The Meaning of Success
Most people do not find their careers fulfilling or meaningful. Today more and more people are dissatisfied with this situation. Many people consider money to be more important than obtaining a purpose in life. Everyone has a passion deep down inside. You may not be aware of exactly what it is, but it will emerge as life goes on. Once you find this passion or mission, success will fallow. It is not easy to find or create work that truly satisfies the soul. Living your life purpose leads to joy and deep satisfaction. I see life purpose as a contribution to the world that gives your life passion, fulfillment, and meaning through dedication to something larger than yourself. The Love Your Job article says something so true, “It’s unfortunate that most people don’t love their jobs, since we spend half of our waking hours at work. You need to love your job!”
AVERAGE COLLEGE GRADUATE SALARY
Throughout college a student thinks and dreams of a career. We declare our major based on what we “think” would be fun, what pays a lot of money, what we think would be interesting. In the months upon a college graduation, the student begins to think seriously about a career. Some people have jobs to start right after graduation, and some have to begin the job search. This is a time when people start defining themselves by their careers. People ask what you do, you immediately respond with a job title. This is what it means to define yourself by your job. There is an abundance amount of pressure placed on the college graduate. Everyone wants to be successful in their careers. Your peers will talk about how much everyone is making. You will begin to compare yourself to others and think you’re not making enough or your peer is not making enough. All these thoughts are normal but the real question, are you finding meaning and purpose in what you are doing? Are you living your life’s purpose? Once you find your life’s purpose the next step is connecting this purpose into you career and being committed to whatever that life purpose is. Take responsibility for managing your own career. No one else will. Avoid the trap of getting caught up in the expectations of others.
Finding your mission and life’s purpose comes easily to some, and to others, it is difficult and takes more time to find. I have b...

...e. Study it. Live it. Work at it. Work harder at it than you have ever worked before. Immerse yourself totally in it. In that immersion you will find happiness and contentment in a life truly well lived. I will close with a few thoughts about the more traditional meaning of success and failure, and their relative unimportance. I have found that what matters most is to have a dream, to do something that you believe in and to love it passionately. Do not fear failure. Do not crave success. If you ask for financial reward for what you do, for peer approval or even for thanks from others, then you are asking to be paid for what you should be giving freely as an act of love. The true reward is not in the result, it is in the process, not in the achievement but in the achieving. With the power of love transform your dreams into action. If you do what you love, professionally and in every other way, happiness and success will fallow.

Penicillin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria, sufficiently treating any injuries. This drug was invented before the war, but had its major outbreak during World War II. Once scientists discovered the potential of penicillin, they aggressively started to pursue methods to mass produce the drug. The mass production of penicillin saved many American lives and led to our victory during World War II.

If bones are never conditioned to repair themselves through ossification, brittle bone builds up, and the body can not rebuild the bone efficiently. Estrogen maintains bone density and as women lose it as they age, bones become less dense and more brittle (Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Marieb). Symptoms of osteoporosis include, back pain and spontaneous fractures; most commonly occurring in the hips. Osteoporosis has no known cure at the moment, but doctors are working to find ways to make the disease more
There is moving joints where it allows a person to either bend or twist. However, some of the joints allow us to move in freely motion while others only allow little movement at all. There are two kinds of joints. One of the joints is called hinge joint which tolerates movements back and forth in the single direction or it connects the upper part of the body, humerus, ulna, and the lower part. A ball and socket joint is also another joint that allows for a lot of movement in all directions possible like a ball in a socket (Marieb 259). Shoulders and hips are the example of the ball and socket joint. The muscles are connected to bones by tendons, bones are connected to each other by other bones itself. Also, the bones are held together at the joint by ligaments. The ligament is like a band of tissue or the white part of the muscle. Between the joints of a bone, rubbery tissue can be found and called cartilage. Cartilage is like the cushion for the bone in which acts as a shock
Penicillin, the first antibiotic, was discovered accidentally by Sir Alexander Fleming in 1928. Sir Fleming was growing bacteria on agar plates and accidentally left one of the plates open. A mould started growing on this. Fleming noticed that no bacteria grew
Making a decision for the future can be hard, but it can be even harder when people are torn between their passions and meeting other’s expectations. In today’s generation, most students are expected to have their career chosen by the time they are out of High School. They are trained to plan and map out their entire lives. Yet, college students still end up having an undecided major by the time they start their freshman year in college. A huge issue that is present in today’s society is that college students chose their major for the wrong reasons. Parents pressure students to pursue careers in business, medicine, politics, and law; however, unless practiced with passion, those careers are pointless.
In America today, the standard way of calculating success is in terms of material gain. Wealth and acquisition of bigger and better possessions are the driving force behind our culture as well as our capitalist economy. “Keeping up with the Jones’s” is a familiar cliché that accurately describes the goals of the average American for the latest and greatest and the biggest and the best. This is how most people believe we are measured in society. 19th Century American philosopher and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson had a different concept of success, however. Emerson says “To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better…to know one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” ("Ralph Waldo Emerson")

In the book Outliers, and in the articles, “Meaningful Work”, “Do, Just, Do: A Journey to Meaningful, Satisfying work”, and “ You Wont Find Meaningful work Looking Outside Yourself”, The authors Malcolm Gladwell, Michael F. Steger, Lori Deschene, and Keven wood describe what the joy of meaningful is to them.Life is what you make of it and it’s and up to you to decide what you will get out of it. Some people may work eight hour shifts Monday through Friday miserable, exhausted, depressed, unhappy, and under a lot of pressure and stress from their jobs. Others may do the same, similar, or different jobs being comfortable, happy with life, and pleased with their job position. Your job should be one of the most important things to you because you are there on average forty hours a week and most of your time is spent there. It should be important that you enjoy what you do because it is practically your second home. Meaningful work is a job you enjoy doing, are compassionate about, never tired of, and do for the fulfillment of yourself , it is important to success because if one enjoys what they do opportunities in their career path will only expand.

Too often, we become too caught up in our everyday mundane routines that we forget, or perhaps, never truly see what our purpose is. We forget what truly motivates us to live and what truly drives us to reach a greater goal. Oscar Wilde once said, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” As I look at the people around me, I see ones who furnish their goals with intents of gaining wealth, success, or recognition. However, are they truly happy? How many times have you actually sat down and asked yourself, “why do I do what I do?”.
