Long ago, in the Ancient Greek Period, the term philosophy was introduced by Pythagoras, a Greek mathematician. The etymology, the break down/literal meaning, of the word philosophy breaks into two parts: philo and sophia. Philo makes reference to wisdom, while sophia makes reference to a brotherly type of love. The combination of these two words, philosophy, can be directly translated into “the love of wisdom.” Philosophy has been described as the “mother of all sciences.” But philosophy itself, unlike other sciences and curriculum, is somewhat open to interpretation.
