My Plans for Postgraduate Studies and Career Interests With a four year degree in Computer Science and Engineering and after working in software industry for some time, Now I’m intended to pursue my long term goal in academics, which is to obtain a Master degree and possibly to aim for PhD relating to my preferred research area. With the enthusiasm to learn and explore the area of parallel and distributed computing, I want to achieve my Master degree specialized in relevant field. I envision myself pursuing a career in academia and research in future which will allow me to contribute those fields with my foremost interest. My sense of interest in research and its aspects began while I was an undergraduate. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was exposed to various aspects of computer science and engineering. And this exposure helped me to develop as a computer engineer with a broader knowledge. I am truly blessed to have gotten the chance to take HD111 Career Planning with Pam Zuckerman. Going into the class I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and I thought the class was just going to focus on finding a career. Although, I still don’t know what I want to do with my life, this class helped me find myself and learn so much about myself. I am now able to narrow down possibilities in order to help find he perfect career. The class went far beyond my expectations and I have Pam to thank for that.
I am interested in joining the Medical Career Exploration Program because being part of the program will allow me to interact with different areas of the medical field. This is a valuable chance for me to experience how it is like to be a physician at a prestigious hospital. I hope that my communication skills will continue to grow with the program and assist patients, visitors, and family feel satisfied and proud to be part of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. My trip to Beijing, China and Inner Mongolia in 2012 let me realize how important it is to communicate and interact with people of different backgrounds and culture. I was able to build strong and long lasting friendships with elementary school students and faculties as an international mentor. By interacting with a foreign community, I gained a beneficial opportunity of planting and raising field crops to support the local villages.
My high school psychology course intrigued my desire to pursue psychology in college and the courses offered at State University furthermore solidified my interest to continue in this field. I took a particular interest in theories of personality and upon completing cognitive psychology, I wish to obtain a clinical neuropsychology certificate in conjunction with a doctor of psychology in clinical psychology.
I have known from an early age that I’ve wanted to become a doctor. Helping people has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after working with young children I have found that I love working with them, and have a connection with children. Currently, I am interested in becoming either a neonatologist or a general pediatrician so I can continue to work with young children.
“The future is coming no matter how hard we try to stop it…The only thing we can do is work hard and strive for the best future possible”(Acheson). Employers are becoming more selective when it comes to choosing employees. There are diminishing job opportunities that comes from outsourcing because of cheap labor and infrastructure. All of these factors make the prospect of finding a future job more difficult. In order to improve my chances of finding a successful job, I am directing all of my efforts to my current high school classes and extra circular activities to enhance my capabilities in the field of engineering. My goals for the future are to provide a comfortable future for myself, my future family, and as well as my current family.
My career goals this year is to attend Florida International University Nursing Program. I decided to have a jump start with my internship at Jackson Hospital Memorial Hospital, this is my main community activity as I provide meaningful one-on-one experience with the patients. I have extended my community activities at The Frost Science Museum annual Summer Camp as I provided an interactive and engaging classroom environment for the kids who are interested in science. The Primary Learning Center is my other community service project to help tutor students. I am academically ahead in coursework by a school year. Currently taking all AP/honors classes. Many people have told me that my educational career goal is difficult to achieve, and it most likely is. I have dreamed of becoming a doctor since I was seven years old and now, I am one step closer. I will be majoring in Biomedical Science (Pre-Professional Concentration) at the University of Central Florida in hopes of attending Medical School.
