The Benedict's Test is used to test the presence of simple sugars in a sample. If sugars are present, a color change will occur from blue to red. However, although the Benedict's test shows the presence of sugars, it cannot accurately determine the concentration of sugar in a sample solution. In our method, we added specific concentrations of glucose to the Benedict's test to use as a chart to estimate the glucose concentration of an unknown solution X. Although this gives a rough estimate of the concentration, it is very inaccurate. For example, the mystery solution X was a pale orange color, which was between the colors in my first and second test tube. Therefore, the glucose concentration of solution X could have been anything between 1% and 10% glucose concentration. By its color, it seemed to be closer to test tube 1; therefore, I estimated it to be 7%. However, this method is extremely inefficient, and that estimate could easily be wrong. Hence, this method is semi-quantitative and has several limitations. Too much is left down to estimation, where human error could easily occur because in-betweens cannot be accurately measured and have to be guessed at. In conclusion, the method seems flawed in accurately measuring the glucose concentration of solutions. To make the experiment a "fair test," three main variables needed to be kept constant. Firstly, the volumes, including all measurements, i.e., the amount of Benedict's solution used and the amount of glucose water solution in each test tube. Secondly, the time that all the test tubes were kept in the water bath had to be the same for all test tubes, including solution X.
Section I,2. Analyze the consequences of American rule in Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Philippines. Did the citizens prosper? Enjoy freedom? Accept American rule? Comment on the consequences for the United States with regard to the statement made by Eric Foner in the text, “Thus, two principles central to American freedom since the War of Independence – no taxation without representation and government based on the consent of the governed – were abandoned when it came to the nation’s new possessions.
and C, also that there is a 4cm difference between A and C. Test tube
* Make sure each test tube is exactly the same size, I will do this by
1. What is the difference between a. and a. Why is the discussion of gender and sexuality still so controversial? For example, why do so many hate crimes involve sexual orientation? Why do we react so negatively to the topic of elder sexuality? Why do we react so negatively to evidence that children have sexual orientation?
The aesthetic approach, also known as the masterpiece approach, involves solely looking at movies as a whole. This approach coincides the movie to its own director. For example, the Auteur theory explains how the director is also the author of the film. Film as a social history approach includes issues such as, gender, racial, political, and environmental. For example, the feminist film theory conveys a negative approach toward women. As shown in movies, women are considered eye-candy, sexual, dumb, and have no authority. Laura Mulvey even coined the term that women are the “male gaze” of cinema. In result, the Bechdel Test was created; if a movie did not have at least two major female characters that interacted besides talking about men,
The Beck Anxiety Inventory was designed by Aaron T. Beck and is self report scale that consists of 21 items. The items are short and straightforward, making it easy to read and comprehend. All items are related to anxiety and describe a symptom of anxiety that is rate on a four point likert scale according to severity. The answers range from 0-3 and the responses range from “not at all” to “severely; I could barely stand it” and all items are added for a total score. The instructions on the test ask for the respondent to “indicate how much you have been bothered by each symptom during the past week, including today, by placing an X in the corresponding space in the column next to each symptom” (Dowd, 2008). The assessment is intended for adolescents and adults and can be administered individually or in a group setting. An additional copy of the inventory test is also available in Spanish. It was originally created from a sample of 810 outpatients of that were predominately affected by mood and anxiety disorders and research on the original development is described as informative and thorough.
Brown Paper Bag Test was a discriminatory act within the African-American community in the United States that was based on skin color. The brown paper bag was used as a measurement to determine whether or not an individual could receive access to certain privileges; individuals were given preference if having a skin tone lighter than a brown paper bag.The test used to take place in the 20th century in many social institutions such as African-American sororities, fraternities, and churches. In addition, Brown Paper Bags were used in multi-racial social events, at which only individuals with complexions at least as light as the color of a brown paper bag were admitted. The term also refers to larger issues of class and social stratification within
What is true in the eyes of one, can be seen as a delusion in another.
I went to Queendom.com and took the `Do I need therapy' quiz. The results were generally good except for one category. The results said that I scored well outside the normal range in relationships, and it indicated that my relationships are at least in some way dysfunctional, and may be causing problems in my life. There were also some areas that I might have experienced symptoms of Bipolar disorder, Simple Phobia, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I think that these symptoms ties in with my relationship. I think that the symptoms affect my relationship. However, I don't think that I need therapy, because it's not such a big deal.
The book defines personality as a person’s characteristic pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting. Psychologist study a broad range of biological influences such as; personality development across the lifespan, personality aspects of learning, emotions, and motivation. There are two theories that are widely accepted referring to psychology, the humanistic theory, which states that personality comes from inner growth and self-fulfillment, and the psychoanalytic theory that focuses on childhood sexuality and unconscious motivations as influences. The Invisibila podcast discussed the inconsistency of personality regarding students who cheat in one class but not the other. My theory regarding personality states that personality derives from
In Flannery O’Connor’s short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find, a family gets in a car accident on a deserted dirt road. Unluckily for them, they are found by a group of three escaped convicts, led by a man who calls himself The Misfit. These convicts systematically execute the family in twos as the Misfit talks with the grandmother. While the catalyst for this execution is the grandmother’s verbal recognition of The Misfit as an escaped criminal, it is clear that he commits his crimes for deeper reasons. The Misfit is angry on a fundamental level, and acting out on this anger is the closest he can come to feeling pleasure in this life.
In an analysis of the results of four different personality tests, I discovered not only my personality type, but also my study skills and time management skills. I learned that my personality type corresponds with the traits necessary to my desired career in social work. This analysis is helpful in understanding my personality and its relation to my success in college and in life.
In this case study, we can use the data provided to analyse the number of cups of coffee consumed in a week for the males and females, by using SPSS. It is clear that it can be used the independent-samples t-test for this question. For this case, we can use the independent-samples t-test to compare the mean scores on some continuous variable for two different groups. In other words, we need one independent variable (e.g. males and females) and dependent variable (e.g. the number of cups of coffee consumed a week) to test significant difference in the mean scores for the two groups. From the coffee drinking habits research, we could obtain this statistic of how males and females differ significantly in terms of their coffee consumption during
The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale is a standardized test that assesses intelligence and cognitive abilities. Intelligence is "a concept intended to explain why some people perform better than others on cognitive tasks. Intelligence is defined as "the mental abilities needed to select, adapt to, and shape environments. It involves the abilities to profit from experience, solve problems, reason, and successfully meet challenges and achievement goals.
