Richard Nixon State Park in New York
To anyone who enjoys learning about a wide variety of plant and animal life, a visit to Nixon State Park is a must do! Nixon State Park is one of eight parks that are funded by the York County Department of Parks and Recreation (Richard). Nixon State Park is located on Mundicerace Road in the southwestern part of York County (Creating). It was established in 1968 when Bob Hoffman, the founder of York Barbell, donated 143 acres of land in honor of the then newly elected President, Richard M. Nixon (Richard). The park is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. (York).
As I turned left off the main highway, and drove down the muddy, winding road to the Park's environmental center, I was in amazement at all the trees and wooded area that surrounded the park. As far as I could see, the hillside were engulfed with trees, mainly pine and spruce. After I had parked my car, and began walking towards the rustic looking, wood covered, 14,000 square foot building, I couldn't help but notice all the children and adults that were there. From the looks of it, I'd say about 40 children, accompanied by 10 or 12 adults (Richard). Around half of the kids were wading through the stream with nets in hand, while the other half of the group were feverishly collecting insects, leaves, twigs and any other interesting artifacts they could get their hands on.
Walking through the front doors exposed a beautiful designed and decorated environmental facility. The ceiling was around 18 feet high and the floor was constructed of a beautifully finished hard maple floor. I had already made and appointment for 3:00, so I went to the front desk to me...

Nixon Park and its positive impact it has had, and will continue to have on York county wildlife and habitat.

