Comparison of Employers
To answer the above question I have compared two similar jobs, both
related to scientific research but in two different organisations.
Both employees had similar qualifications (PHD) and their job
description mainly related to leading research activities within the
organisation.
The first employee works for a university (non-profit private
organisation) and the second employee works in the NHS (public
organisation, funded by the government)
Both of the employees were interviewed using structures questions. The
questions were exploring the following aspects of their jobs-:
Provision of support, expectations and stress, pay conditions,
holidays and time off, fringe benefits, progress prospect work
environment etc.
Interview number one
-Tell me a bit about your job.
I started my current job in 1996,originally I was mainly doing
research myself with a small component of teaching involved, however
over the years the proportion of hands on research has gone down and a
bigger proportion is now dedicated to leading other junior
researchers.
-Did you have any induction period or received adequate support when
you started your current job?
Yes however it was not formal and I had to learn many aspects myself.
-Were there any other people applying for the position when you
applied for this job? Why do you think you were selected for this job?
Yes but I was selected as I had more experience compared to the other
candidates.
-How has your progress been monitored since you started this job? DO
you think adequate notice is given to your achievements?
There are formal procedures t...

politics and changing policies, which is not that bad. Joe gives the
impression of being under a lot of pressure as on more than one
occasion the answers revolve around stress and pressure. This is not a
good sign and immediately the reader feels there is too much pressure
upon the first interviewee. The second has stress at times but only
whilst at the workplace and a little stress could keep them up to
scratch with tasks. They both like researching and think it is
exiting.
On the whole I think Philip has the better job as although he does not
receive as much benefits or paid holidays he receives appraisal, which
maintains his positive attitude towards the job whereas Joe is clearly
under too much pressure, and this cannot be good for his attitude
towards the job.

industrial relations system and are defined at a national or industry-specific level. Part 2-4 of the FW Act builds on this national system of awards by regulating enterprise agreements made between national employers and national system employees. These agreements make it possible for an employer to tailor the needs specific to his/her employees by privately negotiating with employees on terms and conditions of employment that are not covered by an award or statute. Traditionally, the national award
Health Care Systems Comparisons Every country wants to believe they have the best healthcare system, but what determines which system really is the best. In 2000, the World Health Organization became the first to publish an analysis of the world’s healthcare systems. The analysis was based on the following five indicators: population health overall, health disparities, overall responsiveness of the health system, distribution of responsiveness based on economic status, and who covers the financial

This theory states that “an individual who perceives that she or he is being treated unfairly in comparison to others will be motivated to act in ways that reduce the perceived
As countries moved from an agrarian-based economy to an industrial one, the labor force experiences new hardships. To overcome these difficulties, a common avenue is through the establishment of labor unions or political parties. Despite their poor conditions, workers sometimes fail to participate in such labor movements due to various obstacles that seemingly encourage them to accept their current state. Labor unions and Socialist parties succeeded in engaging skilled workers, while the average

In the mid 1800’s, workers’ rights and conditions were still incredibly poor in comparison to today. The industrial revolution sparked a period of economic development in England and around the world that did not stop for the sake of kindness or humanity. Thousands of farmers and business people faced tough competition from newly created factories and industries that forced them to join the same forces that put them out of business in order to stay afloat. However, due to the disadvantages and/or drawbacks of the centralized system of collective bargaining in comparison to the advantages or positive aspects of the decentralized approach of collective bargaining, employers have favored departure from the centralized wage-fixing. Against this backdrop, it behooves us to explore the reasons as why employers have favored the decentralization of Collective
