My Superman
Over time, I have had numerous individuals who have influenced various aspects of my life. Their personal characteristics, accomplishments, and values have influenced me in a positive way. They help shape the way I am in the present and what I will be in the future. They are someone that I can look to for advice in a hard situation and know that they will give me words of wisdom. They will never judge me on my past mistakes, but only look to help because they really do care about me. Throughout our lives we're influenced by many. It can have an effect on the way we view issues within societal boundaries. One of the major influences children have in their lives comes from their parents. The parents of a child can have both a positive and a negative influence on their lives. In the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird", there are two excellent examples of how parents can be a major influence on their children. Atticus Finch, father of Jem and Scout Finch, plays the loving, kind and knowledgeable father. He is an example of how parents can have a positive influence on their children. Bob Ewell, father of Mayella Ewell, plays the drunken, abusive, and neglectful father. He is an example of how a parent can be a negative influence on their children's lives. Both fathers are very influential on the psychological development of their children.

It exemplifies the way I feel about my own father. Everyone has a person who has made a deep impact on his or her life. For me, it was my father Donald Alexander. He was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was the reason I wanted to become an attorney. He said I never lost an argument. I feel tormented that I was unable to know what a great person he really was.

Even though, his family was wealthy enough, my grandpa was always greedy, and he didn’t like to spend a penny on his family. So that forced my dad to look for a job at a young age, because there were times when he didn’t have food at the table. When, he turned 16, he decided to cross the border, looking for what we can call a better life. He worked for almost 12 hrs. Daily on the field, cutting tobacco, veggies, or any sort of fruit.
My parents immigrated to the U.S. legally from the Secret War, and coming to a country where they do not know how to speak the language or adapt to the culture was really hard on them. For my mom, she wanted to continue her education, but my dad and his parents forced my mom to work instead of getting an education. Because of not having a good education, she did not get to have a good job that would help support the family. I give the most credit to my family when it comes to who I am today. I am so privileged to have grown up with both a mother and a father. They each have been through so much in their lives, and luckily, they have passed much of their wisdom and life lessons onto me. They both have taught me right from wrong and how to be the best person I can be. However annoying they get, I can always be assured that they have my best interest at heart and only want what is best for me. The same goes for my grandparents. In particular, my Grandma Flo is one of the most independent, s...
Being raised in a low-income family, I faced the challenges many immigrant families face: living in a multi-family household on a single income. Together, we shared one bedroom with three siblings and four cousins. At that age it was difficult for me to continuously feel helpless by not having the ability to provide for my family. There were periods of uncertainty that can make you feel overwhelmed and powerless. I remember vividly walking past my parents’ room countless nights only to see them on their knees praying. I could not fathom the sacrifices they have made to give our family a bright future. However, with hard work and support, my family overcame the hardships and turmoil. I continue to remain mindful of the past and reflect on my present blessings. My parents’ ability to keep fighting paved my path for persistence.

Additionally, building this strong brother-to-sister relationship of trust with my own sisters, leads my focus on the members of my family, who has influenced my character more fully than anyone else. My Dad especially is probably my greatest example of all times whose character and integrity really touched me in various ways I could ever imagine. I really admired the way he led our family with great wisdom and counsel which helped me in my hard and difficult times. I only got to spend nineteen years of my life time with him due to his passing away while I was on my mission.
Everyone has that one person in their life has influenced to be who they are. Some weren’t meant to be looked up to, still somehow that person shaped them to be who they are today. It could be anyone, a friend, teacher, most of the time a parent. A parent that has influenced their child would be a hard parent, who disciplined and showed the real world to their kid, for what it really is. In hopes that their kid will survive the real world and pass on their knowledge to their kids and their children and so on.
My Father dying has a profound impact on my perspective on life, and time. In fact it was the first time I considered how much time do I have left? Whereas when my grandfather died it was all about the emotion of the loss. It was also a learning experience in that I never dealt with death before.
