As an avid supporter of the arts, immediately I was drawn to the Phoenix Art Museum as my choice for a building of cultural interest in Arizona. However, my main reason for choosing this location is that it has introduced me to new ideas, concepts, and works of art, which in turn have sparked creativity and imagination within me. For instance, upon stepping inside this sleek and modern building, one is met with a massive round light display in the lobby, which is both intriguing and beautiful to look at. Seeing art pieces like this immediately makes oneself more cultured and aware of the different ways artists express themselves in their work. It is crucial for young people such as myself to experience and come to appreciate art, which is why the Phoenix Art Museum is such an important building in Arizona. Without this museum, Arizona would be severely lacking in culture, not to mention without a focal point of tourism in the city. For these reasons, I chose the Phoenix Art Museum as my building of cultural interest.
Beginning on November 21, 1959, Arizona was infused with a rush of culture when the Phoenix Art Museum, the largest art destination in the Southwest, opened it’s doors. The Museum’s collection holds more than 18,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, modern and contemporary art (“About the Museum”). Not only does the Museum host an impressive amount and variety of works, it is a wonderful asset to those in the community who are eager to learn more about the art world. To illustrate, it has been a community center since its opening, and offers year-round events including festivals, performances, art films, and education programs (“About the Museum”). Before 1959, Arizona did not have a location ded...

On my trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I decided to take my mother with me. While being in the museum, I decided to focus on “The American Wing”. In “The American Wing”, there are amazing pieces of art, jewelry, and antique silver. I was amazed on how each piece of artwork and item was carefully designed. They had an amazing design that you do not see now in days.
The Tampa Museum of Art was not always the same museum that we see today. It went through multiple stages throughout the years. The works vary, creating a large spectrum from the old to the new. The social angles change with the exhibits in the museum, combining to create the diversity we see today. Visiting this museum in person helped me to appreciate it even more than I would have thought possible. Observing and analyzing the other visitors helped me to understand the museum’s impact on the community more than I would have been able to just by reading about it. This museum is much different from others than I have visited.
The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum of art exhibits a wide range of collection which covers a period of five century. Looking at an art explores new ideas that enable and inspire to be more creative and develop critical thinking skills. The museum collection offers vivid surprising evidence of cultures from the past. The visit was an educational, cultural and entertaining experience to me. This was a meaningful training to me. A
On Sunday, February 7th, I went to McNay Art Museum that is located right outside San Antonio. The museum was founded in 1954 and is known for their collection of American and European art during the 19th and 20th century but also displays various art out of the time frame and from many other places across the world. Although the sculptures near the entrance really caught my eye structurally, while inside the museum I came across Still Life with Apples and Vessel painted by American artist David Ligare that really struck me visually.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an iconic place to see and learn some of the greatest art forms collected throughout history. From Modern Art to Renaissance Art, I was able to learn a lot from every single piece of art on display. Not all of the art consisted of paintings and portraits; there were moreover many meticulously crafted statues, pots and pans, and even canoes. It is important to note that art is never limited to one single form an element. Art is a piece of creativity expressed by brilliant minds to portray some form of story, emotion, or way of life. Thus, I have chosen four pieces of art: Asmat Spirit Canoe, Rush Hour, The Pardon in Brittany, and Woman in an Armchair. I chose these art forms, because they looked unique, creative,
Many in the modern world seem to take great pride in the rapid pace which life holds for most of us. It is as if we might squeeze a few more precious moments of life's experience for ourselves if we move a bit faster. In reality, we rob ourselves of the enjoyment of the slow consideration of the phenomena we experience everyday. Art is something static which we might use to slow us in our perception of our world. It is not required that art be something static in motion but in thought. It is not something to be considered with only fleeting attention. A single painting could mean millions of different things to different people. It is the value of possibility and of perception that is so important. The Weatherspoon Art Museum at UNCG is a perfect example of the importance of this concept.
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
All across the world there are hundreds of museums filled with history, information, exhibits, and famous documents. A variety of museums display artifacts of a mix of several cultures, historical events, famous people, and art work in the entire museum. Rather than having several different attractions, some museums are dedicated to showcasing exhibits based on a specific topic of history or interest. Therefore, museums with the purpose of educating people of a certain topic should only display artifacts, pictures, documents, and other such attractions germane to the museum’s theme of interest. In order for a museum to achieve it’s purpose and maintain it’s protocol, the museum must take into consideration the many pros and cons of a new display throughout the decision process.
“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”, as told by Aristotle. As an artist myself, I find myself keeping in connection with not solely my artwork but of artworks from other artists. Therefore, I decided to visit The Dallas Museum of Art in which I absolutely enjoyed my experience not only because my passion revolves around art, but I familiarized myself with numerous types of arts from various cultures.
In my life, I have never been to any museum, and I never thought museums were that cool and incredible view. Today first time I went to San Jose museum art because my art teacher recommended to all class students to go there for extra credit. Also I never expect the positive experience, which I got from this visit, for example; I got parking in short time, no line to buy tickets, and no crowd at the museum which helps me to spend more time on each photo to understand it better. So because of this positive reason, I observed many things about Indian history of art and Mexican famous artist about Jose Clemente Orozco.
This project made me understand that enjoying art and appreciating a building’s architecture are not contradictory purposes but complementary aspects of a museum visit. After we leave a museum we don’t only leave with knowledge about art but also with different states of mind that can only be shaped by the environment. The museum experience is a whole package of stimulants such as colour, space, light and movement.
Art has always played a key role in shaping world culture, and it has always been a very important part of the culture in the United States. But it hasn’t always been what it is today. Long before colonization and the establishment of the United States, Art was an integral and influencing factor of European society. In Europe the art movement was already defined, shaping European life and culture in full scale on a day-to-day basis. European Artist where already well known in the rest of the world and set the standard for what was known as visual art in the forms of painting, sculpture and architecture.

Growing up I had never cared for the field trips our school would take to the art museums of San Antonio. Specifically, I remember how unimpressed I was at the McNay. I’d stare at the massive sculptures resting outside in the garden and wonder why anyone would consider that red, twirly thing or the board filled with dirty, old shoes pieces of work. It didn’t make sense to me – until now.
