The play Macbeth contains many hallucinations. The hallucinations in the play were trying to make the characters realize the things they were doing was wrong. It is making them conscious of their miss doings. I believe this story is to teach people that they should do the right things at all time because if not there conscious will hunt them down. Throughout the play Macbeth there is a couple of characters hallucinating about so many scenes going on in this play. Here are the things they hallucinate about in this play. Macbeth sees a dagger, Macbeth imagines a voice that warns him “Macbeth shall sleep no more,” (2.2.35-36) and he imagines that the sleepers could see him listening to their exclamation of fear, Macbeth sees the ghost of Banquo, the three apparitions from the witches, and Lady Macbeth sees blood on her hands. I am going to talk about the many of hallucinations that were in the play. The first hallucination takes place in Act 2, Scene 1. “Is this a dagger which I see before me hanging in midair in front of me?” (2.1.33-64). This is supporting the thesis because Macbeth thought about killing Duncan before he did it. Macbeth questions whether or not the dagger is real, or if he is hallucinating. This imaginary dagger leads him to the room that Duncan is in. This makes Macbeth want to get out his own dagger. Macbeth gets out his dagger and kills Duncan. Macbeth is beginning to lose his mind. The second hallucination takes place in Act 2, Scene 2. Macbeth is starting to imagine that the sleepers could see him listening to their exclamations of fear. This is supporting the thesis because Lady Macbeth conscious was eating her up because she was telling him to go ahead and kill Duncan. Macbeth’s hands are all bloody like... ... middle of paper ... ... upon her. So good night” (5.1.70-73). The doctor is just telling the attendant to keep an eye out on Lady Macbeth, because he was afraid that she was going to harm herself (commit suicide). Even though the Doctor warns the attendant about Lady Macbeth, she commits suicide anyway. Lady Macbeth last words before she die were “To bed, to bed! There’s knocking at the / gate. Come, come, come, come, give me your hand! / What’s done cannot be undone. To bed, to bed, to bed” (5.1.62-64)! I feel that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth deserved to go through all of their hallucinations that they went through in this play. Macbeth deserved it because he was killing people to get what he wanted in life. He also did it to hold his title as King. Lady Macbeth deserved it because she was basically pressuring and persuading her husband Macbeth into doing some of the killings he commited.
