Cars
One of the most important steps in becoming an adult is your first car. When you have a car, you don’t need to rely on other people for rides to and from where you want to go. You also learn a great deal, thus making you a more responsible person.
I live in Putney, a small town in southeastern Vermont, but I worked and went to school in Brattleboro. Brattleboro is a slightly larger town about a half an hour south of Putney. Since we had to keep stopping to pick up kids, the bus ride to school took an hour. As such, I had to get up a half hour earlier on days I had to ride the bus. That was a huge pain, especially since I hated the bus anyway. After I got my car, I could sleep in. I could also go out to lunch when I was at school, therefore being able to eat where I wanted, and not in the cafeteria. In addition, I could drive myself home after school. That was beneficial because I could hang out with my friends, and go to concerts and movies. I could do whatever I wanted, as long as I made sure my parents were okay with it. My social life improved greatly with the acquisition of my car.
If I hadn’t had my car, I could not have worked where I did. I worked at a Lebanese restaurant in downtown Brattleboro. Part of my job was rolling grape leaves in the wholesale department on Mondays and Tuesdays. The job was great, but I never really knew when I was going to be finished. In wholesale, you work until you’re done. When my parents had to come pick me up after work, I had to call them when I was finished, and then hang out for a half an hour until they got there. That didn’t work out very well, especially in the winter.
With my car, I was also able to drive myself to all of my appointments, which made them easier to set up, since I only had to work around my schedule, and not my parents’. I was on the

Listerine created a market for mouthwash in the 1920’s when they marketed it as a solution to chronic halitosis. However, in 1983, a new feature was added in which Listerine also fights plaque making it more desirable for consumers concerned with dental hygiene. “If a Bad Dream Comes” and “Sunflakes” are both poems that connect to a child’s reaction to a particular subject or problem. Every child has difficulties sleeping based on fear from a nightmare and the poem “If a Bad Dream Comes” is a great way to give the child an answer on how to make them feel safe. This poem is full of metaphors that connect one thing to another. For example, in stanza two “My blanket is a ceiling. My mattress is a floor…”, the child does not literally mean that the blanket is in fact a ceiling. Through the child’s imaginations, he or she envisions that the mattress plays the part of the floor. However, to the child who is hiding underneath the blanket, this is seen as a way to protect him or herself from the scary darkness of the bad dream. In the poem “Sunflakes”, it begins with the simile, “If sunlight fell like snowflakes…” This particular line allows children to attain the thought of what if sunlight could actually give the joy that snow can. Most kids have a ton of things to do in the winter with the snow, such as snowball fights, snowboarding, and building a snowman; but fun in the sun can be pretty limited, and without proper precautions, you could receive very bad ...
Periodontal disease, or periodontitis, is the inflammation of the periodontium that involves loss of supporting bone structure. Essentially, it is a gum disease that deteriorates the bone structure that holds your teeth in place and it can affect people of all ages. Starting at my early childhood I was forced to walk, crawl or ride a bike to get to where I needed to go, the next step was driving. I wasn 't sure if I was ready to drive, but I knew it was the next step towards adulthood. Driving is an essential tool that many adults in the real world cannot live without. Learning from my mistakes when I first started to drive helped shape me as a woman, but it was not easy at first trying to adjust. Driving meant that I was becoming an adult and that I had to take responsibility for all my actions. Thinking about that really gave me a hard time, because I was no longer my mommy and daddy’s little girl anymore. It was a bumpy experience but I was ready for the ride.

Education is a profession which requires a teacher to be able to communicate with a multitude of students on a variety of levels. There is not a class, or student for that matter, that is identical. Therefore, teachers must be able to identify and help educate students from all different types of backgrounds and at different levels. Teaching a singular subject presents difficulties, but teaching students with disabilities should not be one. There are three main teaching areas that need to be focused on when teaching a student with a learning disability. Teachers need to focus on the strategies that will assist students with reading comprehension skills, writing skills, and maintaining appropriate behaviors in a classroom setting.
