The characters in my book are very interesting, there are 3 main characters. Percy, Grover, and Annabeth. Percy is the son of Poseidon who is a Greek God. A powerful God who rules over all the oceans and everything in them. Then there is Percy's best friend Grover, is a Satyr, that is someone who is half horse & half man. Annabeth is the daughter of Athena who is a Greek Goddess. There are other important characters as well in the story like Percy's mom, or the other Gods. Percys personality in the beginning of the book is best described as shyness or acts like he doesn't care, but over the book he expands out of that stage and becomes more outgoing and courageous. Grover is fearless, he has to be because he is Percys protector. But when they go to the underworld he is kinda freaked out by Hades. Annabeth is not afraid of anything because she is the daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. Annabeth has trained for many years and w ants to fight as many people and monsters as possible, other than dummies. This is because her whole life was fighting lifeless practice...
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a very famous historical fiction book in this decade. This 550 paged book has encouraged many teens to know more about the Holocaust, a genocide that took place during World War II. Markus Zusak wrote this book based on information from his parents’ memory, not based on a modern day conflict. His parents’ experience during the war greatly influenced him. Even though many of the characters in this book are fictional, the origins, the towns, the events and the actions are historically accurate. Although The Book Thief was not written during World War II, Zusak was still around people who had been there to witness it.
The lightning thief is the first book in the series. Percy Jackson was a twelve-year-old boy but not just any young boy; he was a demigod. In other words he’s half human and half god. In the beginning Percy didn’t know he was a demigod until an incident happen with his so called “algebra teacher”, Mrs.Dodds Percy turned her into dust with a pen,( a sword in disguise as a pen i should say) He told his best friend at the camp Grover right after it happened but he acting like he had know idea what Percy was talking about. Grover claimed that there was never a Mrs.Dodds. Percy also asked his favorite teacher Mr.Brunner; he also said there was never a Mrs.Dodds working at the school, Ever!
Percy Jackson lives a normal but hard life. The reader is able to determine that this is the ordinary world as Percy has not been told his true identity. Percy thinks he is an ordinary average teenage boy attending sixth grade at his sixth school, Yancy Academy which is a “private school for troubled kids in upstate New York.” Percy mentions that his life is quite confusing as well as he describes he has dyslexia and ADHD. These are the problems create a major issues as they affecting and make his academic achievement difficult. At birth Percy’s first father had left him and his mother. After his father left them his mother decided to get remarried. From Percy’s point of view this was not a smart choice as his step father treated her poorly. Percy is definitely unsatisfied and frustrated with her decision as he respects and cares about her a lot. Percy also greatly loves his mother as he defends her when she is disrespected by his stepfather. Percy seems to only have one real friend, Grover who is scrawny and “on top of all that, he is crippled”. He does not associate with other kids as he feels he does not belong with them. The reason he is in trouble at home and school could be that others don’t recognize and realize him as well as he does not understand his place. This is what the reader would classify as Percy’s ordinary world. From this point on, the story will further develop into the next stage call to adventure as the ordinary world seems to be a place the he despises.
I like the way the author, Rick Riordan, made mythology come to life in “The Blood of Olympus”. The book brings an interesting spin on Greek and Roman mythology. Besides the mythology, I really like the character Percy, who used to be the main character in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I also personally enjoyed how well written the book was. Altogether, I liked the mythology, Percy, and the well written story that the author Rick has created.
N. Scott Momaday, shares the cultural background of the Kiowa tribe in “The Way to Rainy Mountain”. He is a long descendent that has no experience with the tribe during their traditional era but from the stories he has heard from his grandmother, he feels more connected to the Kiowa culture. He spreads light about who the Kiowas were and described who his grandmother was as well. With the experiences he shared with his grandmother, likely influenced the person he is today. In the end he is happy and proud of who his grandmother was and will remain even after death.
My original thought when comparing Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief the movie and Classical mythology was that there would be many more references to the myth of Perceus than any other myth throughout the movie in its entirety. That’s where I was wrong. After watching the movie again and researching the different hero myths my opinion has changed. My new thoughts are that the movie is not influenced by the myth of Perceus any more than other hero myths. The movie ties together many different heroes’ stories and mixes them together to make a wonderful story about a young boy. The movie was based on a book series written by Rick Riordan.
In this expert from the “Lightning Thief,” the author uses Percy’s point of view to achieve his purpose, of creating suspense.
Percy is a natural leader, who is valiant, vibrant and will do anything for the people he loves and cares about. He is the son of poseidon who has a sense of human that is sardonic but also smart. Percy’s whole demeanor is laid-back. Even though he is perspicacious he can also be absent or feebleminded. He has the respect of the Olympians including those who dislike men, heroes and humans like Hades Artemis, and Dionysus. Due to the Fact that Perseus is a demigod he is irascible and tends to act on impulse, which usually ends with enormous consequences at times. He doesn’t like being...
There are several settings in Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire. The settings in the book resemble medieval towns and castles. The opening scene is set in an urban street. The following scene is set at the Hogwarts castle. A castle is a common medieval image. Another common medieval image is people gathered in a stadium watching a big event. The next setting in the story is the Quidditch World cup. Another setting in the story is a town called Hogsmeade which is the last remaining wizarding town where the students at Hogwarts take trips to throughout the year.
When Zeus (God of the sky) symbol of power, his master lightning bolt is stolen, he accuses Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon (God of the sea) of the theft, and gives Percy 14 days to retrieve and return the bolt before he starts a war among the gods that will destroy the universe. The faith of the universe lies in the hands of Percy Jackson.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The lighting Thief by Rick Rioban is a thrilling fiction story about a half-blood boy named Percy Jackson. His story starts off by telling the reader how Percy was supposedly a bad students and got kicked out of every school he went to. At the time Percy was going to an academy where he met Grover, Chrion his Latin teacher at the time, and evil Mrs. Dodds. It turns out that Mrs. Dodds was actually a Furi which, came from the underworld and she was hunting Percy down. Percy did not understand what was going on and went on with his life when of course he got kicked out of academy.
The movie of Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a movie directed by Chris Columbus and was released on February 12th 2010. The movie of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, also directed by Chris Columbus, was released on November 14th 2002. These two movies are in fact more similar than most people would think. These movies are similar because they have similar plots, character choices, and similar settings.
The beginning of this book puzzles the reader. It doesn't clearly state the setting and plot in the first chapter; it almost leaves the mood open to how the reader interprets it. In the romance story The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks, the plot then shifts from a nursing home to a small town -- New Bern, North Carolina. It baffles the reader so much that it urges one to read on. The romance of Noah and Allie in this book is so deep and complex that it will bring a tear to the eye of any reader.
