I grew up a young man with a opportunity to excel in a family owned business that was based on hard work. For my father never having a formal education seemed to work fine. This mind set bled down to the next generation. I truly thought that hard work and learning what I needed to run that business from him would be all I need but in October of 2004 all that changed. The 25 year old company was no more and I was not only out of a job, career and inheritance but I did not have the education to keep myself employed at the same level. I have the technical skills to do my job well, l however I am missing the educational portion that I feel will be a long term benefit for not only myself but also my family. Finishing what I had started years ago is a critical component in my career success. Going back to school is somewhat outside that comfort zone for me. By now in life I have found that when I am in this uncomfortable zone this is where I most need to grow. The Idea of having dreams is nice for some people however I think that a dream without measurable and tangible goals is a dream most will never achieve. The “Life Goals” that I have set for myself include finishing my degree in business management. As I am able to implement ideas and themes from my education into my business I feel this will greatly enhance my value to the company and my peers. At my current position I am the manufacturing engineer of an LED lighting company that builds light fixtures for commercial and municipalities. Most of my career moves in the last few years have been only in the horizontal direction with fancy titles. This I believe will be the greatest enhancement I can make to my career. One of the most important factors in any ... ... middle of paper ... ... I stored and data backup also having a computer crash or one of my kids decides to take my computer into the shower. These are all real possibilities that I should be prepared, for these reasons have begun to back up my computer on a daily basis with an external hard drive. This is the least expensive and simplest way to save any possible lost data. “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” (Forest Gump-Forest Gump) This statement has always seemed so true to me. These goals have helped me to eliminate the chocolate covered orange goo that has seemed to drag my life in unexpected directions. So finishing these personal “Life Goals” will be a critical part of my success over the next 5 years. These will be achieved, not by accident but only persistence and time will reveal true success of these aspirations of mine. .
I want to apply these skills to medicine. Rather than simply administering a standard diagnosis, I want to approach each case with respect for its unique circumstances. My ability to understand and empathize with others will help me to provide personal care to patients. Medicine is the field in which my background in the humanities, my fascination with science, and my commitment to helping others will coalesce. Until then, however, I may be found on Monday afternoons in the hospital. I am the
Personal Statement Hmmm………What shall I tell you about me? You, the person who will decide my fate, my fate as to whether I would go to CU-Boulder, go live in Colorado, go snowboarding in the mountains, meet lots of interesting people, and have the most wonderful experience…I better make myself sound worthy. First off, I want you to know that I'm an unparalleled individual, whose outlook on life is of total optimism. Through out my 18 years, I've become freinds with people from all walks of life
of the typical American nuclear family: a single parent household. As I began to study family dynamics further, I was able to see my life experiences in a broader context. In hindsight, I now realize the impact and weight my own mother had on my personal development. It was through her strength, determination, and optimism that I was able to find the spark within myself to set goals and dreams for my future. She encouraged me never to accept anything at face value, including the way our society attempts
As I watched my mother rush to get the pot to boil some water with tears in her eyes, I found myself at the mercy of one of the many asthma attacks that presided over most of my childhood. Most of the houses around our neighborhood in Juarez, Mexico were composed of one large room with a stove, bed, something to sit on and no restroom, so getting to the steaming pot was only a few feet away. Desperately trying to grasp for air as I lay on the couch, I wanted relief not only for myself, but also for
My mother loves telling the story of my response when my parents asked me what I wanted for my third birthday. I responded by pounding both fists against my chest and jerking violently. Eventually they realized that I wanted defibrillators, as seen on the beloved television program “Emergency.” Although impressed with the technology, even then I was attracted to the idea of helping people. Through example and upbringing, my family instilled in me the importance of being involved n all levels of
Personal Statement of Teaching Philosophy I. Teaching Philosophy and Goals I have one goal for my teaching: helping students to think and learn for themselves. This goal is as simple as it is illusive. The more experience I have as a teacher, the more I understand that there is no one-way of achieving my aim. Clearly, the proper focus of education is learning, not teaching; but I know that it is within a teacher's power-and thus it is the teacher's responsibility-to create the conditions

Personal Statement: Interests, Experiences, and Goals in Nuclear Engineering Money and fame do not motivate my goals. Engineering in all forms is a field of innovation and invention. Aspirations of any great engineer should be to introduce to the world a new idea, product, or service that will make people happier and the environment safer. Success in these challenges is a reward greater than any dollar amount or public recognition. Engineers bring societies to new levels of civilization through

My Personal Praxis Statement As a college student, I often find myself inundated with work. To make it worse, these assignments usually are uninteresting and irrelevant. It is in the midst of these tedious exercises that I begin to wonder whether all of this work is worth it. When this issue creeps into my mind, I think back to my reasons for choosing to pursue this profession. When I started college, I knew that I could not function in a typical nine to five job. The banality and predictability
side, atop a monstrous pile of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National Park, and saw a glimpse of myself. Love filled my soul; love of people, love of family. The backcountry has always helped me find this love; it has been my personal north star, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started backpacking at 13, trekking across the winter-harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling
Mission statements can be very important. They allow a person to keep direction and focus in your life by helping you concentrate on the things that are important to them. In order to come up with a mission statement that suited me personally, I had to look at my values, characteristics, and skills. Using these I condensed them into a singular goal for my future: I aspire to dedicate myself to utilizing problem solving and rationality to discover new truths to benefit myself and others. This mission
Signora Ferro lay heavily on the gurney which threatened to succumb to her enormous body. The air smelled of fresh sweat, unwashed bodies, and rotting flesh. The doctor to my side shook her head at the site of the gangrene on her foot which now seemed to be taking over her entire leg. Signora Ferro was likely in her late thirties, but homelessness, poor hygiene and even poorer nutrition had begun to take a toll and had changed her appearance to that of a fifty-year old woman. Her condition was
