Obesity in America is a very serious problem affecting many Americans currently and is a problem that continues to grow each year. “Over the past 40 years, the prevalence of obesity has more than doubled in the United States” (Wimalawansa). This issue is known to many but believed not be an issue to care much about but this is not true. Obesity in America affects everyone regardless if they are obese or not. In order to resolve the problem, we can slaughter all the adults that are currently obese in America. The first advantage of solving the issue this way is it can reduce the rate of world hunger. World hunger is defined as the mass starvation around the globe. World hunger consists of starvation, dehydration, and lack of necessary nutrition and food supply in all countries. “It is estimated that some 800 million people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition, about 100 times as many as those who actually die from it each year.” (The World Hunger Problem: Facts, Figures and Statistics) this problem is a huge concern and needs to be stop immediately. So slaughtering all the adults that are currently obese in America to stop world hunger could not be any better of an idea. The way this will be possible is by being resourceful after slaughtering the obese adult. What they will need to do in order to accomplish this is first understand the amazing opportunity that have to feed the people in other countries that are in need of nourishment. Instead of just throwing away the lifeless body of the obese adult or just letting it lie around just anywhere and decompose where it will be no help to anyone or anything. The people that are hired to kill the obese adults should just keep the bodies and find a way to shred up the obese person’s body in order to be able to make fertilizer. The use of the fertilizer will then be to fertilize the crops in other countries as well as parts of America that are in desperate need of nourishment. The human fertilizers will not only help the produce grow just as any other fertilizer does but it will do so at astonishing speeds that have never been seen before, for the reason that no fertilizer has ever been made before out of human remains. Once the produce is grown to the point that is great enough to be consumed the crops will then be managed and maintained by adults that are currently obese but have not been slaughter yet due to the fact they are willing to be worked to death.
Obesity is on the rise, and it is becoming more and more of a national health concern. It effects more than 1/3 of the population, and an additional 1/3 is overweight. With obesity becoming more and more of a problem each year, the American population is going to suffer from a catastrophic health emergency.
Obesity has been a growing problem in America. With the leading cause of it is in our diet and the kind of foods we part take of everyday and they lifestyles that we all choose to live. The everyday habits and practices, that have been imbedded our every day routines. The American routine has become so lazy and self reliant on getting what we want and need at an instant that it has caused us to be over weight. We have all become so used to getting instant gratification, that it has been imbedded in our head that, why work for to get our food when we can go to a restaurant of our choosing and just pick out food. Especially with such a fast growing society that we live in everything moves so fast, We are all expected to keep up with
Obesity is a huge problem that needs to be resolved because it affects all people, unlike most issues. People of every gender, every age, and every race are at risk of being obese. Obesity rates in America have nearly doubled within the last twenty years. Something must be done not only to prevent obesity rates continuous rising, but also to dramatically increase the percentage of obese people in America altogether.
Obesity has been accepted in the American society as a norm. According to the U.S. office of the Surgeon General, in 1999, 6 in 10 American adults were classified as obese or overweight (McMurray, par. 5). In order for one to be classified as obese they’re body mass index (BMI) must be 30 or greater. The number of obese in America has continued to increase. It has been estimated by The World Health Organization that 300 million people will be obese by 2025 (Bailey 3). Since obesity comes with many health risks, many feel it should be treated as a disease.
Today, 78.1 million American adults and 12.5 million children are obese. Obesity in America is a unstoppable epidemic. Since the 1960s, the number of obese adults have doubled and the number of obese children have tripled. Because of America’s obesity problems, Surgeon General David Satcher issued a report saying; "The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight," said that obesity "have reached epidemic proportions" in America. Obesity in America has no doubt reached epidemic proportions. Since 2001, America has been the most obese country in the world. This essay discusses what obesity is and how it is affecting today’s America by answers the following questions:
Obesity in the United States continues growing alarmingly. Approximately 66 % of adults and 33 % of children and teenagers in the US are overweight. Obesity is the result of fat accumulated over time due to the lack of a balanced diet and exercise. An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than thirty percent is considered obese (Whitney & Rolfes, 2011, pg. 271).
Americans are becoming more obese due to the challenges of the economy because healthy food is overpriced, fast food restaurants at every corner, and not enough motivation to exercise. If we are going to make a change, we need to take baby steps. A healthy world is a happy world.
Obesity in America is a crucial problem. 75% of adults ages 20 and older are considered to be overweight, obese, or extremely obese (Overweight and obesity statistics). This epidemic has not only affected me, but it has affected my family. I have always been obese every since I can remember. This was an unhealthy lifestyle and something needs to change. Something needs to change not only for me, but for our country. Obesity in America poses many health threats to people of all ages. I have come up with a simple solution this is guaranteed to work.
America is one of the richest, most progressive countries in the world. Shouldn't it be one of the healthiest too? Maybe it should be, but the sad truth is that Americans are some of the least healthy people in the world. Even though we are living in a country with great economic power and technological advancement, we are also living in a country with the smallest fund of practical nutritional knowledge. We are living in a land plagued with obesity. America is one of the richest, most progressive countries in the world. Shouldn't it be one of the healthiest too? Today when the vast majority consider fast food, they consider quick and cheap food that you can eat on the go. At the same time, shouldn't we think about it being unsubstantial and unhealthy? Are we in the right position to fault today's obesity on fast food? What about its impact on employment and agriculture?
I choose to do my research paper on Obesity in America because it is something that need to be solved. Obesity can be caused by many different things such as genetics, various combinations of hormonal, metabolic, and behavior also appears to plays a role. In the last 40 years the epidemic has prevalence in the U.S has gone up by over 50%. So every two of three adults are now obese which is not good because now it is going to spread to the children. My personal connection to this topic is that a lot of my extended family has type 2 diabetes and I want to help my immediate family so we don't get diabetes. So what is America doing
Roughly 35% of today’s America is obese. This percentage is increasing exponentially as the years past. At this rate, in the soon to be future, a majority of the population is going to be obese. Obesity is a major problem in our society and if this behavior is not stopped there will be consequences. There are few things we can do for this epidemic but if carried out by the right people, we can create a solution for this growing problem.
The economy, finding funding for military operations overseas, and seeing if a baseball player took illegal steroids to a baseball, two of these are the challenges that our should Congress face day in and day out, but they want professional sports. However do we want our nation’s political leaders wasting valuable resources to see if professional sports are drug free?
food industry for the epidemic of obesity. Obesity can be defined as a complex disorder involving an excessive amount of body fat. The food industry needs to help combat the amount salt, sugar and fats that are in the food. Salt is used for seasoning or preserving food. Too much salt for the body can do a lot of damage long term. The Obesity Epidemic that is taking place now is the Food Industry fault.
