Nowadays, the earth is presenting drastic changes. There are different factors that have influenced to provoke these changes. The man is one if not the main responsible. With the modern world and its speed in which life is developed everyday, the man may not sometimes think of a long-term harm that is provoking. It has been recognized that human activity is slowly increasing the atmospheric concentration of several gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the colloquial term to refer to enhanced global warming. The green house effect is what keeps the earth habitable, without the greenhouse effect the temperatures would be too cold for human live.

Over the past 100 years, global temperatures have increased by about one degree Fahrenheit, with the 1990s to date the warmest decade on record, according to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. Scientists predict that, unless greenhouse gases emissions are reduced substantially, Earth’s average global temperature will rise by two to six degrees by the next century. Since people are causing global warming, they can also prevent it from getting worse or to stop it at all. To prevent global warming we must reduce usage of greenhouse gases emissions.

And really, it’s not so much humans as it is the dramatic increase in population since 1950. In 1950, the population was about 2.5 billion people on this great earth. In 2009—just 59 years later, there are almost 6.8 billion people roaming this globe....   [tags: Climate Change, Argumentative Essay] 1227 words

That is the equivalent of 110 million airplanes all being in the air at once. These disturbing numbers are the foremost cause of global warming, and have been steadily growing over the past few decades. Global warming is caused by this recent surge of greenhouse gasses which consists primarily of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide isn’t harmful to the atmosphere in the amount that is produced naturally from decaying trees, volcanic eruptions, etc., because the forests act as a natural recycling system....   [tags: Environment, Climate Change, Greenhouse Effect]

The importance of the greenhouse effect was just conceived in the mid-twentieth century. 'For billions of years, cosmic forces shaped Earth, and land and air coevolved at an almost inconceivably slow pace to create a climate in which human beings and other creatures could flourish.' (Franscesca Lyman). Now, for the first time, humanity has the power to change the global climate. By releasing the huge amounts of carbon stored in fossil fuels over millions of years, we are distorting the natural carbon cycle....   [tags: Greenhouse Effect Argumentative Environment]
