Oedipus Rex: A Movie Review Oedipus Rex is first of the trilogy about the life of Oedipus and his children, written by Sophocles. It tells about the tragic story of a baby who was abandoned in a field with the consent of his parents in order to escape the dreadful prophesy about him killing his own father and marrying his own mother. However, the servant who was supposed to leave the child in the field brought him to a shepherd who in turn gave the baby to the childless king and queen of Corinth. Therefore, without the knowledge of his parents, the child grew up to be a fine young man. When he grew older, the child learned that the parents he knew were not his real parents. Wanting to find the truth, he sought the counsel of an oracle who did not give the grown child an answer to his question but prophesied that he will kill his father and marry his mother. Afraid, the young man left his country only to bring the prophecies to him and his father into reality. However, it was years later, when he already sired four children to his own mother, that the story unfolded and Oedipus learn...
