When I was a freshmen in Assumption University (AU), my friend, Bee, often asked me to help him with his business because I specialize in public speaking and communication. I am able to speak fluently in multiple languages: Cantonese, English, Thai, and some Spanish. For his business, he designed many styles of clothing, so he wanted me to help him promote and sell them. This was the first time I experienced real business. Through this, I have learned that business is a lot more complex than just knowledge and theories. This made me realize that just understanding the theories won’t be enough, it’s about how well I implement those theories to real situations, which is, in my opinion, the key factor to success.
Ever since my childhood, I have always wanted to study Business because both of my parents are merchants. I was always curious about how the real world works. This is why I became interested in Business. In my opinion, business parallels our life. In both business and our life, we face many struggles and how it is solved depends on the decisions that we make. However, out of the thousands of decisions we make in our personal lives, only a few will be significant but in business, every decision is. A single decision may determine the future of the entire company and lives of thousands.
My lifetime aspiration is to own a business and in order to achieve that, there are many steps that need to be accomplished. I know that becoming a successful entrepreneur will not be easy but as Colin Powell once said, “There are no secrets to success. ...ork and attitude is the main key to success just like what Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or can’t—you’re right”. Along with this, I had strengthened my morals and beliefs in life. This unique but valuable experience I went through helped me developed my courage, patience, and responsibility.
There are two reasons why I wanted to study at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). First, I want to experience the traditions and cultures in my home country. The opportunity to study in HKBU will not only enhance the chance of success my future, but will also allow me to reunite with my homeland. Second, HKBU offers the degree that matches my interest very well and will benefit me most throughout my life. Therefore, I believe HKBU offer the best tools and equipment towards my education, and prepare me for even greater challenges in the next stage of my life.
