Katniss seems to change a lot in all three books, there are many sides to Katniss some being agitated, angry, and gentle. Katniss has dark brown hair and Brown eyes. Throughout the book Katniss is almost always on a script when speaking aloud, she is creating videos or “propos” to bring down the capitol. She is mainly trying to get all the districts on her side when they battle the capitol. She uses President Snow’s words to bring him down, like when she tells all of the districts and possibly the capitol that President Snow told her that the capitol is very fragile (meaning that the districts provide the capitol with food, water, building materials, and Peacekeepers) without the districts the Capitol will either learn to farm and mine or …show more content…
So she creates “videos” to be aired that might affect the choices of the districts, she is basically trying to get the districts on her side for the upcoming war. this develops throughout the story by having Katniss make recordings called “propos” to change the districts minds about which side to be on. 11 of the districts are on her side but district 2 (the one who provides the capitol with Peacekeepers) is against the rebellion. Melodic (p 122), Denotation- To make or produce a melody, Connotation- Pollux is interacting with the Mockingjay that might have brought up a lot of emotions of Rue which would make her want the capitol even more. Frantic (p 144), Denotation- to have fear anxiety and other emotions about something, Connotation- It shows some of the emotions towards the capitol that Katniss feels throughout the book. In both books, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are introduced as the main characters to project the criticisms made by the author. Susan Collins creates a Dystopian society ruled by the Capital. Different areas of their country, named Panem, are separated into different districts. This part of the journey begins when Rue dies. Katniss tried to save her and failed. She shares her struggle when she shares, "Rue's death has forced me to confront my own fury against the cruelty, the injustice they inflict upon us. But here, even more strongly than at home, I feel my impotence. “There's no way to take revenge on the Capitol. Is there?” (Collins 1364). This produced the mockingjay, and as Katniss states, they were ‘something of a slap in the face to the Capitol’ (The Hunger Games, pg. 43 ) All of the mockingjays’ appearances in the story have had great meaning or importance. They were first mentioned as a reminder of Katniss’s father; the days they would go hunting and he would sing to the mocking jays. This is an important part of Katniss’s past and has shaped who she is now.
Katniss is the main character in the novel, The Hunger Games. The author of this book is Suzanna Collins. Katniss is a 16 year old who has been chosen with 23 other tributes. In my class we have studied themes and key ideas such as Power of the Capitol, Competition against other tributes and Sacrifice for what Katniss acts and does in the Hunger Games. There are many themes but I have chosen these 3 because they show the most emotions and power.
The first difference I saw in the Hunger Games was that people from different districts are not supposed to talk to each other, let alone go to another district. It was against the law to go to another district. Katniss did not like to talk to others anyway, just being by herself in the woods made her more comfortable. She did not like the socialization factor mostly because she thought she was not as good or as classy as the others. Her personality traits suffered as well, from not being more outgoing as a child. She thought as long as she kept to herself, she would be okay. Without these social connections, Katniss would have lost the key functions in our society today.
The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.
...nt, Katniss decides not to play by the rules anymore and she splits a handful of poison berries with Peeta. She decides that she is not going to let the “Gods” manipulate the game anymore. Right before they eat the berries the leader’s voice comes overhead and tells them that they have both one. The reason he decides to do this is because the crowd would be incredibly disappointed if the “show” ended this way. This is Katniss’ true show of courage, to defy the leaders/Gods and make her own ending. It can be said that this was Katniss’ destiny or fate: that she was meant to win the Hunger Games.
In Mockingjay, Collins has again artfully modified adult themes of war and conflict to appeal to younger readers, but the work's overall emphasis has shifted the tone of the entire series. A major theme that plays out in the movies is one of sacrifice. Katniss’ ultimate sacrifice was volunteering for her sister, Prim, when she was chosen for the 74th Hunger Games. We can relate this sacrifice in a way to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and his suffering beforehand. Jesus gave up his life to save humanity from sin, giving us salvation and a place in the Kingdom of Heaven. Katniss experiences many sacrifices within the arena itself as well. When Peeta was hurt by the Careerers, Katniss runs out to the Cornucopia and is almost killed by Clove. This event showed Katniss’ willingness to sacrifice her life to get medicine for someone she cared about. Katniss, in Catching Fire, also sacrificed her life again when she
The third installment of The Hunger Games series is Mockingjay. It leaves off with Katniss Everdeen (the main protagonist) in a massive underground bunker known as District 13. She is sent there when her own homeland (district 12) is obliterated after she rebelled in the last Hunger Games she participated in (where two people from every district fight to the death, leaving a lone winner.) That particular event didn’t go as President Snow (the main antagonist) planned. Since she is the female victor from district 12, she is in the 74th Hunger Games. She sees how painful and scary it is and so she tries to stop the capital which is who is controlling everything. She doesn’t want that to happen to anyone else. She rebels against President Snow in plan of eventually killing him to take over the capital and change the world. Teens can relate to this because a lot of the time we feel controlled. It might be by a parent, teacher, grandparent or someone else but all of us are controlled by someone. A lot of teenagers end up rebelling because they feel as if they have no choices. They go against the rules of who they are rebelling against. That persons rules and values are not necessarily right. Who decides what is right? It seems as if we have entered into a state time where there is no right and wrong. Katniss breaks free of that control and does her own thing. Another way teens can relate to the hunger games is through the love triangle. Some of us might have a similar situation of where we might like two people. In the movie it says, “What I need is not Gales fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can
At the beginning of this scene, it shows that Katniss received a small metal water bottle in the film, however, the water bottle she received in the book was plastic and half of a gallon. This is meaning that all of the contributors gave a lot more in the book rather the film. Also that she had more fans on her side rooting for her in the book and she didn’t do something right in the film. In the film, Katniss finds out that Peeta is with a group of other tributes after they killed a girl from district eight. Showing in the film that Peeta is actually with the other tributes and getting along with them in the movie shows that he is trying to get everyone he can on his team during the games. However, in the book, Katniss finds out that Peeta volunteers to go back and kill the girl from district eight by himself. This is making Peeta sound more sentimental and more caring rather than the film. At the end of the first day in the book it says that only eleven tributes had been killed. But it showed in the film that thirteen tributes had been killed. Having more people die is showing that they are taking this more serious and they are way more ruthless in the film and not the book. While Katniss took a nap in a tree she was awoken by animals running away from a fire that the capitol started. On the other hand, in the film she is awoken by only the fire and there were not any animals

She values everyone's life and she does not believe that innocent people have to die to make a point of a situation. The main character, Katniss, volunteers as tribute for her district to save her sister from having to be tribute. Upon arriving in the Capitol for the games, she sees just how vast the gap between the Capitol and districts are. To fight against this class struggle, she begins to revolt. At first this comes in the form of small things, like shooting an arrow at a pig feast of Capitol higher-ups and refusing to kill her friend in the games, resulting in the first ever co-victors of the Hunger Games. Katniss’ actions soon lead to full blown rebellion in the districts, starting a revolutionary war between them and the Capitol.
