The Negative Effects of Fast Food

Standing in line at a fast food restaurant, Jim could already taste that quarter pounder he was about to order. As he gazed around, he noticed many already chowing down on what looked like their seventh or eighth burger. He observes that one woman had to pull up a chair because she could not sit down in the booth comfortably. Jim began to wonder to himself just how many quarter pounders had that woman ate in the last few years, to have lost all control of herself. Weather someone is buying fast food once a month, or two times a week, it still has the same negative effect.

When it comes to fast food, they are not shy about emptying ones wallet. For what started out to be an affordable place to dine while on the go, has now become one of mans worst enemy’s. Wendy Woloson said, “The aggregate sales of the fast food industry in the United States consistently represent an increasingly larger percentage of overall consumer dollars spent on food, reflecting fast food's growing role in American society” (“Fast Food”). Woloson means that the more money people put into the fast food industry the more it grows. Without the sales of the eight dollar combos or the new dollar menu many would be able to afford the things they want or need. Some people would even spend their last five dollars at a McDonald’s on the dollars menu, who wouldn’t want that tasty snack, that can only hold you up for about an hour, instead of gas money. Fast food is greasy, high in cholesterol and calories and just not good for you.

No matter what anyone eats, fast food is and always will be unhealthy. Pizza, french fries, tacos, and even the most favorite of them all hamburgers, are all examples of food that is served in fast food restaurants. David Gerard Hogan...

...en who eats out once a month will not be effected as fast as someone who eats it twice a week, but in the end will be effected the same way. Fast food is not good for anyone and should not be consumed for pleasure.
