Network Infrastructure Upgradation
A computer network or data network is a telecommunications network that allows computers to exchange data. In computer networks, networked computing devices pass data to each other along data connections. The connections (network links) between nodes are established using either cable media or wireless media. Network computer devices that originate, route and terminate the data are called network nodes. Nodes can include hosts such as personal computers, phones, servers as well as networking hardware. Two such devices are said to be networked together when one device is able to exchange information with the other device, whether or not they have a direct connection to each other. Computer networks support applications such as access to the World Wide Web, shared use of application and storage servers, printers, and fax machines, and use of email and instant messaging applications. Computer networks differ in the physical media used to transmit their signals, the communications protocols to organize network traffic, the network's size, topology and organizational intent. Upgrading to the network is an important and vital change in any organization. It involves lot of cost and time for the management and the users in the organization. If the Upgradation is in the Insurance Industry then the main impact will be on the data security and data integration because the data in the company belongs to end users and contains very vital information. Below is the SWOT industry if any Insurance company goes for network Upgradation:
Strengths

Value Chain Analysis of the Insurance Network Upgrading
A value chain is a chain of activities that a firm operating in a specific industry performs in order to deliver a valuable product or service for the market. In case of the Insurance company the first point is firm infrastructure which includes changing and updating the basis networks and installing new networks for the company. These will in turn lead to the end result of the company towards margins and profits. Once infrastructure is set then only all other factors can be implemented and streamlined for the organizations.

Value Proposition is defined as "A business or marketing statement that summarizes why a consumer should buy a product or use a service”. This statement should convince a potential consumer that one particular product or service will add more value or better solve a problem than other similar offerings." To structure a proper value proposition for a company, you must view the business model and three identifying features of the business. These three features are the Goals, Core Activities, and the Product Market Focus. The goal of a company is what it aims to accomplish. In regards to Imperial Oil ltd., their main end goal would be to create profits for their shareholders and to increase the overall value of the company. With creating more value to the company, the business can use funds to access and develop more research and advance their technology in growing the corporation. The core activities of the business are what value creating tasks will help the business run properly and how t...
There is a company named Regional Gardens in Bathurst with 150 employee, company runs a number of enterprises working related gardening. Company owns Regional Gardens nursery which selling plants gardening related material to public. Company also owns Regional Garden planners which works as the consultancy. At its main site where company servers and data is stored has the following infrastructure
The series of activities that are enacted by a firm that add value to a product beyond the cost of the production are referred to as the value chain. Harley Davidson offers a combination of superior performance and unique attributes within its value chain that promotes their core competencies and provides them with a competitive advantage.
The company has self organizing team and use groupware, emails and blogs to communicate with the customers.
Its functional structure is organized with many executive vice presidents reporting to the CEO and additional functions representing a major component of the Target value chain such as a store, design, manufacturing, sales and marketing, logistics, and customer service. Each functional unit is supervised by a functional chain of command that focuses on their area of responsibility. This way CEO provides direction and ensures that the activities of the functional managers are coordinated and integrated across Target
The tool essentially shows the chain of activities required to develop and deliver the products. The effectiveness of the organization vastly improves when all the key activities such as customer, vendor, suppliers and partner within the value chain working smoothly. The value chain used to reduce operational and production cost using low-cost producer strategy. If two service or products are delivery by two separate divisions for two different markets, there are functionality and process that can be integrated to save cost.
Value chain model highlights specific activities where the information systems could be applied. This model is set to identify leverage points in which IS could have a strategic impact to enhance company’s competitive position. The value chain perceives firm as a series of interconnected activities that add a margin of value.
Value chain analyses a firm 's internal activities such as planning, production, and development, packaging and distribution so as to create value for clients. The function of the value chain is to identify the sources for cost reduction along with quality improvement. It means value chain is used to identify the strong and weak points, positive and negative points, the scope of improvement; in a nutshell, the advantages and disadvantages of the activities taking place in the system. The value chain is also called as a strategic analysis tool and it is a well-known concept in business management industry.
Before explaining the advantages that a value chain can offer, it is important to first identify the value chain itself. According to Stabell and Fjeldstad (1998) Porter's work on VCA began by disseminating an organization's activities into two categories, primary activities and support activities (See Figure 1):
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
This paper describes the basic threats to the network security and the basic issues of interest for designing a secure network. it describes the important aspects of network security. A secure network is one which is free of unauthorized entries and hackers
...vantage of the overall network design and implement usable subnets with virtual local area networks. Use encryption and encapsulation to secure communications of public segments to enable extranets and cross-Internet company traffic. Use items such as intrusion detection systems and firewalls to keep unauthorized users out and monitor activity. Taken together, these pieces can make a secure network that is efficient, manageable, and effective.
The aim of the value chain structure is to maximize the value creation while minimizing costs. Value Chain Analysis is a useful tool for working out how you can create the greatest possible value for your customers. Value chain analysis relies on the rudimentary economic principle of competitive advantage -companies are best served by operating in divisions where they have a relative prolific benefit compared to their competitors. Concomitantly, companies should ask themselves where they can deliver the paramount value to their customer. To conduct a value chain analysis, the company begins by identifying each part of its production process and recognizing where steps can be purged or enhancements can be made. These improvements can result
Assigning the precise amount of network capacity in the right place at the right time is no simple task. Network Planners cannot afford to overbuild, as this would consume scarce investment resources that could be better used elsewhere. They also cannot delay expansion as this may result in poor service to customers and under-utilize other network assets. A balanced approach is needed in order to meet the rapidly growing and changing traffic demands. Advanced network planning and design software provides benefit to network planners in the following ways:
The organization traditionally concentrated on the lower end of IT value chain from 2000-2004, this shifted to higher value IT services in order to obtain the competitive advantage. Value chain offers organizations ways to improve value to its customers; it can also be defined as generic strategies of differentiation and cost leadership (O’Connell, 2010).
