Gradually music has evolved over the generations starting from Mozart all the way to what we listen to today. Some people call music a way of life and how they can’t live without it, that just shows how much music impacts people’s life.. The Red Hot Chili Peppers made their songs to be off there lives or past experiences. While Bob Marley sang about love and peace in the world. Songs from bands or people mostly talk about their experiences. For people they can relate to the music they hear on the radio, pandora, ipods etc.. Small bands also have some local influence on people like in St Louis we have a band named The Urge, they were bigger back in the 90’s but they still have some impacts on the community. The Urge also just released a new album in november called Galvanized, Steve Ewing the lead singer has made some impacts on the community. One of them is that he owns a hot dog restaurant in the hill called Steve’s Hot Dogs on the Hill, and one in Scott AFB called Steve’s Sausages. Also when you go to one of the Urge’s concert you will hear their famous PTMFUS chant right before they come on stage . So that proves that every band big or small has some sort of impact or influence on the culture we have today Music has influenced many people both positively and negatively across the world; The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bob Marley are two of the many of people who paved the way for modern music that we listen to today.

The Grateful Dead was a famous rock and roll band throughout the 1960’s. They had a lot of ups and downs during their time as a band together. Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann were all in the band together. The Grateful Dead played a variety of music but mainly they were a rock and roll band; blues, reggae, country, folk, and space rock.
The Dave Matthews Band has been a musical power house for years. They have meshed together almost every type of music together to create their extremely unique sounds and attractiveness towards their music. Dave Matthews, lead singer and guitarist from South Africa has put together a band that no one will ever be able to create again. Dave picked four extremely talented and unique sounding men to join his band and together they have created some amazing music. The members of the band include Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Leroi Moore on saxophone and one of the best drummers in the world, Carter Beauford. Together these men will one day leave behind a similar reputation as one of the all time greatest "jam" bands of time.
Music can be traced back into human history to prehistoric eras. To this day archeologists uncover fragments of ancient instruments as well as tablets with carved lyrics buried alongside prominent leaders and highly influential people. This serves as a testament to the importance and power of music, as well as its influence in society. Over its many years of existence, music’s powerful invocation of feelings has allowed it to evolve and serve many purposes, one being inspiring change. American journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson once said, “Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel.” This fuel is the very things that powers the influence of Rock ‘n’ Roll on American society, that author Glenn C. Altschuler writes about in his book, “All Shook Up – How Rock ‘n’ Roll Changed America.” Between 1945 and 1965 Rock ‘n’ Roll transformed American society and culture by helping to ease racial integration and launch a sexual revolution while most importantly developing an intergenerational identity.

Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, Alternative Grunge bands from the 90s, were very influential to today’s bands. Grunge music started in the early 90s, mainly from the Seattle scene. Metallica, Kiss, and even Led Zeppelin helped make alternative music start. Although these bands were very famous in the 90s, many of them suffered from substance abuse and even depression. After years of being famous some bands split completely, some formed new bands with members in other bands, and even some stayed together and play together today. All bands believed that people should be able to afford music and listen to what they enjoy, not what other people want you to listen to. Bands from the 90s have influenced some of
On October 23, 2016 I went to a concert type of event that different music groups were performing. This event is what Hispanics call a “Jaripeo Baile,” which is a place that people can see other people bull riding like in the rodeo, but this event was only about music groups performing. One of the music groups that performed was a band called “Josecito Leon y Su Internacional Banda Roja.” While I watched the band’s performance it reminded me of how it relates to the themes that were from our readings and discussions that we had throughout the semester.
The members of the group are Jimmy Page, born on April 9, 1944, Robert Plant, born on August 24, 1948, John Paul Jones, born on January 3, 1946, and John Bonham born on May 31, 1948.
Another founding member of the band was Bev Bevan. He was born Beverly Bevan in Birmingham, U.K. on November 25, 1945. He formed his first professional band, called Denny Lain and the Diplomats, in 1963.He retired from music to become a furniture salesman, but then joined Carl Wayne and the Vikings. He then later joined The Move and helped create ELO. (Petersdorff 4)
Eddie Vedder at lead singer, bass player Jeff Ament, drummer Matt Cameron, and guitarists Mike McCready and Stone Gossard set off to start an unforgettable sound in punk rock which is known as the grunge era. Pearl Jam would start with their first album “Ten,” this album would then sell ten million copies. A lot of bands came out of
While going through our history of rock and roll course, one thing has become apparent, and that is that music brings people together. Sometimes it takes music to get a point across, and our world has endured a lot of social and a cultural change, which is how we music today. Just like our world is evolving, music is the same way. When a baby is born until the day it dies, it has evolved internally and externally and that is the same way I view the history of rock “n” roll. For instance, the great wars and the civil rights movement help influence to history of rock and roll. It gave people a purpose to listen to music and let artist express themselves through their songs. I’m not saying by any means that all the struggles we as a nation have
Paramore’s band members consist of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis, and guitarist Taylor York. It all started in 2004 when a teenage girl named Hayley Williams moved from Meridian, Mississippi to Franklin, Tennessee (Paramore). There she meet brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro at a home school program. Hayley joined a small band with the brothers and Jeremy Davis. At the time the brothers and Jeremy were not sure if they wanted to be in a band with a female being the lead vocalist. After some time the band was formed with Hayley being the lead vocalist, Josh Farro was on the guitar, Zac Farro was on the drums, and Jeremy Davis was the bassist. In 2010 Josh Farro and Zac Farro decided to leave the band and were replaced with Taylor York, guitarist, and Ilan Rubin was the new drummer (Paramore).
Motown Records was founded in 1959 by Berry Gordy who turned his music production company into history’s most successful black-owned record label company.
Most things have their beginnings in something small: a word, a breath, or idea; but not music. Music begins with a single vibration. It explodes and carries on, morphing worlds of unrelated personas. It lives rampantly in the mouths of millions of unruly and free-spirited teenagers, like a fever. The rock 'n roll trend that defiantly rose against the conformist ideology of the mid-twentieth century left remnants that commenced the start of a progressing society: a culture that redefined the rules of society and pushed social and moral limits while addressing social concerns.
