How Biographical Traits of Individuals Affect Organizational Performance
To study the organization behavior, that is to study the people who
form the organization. The success of an organization rests on the
characteristics of its people. Successful managers can observe the
employees’ behavior to understand their individual characteristics,
which helps to improve the employees’ performance. Therefore, the
performance of employees is directly related to their biographical
characteristics and abilities. These factors affect employees’
interaction with others and reaction to various situations in the
workplace. Then how these characteristics affect organizational
performance?
To learn about this, we should first know what biographical
characteristics are. Biographical characteristics are personal
characteristics—such as age, gender, and marital status—that are
objective and easily obtained from personnel records.
Let’s take a look at the first characteristic—age.
The issue about age and performance is quite controversial. When we

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain is about the great adventures that Huck finn has with his slave Jim on the Missouri River. The story tells not only about the adventures Huck has, but more of a deeper understanding of the society he lives in. Twain had Huck born into a low class society of white people; his father was a drunken bum and his mother was dead. He was adopted by the widow Douglas who tried to teach him morals, ethics, and manners that she thought fit in a civilized society. Huck never cared for these values and ran away to be free of them. During Huck’s adventure with Jim he unknowingly realized that he didn't agree with society’s values and could have his own assumptions and moral values. Twain uses this realization to show how the civilized and morally correct social values that was introduced to Huck was now the civilized and morally contradicting values.

Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn explores the morality of Huckleberry Finn, a daring, young teen growing up in Missouri, who rafts down the Mississippi River with a runaway slave. While Huck travels, he is met with many adventures and problems that test his morality such as deciding whether or not to turn Jim, a runaway slave, into Miss Watson, Jim’s owner. When met with challenges, Huck constantly makes the righteous choice. Yet, because Huck lacks a civil upbringing, he never recognizes his morality and believes himself to be a degenerate even though he demonstrates sound virtue.
Mark Twain revealed both the weaknesses of the American Character and our ability to grow as human beings in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn through his exploration of Huck’s pursuits of freedom. Throughout the story, both Huckleberry and Jim seek to find their own versions of freedom. In the beginning, Huckleberry Finn wanted to be free from the attempts of the Widow Douglas and Mrs. Watson to civilize him with the social conventions of attending school, following rules and minding his manners. Mark Twain once described his novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, as “a struggle between a sound mind and a deformed conscience”. Throughout the novel, Huck wrestles with the disparity between his own developing morality and the twisted conscience of his society. In doing so, he becomes further distanced from society, both physically and mentally, eventually abandoning it in order to journey to the western frontier. By presenting the disgust of Huck, an outsider, at the state of society, Mark Twain is effectively able to critique the intolerance and hypocrisy of the Southern South. In doing so, Twain asserts that in order to exist as a truly moral being, one must escape from the chains of a diseased society.
Consequently, Mark Twain recognized the double standard and addresses it in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.Huck was not raised in accordance or the accepted ways of civilization at the time, in fact, he faces many aspects of society which end up making him choose his own individuality over civilization. In a sense, he raises himself. He relies on his instincts and skills he learns from other people to guide him throughout his life. Twain depicts a theme of how civilization and the ethics of a society can conflict with individuality. Huck is a social outcast because he has been out on his own and reared from a drunken father and no mother. Huck experiences that social conventions inhibit personal growth. As a general rule, society has accepted depravity and immorality from some of its members while rejecting others because of their brand of depravity and immorality.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, one of the most satirical classical novels, is considerably one of the greatest pieces of literature ever produced. By having his protagonist face constant internal and external dilemmas about freeing a benevolent slave, Mark Twain examines the complexity of several problems of the era and uses his work to reveal the prevalent issues in America. Huck chooses to embrace his conscience and rejects the contradictory dictates of conformity; his decision addresses the themes of societal hypocrisy, moral education, and racism as all of these factors combine to negatively affect Huck as he attempts to build his character.
Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn compares and contrasts the benefits and consequences of living in civilization versus living in the natural world, in the absence of a structured society (Gaither par.9). Twain portrays his preference for the natural world through its beneficial effects on the main character, Huckleberry Finn. Twain uses his story Huckleberry Finn to portray the simplicity of a life led without the constraining rules, regulations, and customs of modern society. He does this by allowing Huck’s life to face less difficulty, and gain moral and practical understanding when he is free from the strains of society and its backward ideals. Twain allows the natural world to foster Huck’s moral and ethical development by allowing him to learn his own code of ethics and ideals by his own experience and not by the influence of others.
In the prologue, the narrator says “I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me. (Ellison 3)” This means that they know he exists but choose not acknowledge him for who is he is. This is reinforced by the fact that almost every other character from Brother Jack to Sybil wants to use him for self-interests. And in their various attempts to do so they treat him as a malleable object rather than a real person. Brother Jack and the rest of the Brotherhood use him as a tool to appeal to and manipulate the residents of Harlem. They ask him to change his name, renounce his past and move to a new apartment. Mr. Norton who claims that the narrator is his future only sees him as falsified evidence of his philanthropy. Traits are specific factors a person possesses that makes up their personality. According to trait theories, personality consists of broad, enduring dispositions that tend to lead to character responses. (King, 2016) This essentially means that we can define individuals by how they act, whether their friendly, outgoing, shy, or introverted. People who show those specific traits frequently are known to be “high” in those specific traits.
