Obamacare and Small Businesses
Adverse Effects
Obamacare seems to have a plethora of negative elements attached to it. When it comes to small businesses, Obamacare might potentially have an adverse effect on the employers and workers. However, at this time we cannot do anything for fellow citizens that are feeling the emotional and monetary distress that they’re enduring as a result of Obamacare.
There is a possibility Obamacare will have a negative impact on small businesses. Attributable to the anticipation of Obamacare, small businesses have already started replacing full-time employees with part-time employees. In anticipation of Obamacare, employers need to decide what the most effective economic choice is for his or her business. The business owners have to make a decision, pay for the insurance, or pay a $2,000 penalty a year per employee. Attributed to the flow of mandates, penalties, and taxes, this could result in job loss, closing businesses, and possibly higher prices for the consumer. The point of Obamacare is supposed to help employers and employees, but with the high health care prices, it might have an adverse impact on small businesses.
In anticipation of Obamacare, small businesses have already started replacing full-time employees with part-time employees. Small businesses with fewer than 25 regular equivalent employees with average annual wages above 250,000 can get tax credits (as adjusting for inflation beginning starting in 2014) to help pay employees premiums. Businesses making $250,000 in profit should pay 9% increase on the market part a tax. The tax is split (.45%) between the employer and employees making over $200,000 individual and $250,000 for family. All businesses with over 50 full-time equivalent...
