On Saturday night, cities come alive. Roads, restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, concert venues, movie theaters and many more nighttime destinations fill to capacity. However, occasionally a person just doesn’t want to bother with the hustle and bustle of the city life. It remains questionable how one may spend the night at home, without having to venture out for supplies to keep entertained? Enter Netflix. Its convenience, value, ease of use, and available features together make Netflix the perfect way to spend a night in.
Convenience
Available for a little over the past decade, Netflix is a service that allows subscribers to watch movies and television shows in the comfort of their own homes, without ever leaving home. Originally a DVD delivery by mail service only, Netflix now allows subscribers to stream movies and television shows instantly via the internet directly to their home computers, internet enabled televisions, enabled Blu-ray players, internet television streaming boxes, smartphones, tablets, and several gaming systems with internet connectivity. With the touch of a button, subscribers are able to watch their favorite movies, without ever leaving their seats from anywhere in the world. Netflix also continues to provide a DVD by mail service, which delivers movies and television shows directly to patrons’ mailboxes. At a separate cost, the DVD service can be subscribed to in addition to the streaming service or it can be purchased without the streaming service, if preferred.

A major strength that Netflix has is their ability to push for such innovation. They have reached new lengths since their start in 1997. From in-mail DVDs, to streaming media on smartphones and tablets, it’s unbelievable to witness this in the making. I think the world is a little shocked on the technological advances of Netflix. What they have done so far is spectacular and it is all because of innovation. New ideas and new strategies developed over the last fifteen years has lead Netflix to where they currently stand today. They currently have a subscriber base of over 700, 000, offering thousands of titles on many different devices. This was made possible because of their ability to innovate and strive for new technological advances. I consider Netflix a very brilliant company. Their strengths are very clear, but this isn’t to say that they have no weaknesses. Netflix has far more competitors now, than they had 15 years ago. I would say that their biggest weakness is not offering enough newer content. Some of their competitors such as Hulu, offer a ridiculous amount of new content. Netflix seems to have a large amount of titles, but majority of these titles are older titles. They need to offer newer titles more often than less. Netflix first grabbed the attention of many customers when, unlike the local video rental store, they eliminated due dates and late fees charged by traditional video rental stores. The Netflix model allows customers to pay a monthly subscription fee for which they receive as many movies as they want in a month. The subscribers order DVD’s via the firms website and delivered through the United States Postal Service. Subscribers keep the movie as long as they want and when finished return it to Netflix in a postage paid envelop.
Netflix has a user-centric based policy. Individual preference data is stored in their database which enables for product/ service customization. They can expand their services and products complexity without having to further increase the level of familiarity and understanding that is necessary for the handler to utilize the products and services. This differentiator makes Netflix unique compared to competitors in their industry. The context-driven variability used allows Netflix to provide a more user-centric solution.
It can be difficult to re-create the experience of going to the movie theater. However, home theaters and in-home entertainment has become more popular as online streaming has taken a precedence in the industry.

A movie theater has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that people can see the showing of different movies that have been newly released. The disadvantage is that, that is all there is to it and nothing more. At home, you can control the variety and ways to watch a movie. People buy many movies to watch at home and it can be anything at any time even at any place. The only bad thing about it is that they cannot see any of the newest released movies that recently came out in theaters. There are two types of ways people watch movies at their homes. One way is people already own DVDs or have bought many of them and start watching them in their DVD players. The other ways are streaming a movie through the internet. For this to happen, people would mainly buy the monthly subscriptions such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. In a movie theater, there are experiences that some will not have while at home and watching Netflix, such as the enormous screen, comfortable movie theater seating, and the theater speakers. Netflix can be used in a causal way with friends, but the main purpose of watching a movie is enjoying the experiences one can get from the movie itself. While at the movie theaters, the environment is completely different, because everyone is supposed to be quiet or else they risk being thrown out. The experience does not compare to the feeling someone gets when that intense scene appears, and they get immersed into the atmosphere of the theater. Movie theaters have the opportunity to give someone an unforgettable experience unlike Netflix, because the ambiance is truly unique and unmatched by anyone’s living
