Imagine moving to Japan when you are seven years old. Growing up in the military I have seen a good portion of the world. Japan though is to date the most memorable. See when you are a kid everything is new and exciting to you, more so when you think you are going to go see things that you only see on television. I am talking ninjas, samurai, and shogun. I was going to see it all. I would find out there was more to the Japanese culture than I knew at the time.
It was 1989 I had just turned seven when I found out I would be living in Japan for a few years. I had loved watching samurai movies and movies with ninjas in it, I knew I would love Japan. On the plane ride over there I was asking my dad every question in the book about the people and if I will see ninjas. His reply was something to the point of if you see them then they are not good ninjas are they. Upon landing on Yokota Air Force Base I realized my thoughts about Japan where completely wrong. There were no Samurai to greet us no ancient castles in the background I had been ripped off.

Have you ever been to other countries? And did you know how are they different from your country? The culture of Hawaii fascinates people in Hawaii because at first glance, it seems so different. I am Japanese, and when I was senior in high school, I lived in Hawaii for one year. Hawaiian people have very unique culture, so they have totally different personality, clothes, and daily life in comparison with Japan.
My name is Makino Toshio and I am a second generation Japanese-American. My father moved to Hawaii before coming to the mainland, like most Japanese-Americans. Before World War II, I worked on a Japanese truck farm. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, tension was bad for any Japanese-American in the United States. Many people in the United States did not trust people with Japanese ancestry. A store that I usually shop at had a sign in the window saying, “We don’t want any Japs back here-EVER! Within hours after the bombing of Pearl Harbor at Hawaii, FBI agents went house to house and rounded up 1,212 Japanese in the U.S. mainland and Hawaii islands. Most of the arrests were prominent leaders in Japanese communities. All of them were taken to unknown destinations and treated as Prisoners of War.

Being born in a different country and end up in a different place could be very hard and frustrating.
Japan is part of our world that not many people know, for the few that do, they know that Japan is filled with an extraordinary history. Some of the history starts with little traditions like, the tradition of kimono’s, to big ones such as their well known Japanese festivals. Ancient Japan was a series of islands and many cultural expansions which included religion, armies, art, classic traditions, and their type of clothing. Ancient Japanese is still alive today, from basic works of art, to then a following of certain religions such as Shinto and Buddhism. Many Americans don’t the cultural aspects that were attributed by many across the world, they don’t know that many of those aspects made what Japan is today in society.
What kind of effects did migrating have on the people who did it? Many people and races immigrated to the U.S in the search for a better living condition. Most went for job opportunities and the struggle of racial discrimination. Although these are two factors behind the reason of immigration, there's many more that caused these people to feel the need to leave their homeland. One similarity between all the immigration groups is that they all were pushed and pulled by some factor. The Japanese we're pushed to America hearing news that “money grew on trees”. The Japanese first emigrated to the hawaiian islands, because of reasons such as hunger, debts, high taxes, economic hardship and the search for jobs. The Japanese Economy & nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp; The prewar economy of Japan was a Socialist economy and the country was ruled by an emperor up to WW2 and after WW2 it started to lean towards a mixed market economy until what it is today, although its government is Socialist it is leaning towards a mixed market economy. & nbsp; The Japanese economy is a mixed economy that leans towards market, it is like this because almost all businesses are run by private corporations or people. and that is the market of the economy. And the reason that they are thriving and are so competitive is because of the trade tariffs and quotas that the government has in place. These regulations include heavy taxes on some products.
In conclusion, everyone in Japan had a life that’s either easy-going or harsh. Japan has an intriging way of life from the start of the Jomon period all the way to the end of the Yayoi period. I enjoyed learning about their way of life and how their families cared for one another. After learning so much about Ancient Japan, I realized what seems normal to us may seem unusual to the Japanese people. To conclude, Ancient Japan is an exclusive civilization which we should learn more about throughout history.
Japan has very significant characteristics in terms of their economic power either in the Asia- Pacific region or around the world. After World War II the Japanese economy was deeply affected by shortages, inflation, and currency devaluation means that Japanese economy was bankrupt position. Therefore, Japan passed under the control of US in the post- Second World War period. From this point, economic transformation or recovery or development has started in Japan with the impacts of US and Japanese governments. Besides this economic aid, US also guided Japan in democratization and demilitarization whereas Japanese government had direct role dealing with those developments different from what happened in Germany at that time. What it means that is Japanese government had played interventionist role into economy. On the other hand, one of the significant reasons of why US needed to help former enemy is the fact that after the WWII was the beginning of the Cold War and Russian presence was in the region. The Japanese culture is quite harmonious, respectful, and hardworking. Their culture is made up highly of being respectful of others, family, and nature. They value their elders, history, tradition, religion, family, government, nature, education, and work.
