About Football Football, the beautiful game. The most popular sport in England yet
tainted by the violence that accompanies it. Last year 3391 people
were arrested for football related violence including assault, drink
and drug offences, running on the pitch and missile throwing. These
are just some of the despicable acts that are committed across the
country every week. A report made by the NCIS (National Criminal
Intelligence Services showed a 8.1% increase in football related
offences between 1999 & 2001. Today I'm here to talk to you about why
I think better measures need to be taken to ensure these figures are
considerably lowered and to put the enjoyment back into football
before it is lost entirely.
Although there has been a considerable improvement in the amount of
violence since the 1970's it is still a major factor in the downfall
of British football and action needs to be took to prevent
restrictions and punishments being implemented into the game. An
example of this is the risk of fans ruining England's chances in Euro
2004. This has already been touched upon during the English fans awful
behaviour during the qualifying matches between Liechtenstein,
Slovakia, Macedonia & Turkey and if not considered thoroughly could
force FIFA to disqualify England from the tournament. This would be a
major blow for the team and could lead to subsequent problems such as
the sacking of the manager. Nowadays people even arrange riots on
their mobile phones. I'm not saying that the police can stop all
violent behaviour as that is impossible...

...(Darius Vassel) ran into the
tunnel at half time and struck out at a Turkish player who had uttered
something racist whilst on the pitch. Although I do not condone his
actions, I do think that the English player was right in not
tolerating the verbal abuse.
Overall I think that if these factors are thoroughly considered and
action is taken then the game will become more enjoyable and will grow
even more in popularity. Just take the Rugby World Cup as an example.
The English fans behaved impeccably and there were no reports of any
trouble whatsoever. "The English Disease", as football violence is
known, can never be destroyed but it can be quarantined. I just hope
that the authorities and the criminals involved, listen to what is
being said and help give English football a good reputation. Thank you
for your time.
In the 2015 AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots were accused of tampering with their footballs. They allegedly deflated the footballs to 2 PSI below the legal limit, supposedly giving them an unconstituted and illegal advantage. On May 11th, 2015, the National Football League ruled that the Patriots organization was guilty, penalizing them with a 1 million dollar fine, the loss of a first round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and the loss of a fourth round pick in the 2017 draft. Tom Brady, the quarterback, was personally penalized with a four-game suspension for his involvement in the incident. He claims, however, to be innocent and has been exhausting every possible legal avenue to avoid his punishment.

So after coming out with a win in the semi final game we went out to eat as a whole team and that's what we do as american culture. Also our championship game did not start for a couple hours later and also we got to go out to eat a lot because we are american and that's what we do as american culture. Some of my teammates names are named Juan Alonso, Jackson Williams, Nick Lancaster, Preston Harrison, Tristan Taylor, Connor Pennycook, Cole Person, Alex Tan, Jordan Stutzman, and Dj Berliner. So in warmups before the championship game our star player Juan Alonso got injured and did not play the championship game because he had rolled his ankle. So as we warmed up we had to put our backup shortstop in named Jackson
...will decide how much tribalism they wish to get involved in, even if it is simply wearing the jersey; or getting involved in heavy duty teasing with the rival fans of their favorite football team; or even if they simply decorated their own home with every piece of team collectables available for purchase. Whatever an individual does or decides to continue to do I remain convinced that it is actually the tribalism that is more important that the football and if that tribalism dies, than professional football becomes starved of its founding roots and dies. And that my friends, is the scariest thought of it all. Even though I am a strong supporter of tribalism in football, I do feel as that the extreme football hooliganism violence that takes place in the book “How Soccer Explains The World” is unnecessary and the violence does not need to happen along with tribalism.
With the increase in society taking a stance against violence by many people, sports became an area where some feel that the violent acts, such as the hitting and fighting that occurs should be eliminated. The elimination of this violence should not be done in sport because the violence is a part of the game, which would only hurt its popularity. Violence has been around since time has started. People should just have to live with it and understand that violence has been in sports and leisure activities since the times of the Roman gladiators. There are numerous similarities with the violence that takes place in our sporting events today and the events that took place in the Colosseum.

The Steelers were founded by Arthur J. Rooney on July 8, 1933. The Steelers are the 7th oldest team in the NFL. They also have won 6 super bowls which is the most out of all the other NFL teams. In 1970 is when the Steelers started one of the greatest streaks ever! They earned 8 consecutive playoff berths. The Steelers have one superbowls back to back twice the only team to ever do that! The list of Pittsburgh Steelers heroes of the 1970s is long but it begins with Head Coach Chuck Noll who took control of the team in 1969. Amazing players such as defensive tackle Joe Greene, linebackers Jack Ham and Jack Lambert, quarterback Terry Bradshaw, cornerback Mel Blount and running back Franco Harris were the backbone of a team that many insist was the finest ever in pro football. Noll later on became a pro hall of famer. Following the 2006 season, Cowher resigned and was replaced by Mike Tomlin, who in his second season led the team to victory in Super Bowl XLIII. The win marked their sixth championship in franchise history as the Steelers became the first team to win six Super Bowls.
The new rules to Football are much stricter than they used to be. Some rules that have changed include changes to the Red and Yellow cards, usage of a fourth referee, changing of the ball and cleats, prohibition of physical violence during games, and specific rules and regulations. Before, many people did not play Football with rules, they just played for fun, therefore the invention of the Red and Yellow card greatly advanced the competitive aspect of Football. Along with this, people did not always use the balls and cleats that we’ve used today, they used animal skins stuffed with light-weight materials and regular shoes. Now, professional Football players are required to wear specific kinds of cleats and are required to use footballs that are a certain size and meet the standard requirements. Since many people used to play for fun, there was much violence when it came to who ...
One of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports the Pittsburgh Steelers have put this steel town on the map as the city of champions. “The Chief” Art Rooney a southwestern Pennsylvania native founded the Steelers in 1933. However, the team would be named “Pirates” at first and would be the 10th team to join the NFL.
Ensign was hard for me. I had bruised the growth plates in my heels, preventing me from running or walking without extreme pain. It doesn’t really sound that bad but I play soccer and that has always been a defining characteristic for me. The bruised growth plates prevented me from doing the one thing that I truly defined myself by. It made me restless and really hurt my self-confidence. This on top of starting high school was extremely hard for me to even think about.
One one thousand. The stands are filled with men, women, and children waving their hands and homemade signs. The cheers coming from the crowd make it hard for me to hear. I smell the hot dogs, popcorn, and pizza being sold at the concession stand. The marching band has just left the field with the tuba player’s last note still ringing in my ear. In the fourth quarter with us in the lead by five the scoreboard shows six seconds. The coach yells, “It’s time to go”! I strap on my helmet with great enthusiasm and head towards the field to take my position.
Football is the most obvious sport whose commercial value has been tainted by the actions of its players. While the game still attracts multimillion-pound investment from brands due to the massive media spotlight it enjoys, many are questioning the wisdom of their associations in light of a seemingly never-ending stream of negative headlines.
For as long as I can remember football has been a part of my life in some way, shape, or form. When I was first born my grandfather said that I was solid and built to play football. I used to throw the football with my mother when I was a toddler and she always told me that when I tried to tackle her I hit really hard. My first organized football experience was when I was five. I had just moved to Manassas, VA from Washington, D.C. in 1994. It was around fall and that was right at the beginning of football season in the area. I remember telling my mother that I wanted to play, so she looked for a local organization for children. She came across the Greater Manassas Football League (GMFL) and that is where I began to play the game I love.
