The license plate reader, LPR is a mobile plate hunter that comprises of a camera(s) placed on the outside of a squad car that is then connected to a computer database inside the squad car. The plate hunter has the capacity to recognize the character on a number plate and rapidly relay the information to the database computer that would verify of the owner or the automobile has any record or if the vehicle has been reported stolen/missing. This ability is even possible when the squad car is moving at 75 mph and can check up to 3, 000 number plates within an hour. Any offending incidence is brought to the attention of the officers by a siren or alarm the computer makes; stolen or revoked license. (Hanlon 2007)
The system is also able to pick the face of the driver and saves it for future or further referencing; if the face of the driver is already in the database as a wanted criminal or any other offense, the computer also raises an alarm. The benefit of the license plate reader as noted by the Dayton law enforcers is that the gadget/technology has provided more eyes on the road and made the job more effective. According to the California police department, the license plate reader enabled it to retrieve 275 stolen vehicles in a period of six months and make 50 arrests within the same time; these would not have been possible without the help of the technology. The system is also employed by the Border control officers whereby vehicles coming in are automatically registered and stored in the database. (Hanlon 2007)
The first challenges that the system incurred were poor images as a result of the sun or headlight effects which made it hard for the optical vision or yielded very poor images. That is history now as the advanced lice...

Have you ever heard of the idea of body-mounted cameras on police officers? If not, David Brooks will introduce you to the idea that was discussed in an article from New York Times called “The Lost Language of Privacy”. In this article, the author addressed both the positive and negative aspects of this topic but mostly concerned with privacy invasion for Americans. Although that is a valid concern but on a larger scale, he neglected to focus greatly on the significant benefits that we all desire.
...not associated with crimes. The experiment shows us that increased police presence even in no-criminogenic areas may reduce crime rate by making people aware of crimes and encouraging them to report crimes. The methodology followed in this experiments has its strengths and weaknesses. Selecting a good comparison area as a control was an excellent feature for this this experiment. However, there were many limitation to this experiment, such as the shortcoming in the analytic technique and failure in providing a definite measure of the increase in police presence. The article overall is interesting and I would recommend anyone to read it.

With technology constantly improving and evolving, there is potential for research on other types of police monitoring such as dashboard cameras and body-mounted cameras. While dashboard cameras have made headlines with capturing police brutality, there is no empirical data on whether this method of surveillance is effective in deterring abusive police behavior. Similarly, cameras mounted on a police officer’s person have not been examined as to their overall efficacy.
In the United States a person cannot go through their day without being under some form of surveillance. The US has been on edge lately with law enforcement, due to crimes that have occurred over the years especially with those of minority race. The American Civil Liberties Union, commonly known as the ACLU, strives to defend and preserve the rights and liberties that are granted under the constitution. The ACLU has been crafting their vision for how the criminal justice system should handle police integrity. The ACLU advocates cameras for all uniformed officers, while many other criminologist believe that they are not the long term solution to the issue. Advocates believe that body cameras can protect the people from law enforcement. Advocates
This can be very beneficial for the police because most of the time police investigators often struggle to solve an investigation mainly because of a lack of evidence or a lack of witnesses willing to cooperate. Although using the information using the information obtained by the street check can be helpful in a variety of ways such as putting the person of interests in the area at the time of the crime or it proves the investigator with a tiny lead which may lead to greater evidence. Many police investigators credits carding for the success in solving their investigations especially Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans who credits the arrest of Min Chen In the murder of Cecilia Zhang (Blatchford, 2015). This all started one month before Cecilia was kidnapped police had received a complaint about a suspicious car near the Credit River upon responding the officer found a car with three male occupants one of them being Min Chen they claim that they were looking for a place to go fishing and showed the officer their rods the officer was suspicious based off the fact the rods still had price tags on them and that Min lived Scarborough which is quite a distance from Mississauga however due to the fact she had no grounds for arrests the officer obtained the three men’s information and

Computers are used at traffic stops. If the car is stolen the officer car arrest the person right then.
Article one sates that installing automatic traffic light camera can reduce the number of police officer which means saving the cost of hiring additional officers and also, it helps the police officers to focus on duties that require human attention. In addition to this automatic traffic camera has well documented benefits. For example, in a 2010 report by the insurance institute for highway safety red light camera have lower. Moreover, automatic camera discourages the behavior of red light violators. For instance,
