As I open the double glass doors at the Pub I am overwhelmed with all of
the noise. This place sounds more like a bar than a laundry mat. There is music playing,
beeping from the arcade games, a metal fan going, tumbling noises from the dryers, and
wet clothes being thrown around in the washers. I can barely keep my train of thought.
The humidity in the room made it very uncomfortable. The smell on the other hand is
great it smells so clean and warm. The room was filled with many different people.
There were college students, families, people that were by themselves, screaming babies
and a few senior citizens. The room is fairly large with dinghy white walls that have a
moldy green border running along the bottom. The floor is covered with white vinyl tiles
that have hints of blue in it and about twenty empty laundry baskets. You probably
would never notice the blue though due to hundreds of black scuffs and old dirty gum
that covered most of the floor. The ceiling looks very industrial much like one that

What were your reactions? The atmosphere of the room was appealing, vibrant, and inviting. It was decorated with bright colors including a caterpillar floral area rug which contained the letters of the alphabet. There was also a small table and chairs with an umbrella where children could sit and relax. The teacher’s chair had a rainbow colored

4) A greasy soot deposit covers the ceiling and walls, usually stopping three to four feet above the floor.
During the 1940’s, the world found itself dealing with World War II and in the United States ,a huge African culture movement swept throughout the north-eastern states. One specific artist that captivated the “Nightlife” of African Americans during that era was Archibald Motley Jr. He painted a series of paintings that involved African Americans and their culture. In the painting, “Nightlife” we see a group of African Americans dancing at a club/bar, enjoying life, and swaying their hips to the music. Perhaps, in this painting, Motley wanted his public to notice the breakthrough, blacks had during the 1940’s and wanted to show how music took their mind on a different stroll apart from the troubling issues the world was dealing with. Archibald wanted the world to notice the dynamic and exciting Negro culture.
As previously pointed out the piece is full of many vibrant colors, like the floors a dull, muted yet dark brown that is accented with the pale almost teal colored shade of green, primarily in the far end on the floor. The glass on the window in the back has both light greens and yellow shades next to each other, yellow on the right side and the light green colors, covering more of the glass on most of the windowpanes, on the left side. The walls are a light blue with the occasional bundle of white lines or streaks of white. Both of the doors that are partially visible are similar shades of blue, one of them has blotches of a brownish grey color. The other door has a different colored doorframe, a green stripe on the left side, which is immediately followed by a white stripe.
2. Start to put in your dirty laundry around the outside of the agitator, do not cram or stuff. Also make sure you are putting it in evenly.
Washing machines have become the most popular mechanical device throughout all modern times. “For thousands of years, one of the most tiresome household tasks was the washing of clothes and lines” (Field Enterprises Educational Corporation 45 ). Washing machines are greatly needed in everyday life. Much labor and has been relieved due to the wonderful invention of the washing machine. The washing machine is also a major time saver. Washing machines have developed proficiently throughout all the years and are still developing day by day. From the wash board to the electric washing machine, laundry has truly been transformed in America, as a result, cleaning laundry is nearly effortless.
Society quickly came to expect people to be dressed in clean clothes. This required more washing cycles, reducing the labour saving impact of the machine.
The main parts of the washing machine are the agitator, inner and outer wash tub, electric motor and drain tube. It also has valves and switches. The function of the valves is to allow the hot and cold water in and out of the machine. First, the washing takes place in the inner tub. Here the water and detergent are mixed up with the clothes. The agitator then tumbles the clothes by moving them to all the sides. The agitator is a plastic cylinder at the center of the inner tub. It’s function is to mix the clothing with the detergent. The inner tub moves along with the agitator. The inner tub has many holes and the centrifugal force drains out the water from the clothes and moves them into the outer tub through these holes. The water is then drained out through the tube. (Buzzle, 2009)