The supporting argument is that Nixon made awful choices, but that should not change the people’s opinion of government. Nixon supporters were disgraced and his opponents just shook their heads. His supporters trusted him to do the right things, but in the end he just hurt them. While this was a mayor issue in history the American people should not look at this one bad apple. If the whole United States thought that everyone in the government was corrupt then we would have a huge problem.
Richard Nixon, was born on January 9th, 1913, in Yorba Linda, California. Fifty-six years after he was born he became the 37th president of the United States. In the election Nixon only defeated the democratic candidate, Hubert Humphrey, by about 500,000 in the popular vote. Nixon is considered one of the most controversial politicians of the twentieth century. He used his political experience, his background, the communist scare of the late forties and early fifties, and some other factors to become the President of the United States.
In Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, there are over 1 million acres of non-federal inholdings to which access is, and has been a major issue of controversy. Park managers and landowners alike are trying to reach an agreement which would provide for the access to private property, as well as towns such as Nabesna, McCarthy, and Kennecott. The following information will be used to convince park managers and conservationist groups that access via R.S. 2477 rights-of-ways are not only necessary, but also guaranteed by state and federal law.
When people think about President Richard Nixon, they immediately associate him with the Watergate scandal, but actually “…his pre-Watergate record is a lot better than most [people] realize…” (DeGregorio 600). Nixon and his administration stepped up and exhibited goodness during his first term and part of his second term. They reduced U.S involvement in Vietnam War and brought home 518,000 soldiers from 1969 to 1972. They even made deals to get the POW’s in North Vietnam out and home (DeGregorio 595). Nixon’s administration formed the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce clean air and water laws. Nixon also signed all the Civil Rights Acts passed by Congress (DeGregorio 597). The Civil Rights Acts desegregated schools and by 1972, 90% of schools were desegregated (The Richard M. Nixon Administrations). This really helped improve the educational opportunities for black children. Nixon also started a revenue sharing program in which the federal government gave billions of dollars of taxes back to the state and local governments (DeGregorio 596). This helped local governments because they could spend the money on the things that their communities needed the most. Nixon’s specialty was foreign affairs and he visited both communist China and Soviet Union. He was the first president to go to China and he helped open up Chinese-American relationships and settle differences with the Chinese (The Richard M. Nixon Administr...
Richard Milhous Nixon was born to Frank and Hannah Nixon on January 9, 1913. He was the second eldest son of five sons and was born and raised in Yorba Linda, California. His father worked as a jack of all trades until buying a family operated store where Richard worked as a child. Hannah Nixon taught Richard to read young, and by age five he was solidly progressing in the three R's. Throughout school Richard was always among the top of his class and upon graduation from Whittier High School he was offered financial scholarships to both Yale and Harvard. The scholarships covered tuition only and Richard was forced to decline them because he would be unable to afford the cost of living while away at school. Instead he attended Whittier College in 1930 and was either President of Vice President of his class three of the four years he was in school. He then was awarded another scholarship to Duke Law School in 1934. In 1937 he graduated form Duke and moved back to California. Three years later he married Patricia Ryan on June 24,1940.
Robert Nixon was an African-American serial killer who confessed to five murders and multiple assaults in Chicago and Los Angeles from 1936 to 1938. He was born on June 16, 1919, in the small town Tallulah, Louisiana. The press gave Nixon the nickname "Brick Moron” after he confessed to the “brick bat murders” (Arney). Edna Worden, her 12-year-old daughter, Rose Valdez, Elizabeth Rice, and Zoe Damrell were a few of his many victims. After Nixon was arrested, he was sentenced to death and electrocuted on June 15, 1939 (Patillo).
Richard Nixon served as the 37th president of the United States. He is well known for the infamous Watergate scandal and was remembered by the American people as the first president to resign from office. However, he is also undoubtedly one of the most influential political figures when it comes to guiding the nation through one of its toughest time periods in history, as well as breaking the ice on foreign diplomacy with socialist countries such as China and the Soviet Union. Despite his downfall involving the Watergate Hotel, he had dedicated a tremendous amount of effort in domestic and world politics; and made numerous contributions during his life as a politician, which would give enough reason for future historians to believe that the second half of the twentieth century is truly “the age of Nixon”.
I have decided to use the Nixon Watergate Scandal as my topic for this museum post. I chose the Watergate scandal because it brought about the first and only resignation of a president. That president’s name was Richard Nixon and he resigned August 9, 1974, after being “faced with what seemed almost certain impeachment” (Frank and Sidey). The Watergate scandal came to be after a break-in occurred on June 17, 1972, at the office of the Democratic National Committee. This office was located in the Watergate building in Washington, D.C., hence the name Watergate Scandal. The intruders were caught and arrested after trying to setup secret recording devices and steal documents. After an investigation into the five burglars it was found that these
The more than four hundred locations that are currently recognized as national parks have been set aside because they are considered special places of beauty, character, or uniqueness. Whether visitors come from the natural state or the concrete jungle, the magnificent aesthetics of these sites can cause anyone to be astonished. As they ponder on the wonderful landscapes and the closeness to the wilderness, their souls are nourished. Some people acknowledge the planet or the creator, but all appreciate the splendor of biodiversity and gain a new understanding of it. According to Frye and Nuest, “watching other species and interacting with them helps [people] better understand and appreciate [their] place among them and [their] obligations to other living creatures and the same planetary environment that sustain both [their and the lives of other species]” (54). Furthermore, since these sites have been carefully preserved, they have undergone very little physical or geological change in centuries. The NPS claimed through its website that “by preserving biodiversity, [they] also ensure that future citizens, artists, and explorers of science experience [America’s] lands as the founders of the parks did long ago.” National parks allow visitors to relive scenes from the past and appreciate the nation’s history as expressed in these iconic sites. However,
Nixon enrolled at Whittier College in September 1930. In this college, Nixon pursued his interests in student government, drama, and football. Nixon won a scholarship to attend Duke University’s law school in May 1934. He was the president of the Student Bar Association. He graduated Duke University at June 1937. After Nixon finished his college education, he returned to Whittier and joined the law firm Wingert and Bewly. While Nixon was acting a rehearsal, named “The Dark Tower” for a community, he met his future wife Thelma Catherine Ryan, a schoolteacher. They got married on June 21, 1940 in the Presidential Suite of the Mission Inn in Riverside, California. They had two daughter named Patricia and Julie. At January 1942, Nixons moved to Washington, D.C. and joined the Office of Price Administration. During Worl...

There is no better feeling in this world than to be outdoors with nature, especially when there are numerous activities to dabble in. Often times people take for granted the sentimental value that they can experience by simply walking through a park. God created the Earth to be beautiful and peaceful, and people need to keep it that way. I have always shared a love of the outdoors with my dad and my brother. We have gone on numerous camping, hiking, fishing, and star-gazing trips ever since I can remember. It was no surprise to me when my dad decided to buy a lake house on Hyco Lake, right outside of Roxboro. We got a really good deal on the house, so my dad decided that Hyco Lake was the perfect spot.

On September 9th, 2017 at approximately 7 p.m., I went to Gracedale Public Park to carefully conduct my observation on the individuals, who were at the park and their specific activities in the one hour of time. When I got there, the weather was beautiful with soft winds, a clear sky and with some dim sunlight. The park was full of people of all ages. Though, there were more kids than adults and some teenagers. There were many bicycles and strollers parked beside the tree I sat under. After a couple of minutes, the park filled up with more and more individuals and everyone seemed busy doing their own actions.
Eventually, we arrived at the race course. Stepping off of the bus, the exhilaration was uplifting as we looked across the sunrise ...
