Smoking Kills
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is
in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you
have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body"
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
'I went for a routine chest x-ray and the doctors found cancer in my
lung, they said it was malignant and they have taken the lung away.
This is all due to smoking, that little white stick that you put in
your mouth. At 35 you're thinking I shouldn't be going through this!'
26 weeks after John told us about his smoking addiction he died.
Make your decision.
John had been effectively smoking since he was a baby, his mother
smoked during his upbringing which caused John to become a smoker
before he had smoked his first cigarette. He smoked his first
cigarette when he was 9; he stole it out of his mother's purse.
Is smoking really worth losing over half your life?
Smoking causes many medical problems: loss of breath, more vulnerable
to disease and an increase in phlegm are just three of the many direct
problems caused by smoking. There are many deadly diseases contained
within those 'little white sticks' that smokers are perfectly happy to
uptake in to their body. These deadly diseases include: emphysema,
chronic bronchitis and heart disease, all are dangerous to the human
body; you might as well be sucking on a lollypop of arsenic. On top of
these deadly diseases forms of cancer can dwell in your body: cancer
of the mouth, throat, oesophagus and lungs are the main culprits of a
smoker's death.
50% of teenagers who continue to smoke beyond their early 20s will die
from smoking related diseases; do you want to gamble on your life when
these are the odds?
Over recent years evidence has emerged proving that it is not just the
smoker that is in danger of contracting the deadly chemicals contained
within a cigarette, the people around whilst a person is smoking are

“Smoking decreases a person's life expectancy by 10 - 12 years” (Newman). Smoking cigarette is a substance that burn and is tasted, inhale or both. Smoking is also as addictive and harmful as cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and many other injurious drug. The advertisement uses a gun and cigarettes to display the damage smoking causes. The cigarettes are used as bullets which infers to the statement “smoking kills.” The image clearly focuses on why to stop smoking and those who view this advertisement should not miss anything, especially not the gun or bullets as cigarettes. It also gives the reader a list of major health consequences from smoking cigarettes such as strokes, increased blood pressure, emphysema, cancer, suppresses immune function, reduces stamina, leads to depression and fatigue, may cause fatal heart attacks, etc. According to CDC, cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, accounting for more than 440,000 deaths, or one of five deaths, in the United States each year. There are approximately 21.6% adult men and 16.5% adult women in the United States who smoke cigarettes. This advertisement can have two target audiences. One of which could be a warning to non-smokers or second to smokers that should consider stopping or in the process of quitting. This advertisement is trying to persuade people to seek help and stop smoking. Tobacco companies purposely target teens and not older people. These different types of advertisements that deal with the prevention of smoking have mainly been targeting teenagers with attractive advertisement campaigns that are designed to tempt/lure teenagers to smoke tobacco.
Did you know tobacco kills half of it’s long term users? 80 to 90 percent of tobacco users become addicted and they don’t even like the fact they use tobacco. Tobacco products should be illegal because they can cause cancer, heart attacks, and deforestation.
Smoking is one of the highly health threatening bad habits in our economy today. Smoke causes lung cancer and other life threatening situations. Quitting smoking reduces the risk of bad lungs and cancers for your loved ones around you. My Grandpa smokes more than often and has had several heart attacks and is still with me today, I hope to have him for another 17 years and more. Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body and diminishes a person’s overall health. Millions of Americans have health problems caused by smoking.
"For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; or I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
Intro- Hello everyone, if you don’t already know, my name is Greg Mrowka, and I’m here to talk to you about the silent killer, smoking. My goal in telling you about smoking is that you yourselves will not one day become a casualty in the war on smoking. I myself am already in the numbers as one of the addicted, potential casualties. From experience, and through witnessing many deaths on behalf of smoking I believe I am well qualified on telling you about this subject.
Smoking causes respiratory problems, circulatory system difficulties, and urinary troubles strengthening the fact that smoking causes inexorable harms to the body. Although smoking may have the appearance of something that “is cool”, it causes several heath problems many of which incessant effects.
What if a man punched you every time you smoked. Wouldn't want to do it now right? Luckily, no one punches you in the face whenever you smoke. However, smoking increases one's risk of lung cancer and various other diseases. Not only that, but by smoking, one risks the lives of many others with second hand smoke. Therefore, smoking harms our society, and can bring nothing but harm.
it. Do not bother with looking to put the filtered end in your mouth, because
Scientists and health officials have been arguing the detrimental effects smoking has on our health for many years. Smoking can lead to serious complications including asthma, pancreas, lung and stomach cancer due to the large number of carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) and other various substances added to it. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. Although smokers claim that it helps them to relax and release stress, the negative aspects of the habit take over the positive. As it has been stressed by the scientists and experts, there are some very severe reasons of smoking but its crucial consequences should also be taken into consideration.
I chose the hazards of smoking because I want to show people why smoking is bad for their health and those around them. It bothers me that not only am I ruining my health but the health of others who have the good sense not to smoke and are trying to take care of their own health. I picked this because I want to know what all the negative effects are on people who smoke. In addition, I chose this topic because I am interested in finding out what research is being conducted to help smokers who are having health issues due to smoking. I think people need to know that once they start it’s hard to stop and I know this from a smoker’s point of view. I couldn’t stop if I wanted to. I started smoking when I was 12 and I’m 18 now. After six years of smoking it makes it hard to stop even though I know my heart, lungs, and muscles are suffering.
Smoking has a very negative impact on the health of people and causes serious long-term and short-term health problems for both the smoker and non-smoker. The act of smoking began since centuries ago. Today, many people still smoke knowing the fact that it can lead to seious heatlh problems and also possibly death.
I believe that smoking cigarettes is bad for you. Yes it may relief stress for a while and make you feel good but the cons out way the pros. Smoking is bad for your body. Although the most common smoking-related problems occur in the mouth, throat, and lungs, smoking affects every organ in your body one way or another. The use of tobacco is not what it seems to be. You will develop life long problems with smoking. My dad had 11 brothers and sisters. Every single one of them, including my dad, smoke a pack a day. What were the results? All but 5 are alive today. Those six developed some sort of cancer from smoking that ended their life. I’m not going to tell you don’t smoke, because it’s your body and your choice, but I will tell you the consequences that can happen. I do not understand how smokers can keep smoking knowing well what they are doing to their body. I think of it as they are slowly killing themselves. I understand many use the word ‘addiction’ to explain their reasons for smoking. However, would you not agree that knowing you can die by doing something should move you to do everything in your power to stop? Smoking is a terrible addiction that is bad for your body by causing numerous health problems, causes second hand smoke to loved ones, and causes life long problems and death.
