economy all over the world are currently made up of many different ethnicities, varied cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. People that are involved in management such as managers, and supervisors could greatly benefit from being accustomed to diversity in the workplace because their job entails dealing with a multicultural work environment on a daily basis. Knowing how to handle diversity in the workforce and having the necessary skills for supervisors would be beneficial not only to them but also to the success of the company and economy because a strong, diversified workforce will create a more “creative, innovative, and productive workforce.” (Kerby, 2012).
A basic problem regarding the implementation of diversity into the workplace is that its approach sometimes does not fit the interpretations of equity and equality according to the context in which it was meant.
Diversity is one of Rutgers greatest strengths, and I hope I can immerse myself into the many cultures at the university. I want to remove myself from my current familiar situation, and surround myself with a more diverse community. I currently attend a college where 80.2% of the student population is white. I walk around the College of Charleston, and everyone looks and dresses the same. I think it is important to recognize, value and respect other cultures to grow as a person, and I know I will have the opportunity to do so if I get accepted. According to the Rutgers diversity statistics of 2015-2016, only 41.5% of undergraduates are white, and the remainder are Asian, Hispanic, African American, and international students. With students from 63 countries, I will have the opportunity to interact with and learn about the experiences and perspectives of individuals and groups from many cultural backgrounds.
Diversity in the workplace is important for employees because it manifests itself in building a great reputation for the company, leading to increased profitability and opportunities for workers. Making sure all members, students, parents and guarding’s are welcomed at all times in a well-mannered environment Workplace diversity is important within the organization as well as outside ensuring all different are put aside and everyone can come together and work well as a great team.

Diversity is all around us and how organizations deal with the notion of diversity can be complex and quite diverse. We know that being diverse in the workplace is important to the organization's success, should be recognized, accepted, and embraced. It’s how the organizations live up to what they believe in and must go above and beyond legal compliance and requirements to promoting diversity and inclusion.
