Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that I should be the next class President The 16th president Abraham Lincoln once said "Character is like a tree and reputation is like a Shadow. The shadow is what we think of it, the tree is the real thing."
I feel like Public School #23 has a character of its own. In fact it's like a tree, it has roots of strong administrators who make sure we stay grounded. It has a strong trunk of teachers who wish to support us in whatever we decide to do. We have wonderful subjects the branches that make us interested and fill our brains with knowledge and we the students are the leaves. As freshman we start to bud, as sophomores we begin to get full shape and color, as juniors we begin are full shape and size and by senior year we are tired and wish to leave the tree and adventure the world. The shadow that our tree forms is a very respectable one. I am ______ and I want to be your Class President.
I show respect for everybody and believe that is one of the most important qualities for a president. A president should be able and will to listen to others.
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
A fantastic president would always be trying to come up with new ideas that won't affect people in a bad way. They would need to be great public speakers, honest, powerful, persuasive, and respectful. Most importantly though, they need to be able to lead their country through the specific problems facing them
“Who’s going to step up?”. “Who’s going to change this?”. People ask these questions everyday. I realize that I have never truly thought about the defining characteristics of a leader. I was given a list of qualities and upon reading it, I proudly realized that I demonstrate leadership. But the important consideration should not be how I successfully match this definition, but instead why I do it. I was elected treasurer for the class of 2016, a student body elected official, and hold that position of responsibility by attending meetings weekly, promoting school activities (such as homecoming), and participating in student council planning and events as much as possible. I wanted to become treasurer because I wanted a say in decisions that impacted our class. I wanted to be recognized as an individual that my peers could come to with questions and concerns.
Richard Neustadt identifies three specific traits a person must possess in order to succeed as president of the United States of America. He stated that “the presidency is not a place for amateurs” and candidates must meet specific traits if they are to succeed at commanding one of the world’s largest and strongest nations. The three criteria he believed that a man must possess in order to succeed as president include the power to persuade, a professional reputation, and a public prestige. Herbert Hoover, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan are three presidents who were elected to power at three very different eras of American history. The following research paper will examine how each of these three men succeeded and failed at meeting Neustadt’s criteria of presidential greatness. In addition, this research paper will compare and contrast the successes and failures of the three men and finally, the paper will conclude by offering a personal consideration of what I believe makes a truly great president.
Being humble was another great quality of a good leader that Lincoln possessed. When mistakes were made Lincoln was humble enough to take the blame for them where it may lie. He also was humble enough to give praise to others who did good things, and give others credit instead of greedily taking it all for himself.
In conclusion, I believe that I can offer a wealth of expertise and experience in contributing towards the continued development of a cohesive, dynamic and collaborative school that focuses on offering outstanding world class learning opportunities for all. I consider myself to be a good role model to students and staff alike and I am committed to leading by example. This, combined with my drive, infectious optimism and commitment to playing a full role within the school beyond those duties set out, make me a strong candidate for the post.
My school, Community School of Davidson has some things that would surpass my standards if I were class president. I would choose to change our homecoming, a time to celebrate our school. I believe that we should have a more traditional homecoming. This would consist of having the Homecoming football game on a Friday night. Then on that saturday we would have someone to go to the formal with, our date. This is what most schools do and I just think that it would be a lot of fun to get dressed up and go with your date to homecoming. Another thing that I would choose to change if I was running for class president is that I would choose to remove jumpstart, a time to be active during the day. I do like having the extra ten minutes to goof around
One of Abraham Lincoln’s ability for being a great leader was to be aware of his own weakness. One of his weaknesses was giving people too many chances. In fact, George McClellan, Commander in Chief of the Union Army, refused to follow orders about the war effort. Eventually, Abraham Lincoln created a deadline and removed McClellan from the position. Abraham Lincoln is also recognized as, “Honest Abe.” For example, “As a young man, Abraham Lincoln worked as a general store clerk. One evening he was counting the money in the drawers after closing and found that he was a few cents over what should have been in the drawer. When he realized that he had accidentally shortchanged a customer earlier that day, Lincoln walked a long distance to return the money to the customer.” He was a genuine leader. He was also equitable and conscientious. Abraham Lincoln is an exemplification of what a great leader possesses. He had the motivation to create his honesty.
Going to school is very crucial. We got to school to get an education and to learn something new. In the United States we have public schooling, that means free school! Waking up early in the morning can be a hassle, but you're getting an education for free. Some kids would love to have the chance at an education like the children in America. Instead of enjoying the time and being thankful for what we've been given the opportunity to do, we have people making a joke of it. I often hear the phrase "I am too cool for school." I didn't know anyone could be cool enough that an education wasn't good enough for them. Let's take a second and define this word "cool," because I am unsure of how this is even remotely possibly. Cool is defined
Respect is feeling deep admiration for someone elected by their abilities or qualities. We do not want a president that will treat people different by the actions, so I think that everyone should be treated the same. The people who have disabilities should not be treated any different than a wealthy person because they cannot do what others can. I believe that every person has the right to do what they want and how they want. These are the things that should be respected by the president.
After three hours of running around my campus. I had finally covered the school in campaign flyers that sported a picture of myself superimposed onto a “bear-shark.” My campaign and involvement in Student Government Association has shaped who I am as a person and given me a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader.
Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that I should be the next school prefect
The real question at hand is what is a President? A President is a leader, someone who others will trust and rely on to make the right choices and decisions for the general public, or in this case the residents of the building. A President must possess many skills and abilities, for he is the chief officer of the organization, and is entrusted with the direction and administration of its policies. This is a very serious and important position, in which the person who assumes that role must be capable of performing at the highest level of capability. The President must possess people skills, which is the ability to respond appropriately to every situation in an appropriate and efficient manner. He has to be able to work well with others, especially the other members of his cabinet. The President must also have an expertise in communication skills, oral and written, so as to have the ability to talk with the students and fully understand exactly what they are saying and asking for. After all, it is the job of the President to do what is best for the students. The president must be trustworthy, and have the trust of his cabinet members. He must be reliable, so he can take care of all problems or issues that come his way. Most of all, the President must be motivated. He has to have the fire in his heart, which burns at the thought of helping out and representing his peers. This is why I know that I am the right person for this position, because I possess all of these qualifications. I am the right man for the job, as I will not accept defeat, and will do everything that is in my powers to be the best possible representative of my peers, my residents, my friends. I have chosen to run for president, because I know and understand what the common person wants, and I have ideas on how to make this the greatest year living in La Riviere ever. Twenty years from now, I want everyone to look back on their experiences in La Riviere, smile, and say "I, President of the Hall Council, made my sophomore year the greatest one at WNEC."
One of the biggest influences on the youth in society today are teachers, adults that students are in everyday contact with. Teachers are needed to instruct youth and students to be quality citizens in the community and to teach students values, morals and to educate the youth on how to become better people as well as helping adolescents grow into adulthood. A respectable goal for someone becoming a teacher is be devoted to the profession, take schooling seriously, and sincerely care for the students. There are many steps one must take in order to become a teacher including fulfilling general and college requirements, truly knowing what it takes to be a high school English teacher, and what each state requirements and job descriptions consist
U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln was a man of great self-confidence. He failed in politics more than he succeeded, however, when he did succeed it really mattered. Starting with great disadvantages and many heart breaks, he was confident that he had something to give to his country. He was one of the more humble of all Presidents. Knowing full well that he could not do it alone, he build his Cabinet with the very best of the leaders of his day. Some were his enemies, yet he recognized their abilities more than their disagreements. He went on to become one of the most respected and cherished leaders in world
