The Importance of Journeys
A thorough study of journeys reveals that a journey is much more than
just movement from one place to another. Journeys are about learning
and growth, and they have the potential to teach people about
themselves and the society in which they live. An Imaginative Journey
is one in which the individual doesn't in fact have to go anywhere in
the physical sense. The physical journey is replaced by an expedition
that is fuelled by the human capacity to imagine. Imaginative Journeys
create endless possibilities. They can offer an escape from the
realities of life, and are frequently used to comment on social or
human traits and characteristics.
Imaginative Journeys are represented in the focus text, "The Tempest"
by William Shakespeare, the 2003 calendar cartoon in the Sydney
Morning Herald by Michael Leunig, and the Board of Studies Booklet
Prescribed text "The Road Not Taken", a poem by Robert Frost. The
composers attempt to create a world in which imagination dominates the
actions and desires of the characters, as they are taken on a journey
of magic and discovery.
In "The Tempest", Shakespeare attempts to generate a world where the
audience is transported to a world of magic and superstition. This is
successfully achieved through the utilisation of numerous dramatic
techniques such as setting, symbolism, creation of conflict and
characterisation.
Prospero, in his twelve years of exile, has had an abundance of time
to imagine his vengeance on his brother, Antonio. Using his magical
powers and supernatural forces, he creates a storm to capture his
enemies, with the assistance of his spirit ...

... Curly's day is a journey of
learning and growth. He chooses to escape the realities of life by
embarking on his own imaginative journey. Mr Curly can go wherever he
chooses, yet learns that he must return "back to the desk" and embark
on many more journeys, "hundreds of them", in order to achieve
fulfilment and continue on his journey through life. In Robert Frost's
poem, "The Road Not Taken", the composer effectively conveys the
concept of the journey, and the notion of imagining the possibilities
of where life's journey can lead. Frost has used numerous techniques
to convey the meaning of the poem to the reader. The journey described
here is the universal journey every individual will experience in
life. It is the journey of learning and growth, incorporated in the
complex and exciting journey of life and existence.
Memory, symbol, and pattern are a big bulk of reading in literature. By reading more and more, you will begin to see patterns in different works. Once you begin to compare and contrast, it will help you understand the bottom line of books. It’s becomes fun and exciting when you make connections.
Deuteronomy 22:6: “If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the mother siting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young;”
A person’s actions are right, if their motives behind their actions toward a certain situation have a good intention and they performed appropriate response to certain their situations that life has given to them. For example, a person’s intentions are their motives behind their actions, where as an appropriate action is any response towards any situation which is proper to perform in certain situations that require people to help other people rather than themselves as society deems fit. The following situations are from page 412 of The Philosophical Journey: An interactive approach show about some ethical dilemmas, and the appropriate actions and intentions to figure them out which solution can make an action either right or wrong.
A journey is when exposure to events leave impressions on you, thus creating your unique individuality. Internal journeys have an impact on you because the lessons learned stay with you forever, and help form who you are. The physical journeys leave impressions on you temporarily and what you learn is only useful during that period of time, for instance if you become crippled. But, the two different types of journeys aren’t usually achieved separately. Instead, they are intertwined and needing each other to help you have self-growth. An internal is more significant than a physical journey because it helps you discover unknown qualities of yourself.
daylight it is not very sensible to go over at that time of day. I
Whether a situation is small scale or the big picture, the journey is more important than the destination. Partially because one journey will help you through the next due to what you pick up along the way. In addition, you shape your personality during the journey and learn who you are. Ultimately, the journey will make you happier than the destination.
A physical journey occurs as a direct result of travelling from one place to another over land, sea or even space. The physical journey can occur individually or collectively, but always involves more than mere movement. Instead physical journeys are accompanied by inner growth and development, catalysed by the experiences and the decisions that impact the outcome of the journey. These journey concepts and the interrelationship between physical and emotional journeys is exemplified in the text; The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, the children’s book Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and the film Stand By Me directed by Rob Reiner.
Good friends we have, Oh, good friends we have lost, Along the way. In this great future, you can't forget your past, so dry your tears I say…..No women No cry.” That’s a reggae song from the most well-known reggae singer, Bob Marley, mentioned in Alice Walker narrative essay called “Journey to Nine Miles”. Walker is an African-American writer who tells about her journey to the Jamaican gravesite of the reggae legend Bob Marley. Walker praised Marley of being true loving soul of Jamaica, for having political shrewdness, spiritual power and sexual wildness. The place is called Nine Miles because it was nine miles far from any village in the area. Nine Miles was the most tranquil and isolated place in the world according to Walker. Walker grasps why Marley wanted to be brought back to his home village he wanted to rest and also he was buried there for a good reason as it becomes a great tourist site which brought money to the village people. Walker journey was fulfilling although she saw that Jamaica is a poor country while much of the world thinks that it’s not that even in the poverty a person can see the beauty of the country and the love that surrounds her. Walker is successful at conveying her message about Jamaica and Bob Marley in her essay through the mood by the images and illustrations, through the technique of journey motif on how she describes her journey and herself as writer and through the tone she uses in her essay.
The Role of Pilgrimage in the Life of a Christian Christians go on pilgrimage for many reasons. Most pilgrims go on pilgrimage to show their faith in God, to pray and get close to him. Visitors to the Holy Land want to visit the places described in the Bible which they believe are sacred, where Jesus lived and carried out his ministry. Visiting these places helps them to stay close to God, partly because they are devoting some of their time to God. Although Christians can pray to God in any place and at any time, some feel that being in a place of pilgrimage can help them in their prayer.
Why does changing world matter? With over thousands of cultures worldwide, it is hard to accept everyone for who they are. I have wondered what is the most important determinant of cultural identity. As an Australian with a background from Singapore, food dominates the lives of my family. ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ demonstrates the opportunities of a multicultural society. I believe we can embrace all aspects of various cultures, including their cuisines, and try and change the world to be more accepting of different cultures, as we all have the right to our own multicultural narrative to be who we are in every possible way without apology.

The Road Less Traveled, written by M. Scott Peck M.D. was the book I chose from the list the class was given. The book discusses how people react to different situations we encounter throughout our lives, from childhood lessons and how we are raised to our reactions to situations we deal with as adults. The book is broken down into four main parts; discipline, love, growth and religion and grace. And within each of those sections Peck breaks those down further. M. Scott Peck is a best selling author and psychiatrist, he was educated at Harvard and Case Western Reserve. Dr. Peck lives in northwestern Connecticut where he has a private practice. The Road Less Traveled is an amazing self-awareness book that helps people face life’s difficult problems, making it easy for people to relate to some of the issues talked about in the book.
The issue is whether the traveling time that miners take to get to the face of the mine counts as working time under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The State of Confusion should adopt the majority’s opinion and hold travel time as work time. This position held that because the workers were under employer supervision, physical exertion was involved because they are performing a service, and the worker is doing this work to benefit the employer travel time should count as worktime. Lunch time does not count as worktime because the employee is not supervised and it is for their benefit, by contrast travel time is worktime because there is supervision, it is not the employees own time, and it is for
