My uncle has worked in HIV AIDS Department for an extensive period of 15 years and spoke highly of how his support has transmuted the lives of certain individuals and how his contributions yielded prolific results in preventation of AIDS as a widespread disease. He had sacrificed his career as a successful accountant to service the underprivileged and has touched many lives; street beggars, drug addicts and not to mention my own
As a student in my school, I have been engaged in various forms of volunteer work and especially assisting weak students who were unable to cope up with their studies. So when my uncle made an offer to join AIDS, I gladly accepted the opportunity and targeted my aims to an achievable position
Taking advantage of summer holidays, I traveled to the rural villages of Sindh equipped with rudimentary Sindhi, a background of development economics and enthusiastic goals to establish change in the village. The first element that drew my attention was illiteracy and bleakness. I watched helplessly as children consumed grimy food and contaminated water, men wandered on fields encrusted with animal’s filth, women engaged in hard labor. A couple of more visits exposed me to the tenacious system of feudalship. I learned that many of the development projects which has commenced before were impeded by the landlords who assumed their efforts to ameliorate the villagers’ status as a disadvantage of their power and control. Many enthusiastic individuals who gave articulate speeches to induce change amongst the primitive convictions were censured for provoking the public and experienced severe punishment and public ignominy by the landlords. ...th this aim in mind, I returned from meeting, convinced about pursuing education abroad. I wish to enroll in a degree in Economics because I believe articulate economic policies can profoundly impact people’s lives and to a certain extent, eradicate poverty and promote development. This degree will equip me with sufficient knowledge and understanding which will be beneficial in introducing a change in deprived areas. At present, my endeavors are rendered futile because of my age and educational disadvantage but I believe they will yield prolific results in future when I attain this degree. This scholarship, I believe, will make some step easier for me. If this scholarship is granted to me, I will ensure that I will not be the only individual who will benefit from it but also many underprivileged people who are deprived of basic necessities and whose future is bleak.
