“Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.”, is a quote by His Holiness The Dalai Lama, in regards for animals. Animal testing, also known as animal research, refers to the use of nonhuman animals in scientific experimentation. Vertebrate animals, including mice, birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs and cats are annually used worldwide for analysis. Animal rights are an extremely delicate matter; opposing sides have valid reasons for or against animal testing. Those who support this motion argue that the advantages of animal testing have brought the development of new medicines, cosmetics and understanding to surgeries that were once considered impossible, as well. They argue that animal testing has brought new information that is necessary for human life. Those who stand against animal testing argue that animals have rights and that they also should be protected. They argue that animals should not have to risk their lives for the development of human needs. They strongly emphasize that there should be other alternatives for the purpose of testing harmful, and life threatening performances. Although, animal testing has reduced some diseases, controlled others, and saved many lives, it has also taken away many lives that were once vibrant. Is animal testing for humanity right or wrong? The choice between human welfare and animal welfare has left a damper on the decision to keep animal research available or outlaw it. The use for animal testing serves as educational, experimental, and fundamental purposes. Generally speaking, animal testing has brought educational values. Through this practice, doctors have found ... ... middle of paper ... ...ies. Cosmetics is another form of animal experiment. Even though it is wrong to test an unknown product against a life it is morally wrong to inflict pain just for the satisfactory of money. If animal testing had to take place, would one rather it is for a medical purpose, which can save a life? Animal rights activists argue against animal testing simply because they strongly favor the “animals have right too” campaign, but a person on the contrary could be saved because of the exact thing they are strongly against. This is not a matter that can be cleared over night; in fact, this has been going on for centuries and scientists and animal rights activists still manage to bump heads. Better alternatives will lead to better outcomes and diverse some tension amongst animal rights activists and scientists. A world with no tension is a leads to a world with relaxation.
