The phone in its early stages

One of the earliest recorded experiments on creating communication that can be transmitted from

a distance where direct speech is not attainable were those conducted by the British physicist and

polymath Robert Hooke from 1664 to 1685. An acoustic string phone made in 1667 is attributed

to him. But the true surge of these communication devices started at the 20th century; On April 3,

1973 Motorola manager Martin Cooper placed a cellular phone call (in front of reporters) to Dr.

Joel S. Engel, head of research at AT&T's Bell Labs. This began the era of the handheld cellular

mobile phone. The phone later on became a necessity just like any other.

The Smart Phone

The latest and popular version of these handheld cellular phones is the Smart Phone. “[They are]

powerful connected devices that give users access to the full power of the internet to

communicate with each other in a variety of ways. … A single smart phone can handle them all”

(Duffy 1). Thomas J. Duffy also said that “Smartphones are the personal computers of the

future” (2). “Small, stylish and versatile modern mobile devices [that] have become powerful

tools… [.]” (Meier 1)

Smart phones these days are so compact and lightweight, but it wasn’t always that way. Back in

1994, According to Duffy (2013), “IBM and Bellsouth introduced the first smart phone as a joint

effort and called it the IBM Simon.” It had all the cellular capabilities and also includes a

As you can see this is another innovation of the cellular phone that progresses on the right track.

I believe I have truly persuaded you. I have nothing more to conclude, thank you and that is all
