International education brings the ideas of many to one place of learning. These ideas express different views of different topics. Being exposed to different views and ideas help us learn the subject matter more effectively. This is primarily because when we are surrounded by people who are from the same place that we are, the majority will think the same things that we do, and if we all think the same thing from the start, how will our minds ever expand? I don't believe they will. We need to be exposed to the views and opinions of other people in order for us to understand better what we learn, because these different views allow us to question, and the more we question, the more answers we get, and the more answers we get, the greater our knowledge builds. If we were to sit and listen to opinions we already had on a certain topic, we would never question why we believed what we believe.

The heated contested already had its fair share of fighting majors, but an incident that happened late in the third period shocked the more than 18,000 fans in attendance at Rogers Arena, the hockey community, and North America. After failing to instigate a fight with Avalanche forward Steve Moore, Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks grabbed the back of Moore’s jersey, landed a vicious punch to the back of Moore’s head, before slamming him face first on the ice and falling on top of him. Moore had to be helped off the ice on a stretcher, and has never returned to the NHL. Bertuzzi, on the other hand, was suspended for 20 games by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, and is still playing in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings. In a recent study, the National Geographic Society and the Asia Society shed light on a growing concern that showed students from the United States lacked understanding and knowledge of different people, places, and cultures around the world. This growing concern demanded higher-quality education as well as for teachers to understand the value and necessity of developing lessons based on global education. Since the 1980s, the United States government has tried repeatedly to introduce and incorporate multiculturalism and global education into the system but was met with hostility and protests by many of its citizens. Many protestors believed that global education introduces anti-Americanism, and that multiculturalism introduces and encourages "separatism and disunity". Therefore, it is important and necessary to inform and introduce the general public to the benefits of global education, or cultural education in general to our youth.
