Post Lab Report # 4 1. Introduction One distinctive element in world stories is that economics was developed within the context of an engineering technology, therefore industrial world require better economic technique and innovation for getting proper benefit from their goods. For this purpose the equipments by which the goods are manufacture are likely to be cent percent efficient or approaches to it. regardless of their nature and purpose. Moreover the globe facing the energy decline and energy along with their resourses is becoming rare and rare in every tick of the clock. Today!.. the burning question is that how the man can save the natural resourses whether it is power, water or even gas. The report deals with the technology by which industrial sector can reduce their energy consumption also their supplier reduce the distribution cost. 2. Theory Electric Motor is an essential machine in almost all industries for their manufacturing work, having this much importance motor has an issue which is very big in electricity distribution and industrial view point, that is motor draw more current in its starting upto five to six times from its nominal value. This problem is resolve by the use of the device called Electric motor starter. Next section mainly concern tha what is starter. 3. Motor Starter A larger motor require some switching and controlling mechanism to be start in economical manner, there are some techniques through which the starting current of motor can control to reduce energy cost it is nothing but a starter. In the later section reports discuss various types of starter. 3.1 Types of Motor Starter There are various types of starter stated and explain below. 3.1.1 Direct Online Starter (DOL) Direct online starters... ... middle of paper ... ...tarters are important and essential part where ever the electric motor is used, as discuss above in the without it motor starts at extremely high current, by this many unwanted things will occur, such as by increasing the current the distribution company should equipped there system (machines) rated as the starting current which is draw only for few seconds (till getting some specific RPMs) also industries get it expensive without starter to use electric motor in their application. 5. Conclusion The report emphasizing on technology by which the industrial applications are held economically! This is which extremely important for the business point of view also for efficient work of the industrial equipment. In short save energy save money for nature for future. The Physics Behind the Power of an Engine Insert the key, turn, and vroom. And down the road you go. Most people take for granted the strange conglomeration of metal and plastic under that sheet of metal, either in front or back of their vehicle. The engine, as you may have guessed, is a modern marvel- so to speak. They’re found in cars, trucks, boats, airplanes.
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
...late 17th century, and beginning of the 18th century, transportation was favored by American society so much, the wealthier would hire chauffer’s to take people places. So not only did the motor produce a better and more efficient life style, it also created a huge business industry, as we know it today called, “valeting”. The actual motor worked like this. “Two cups filled with mercury would contain a magnet and a wire with one being fixed and the other free to move. Whenever a current was passed through the wire, the free moving magnet or wire would revolve around its fixed partner due to the electromagnet forces being produced.” (History of Innovation). This first motor was a prime example of the fact that movement could be created by electricity and electricity could be created by friction. This motor was the most useful and applicable invention in the 1800’s.
The future American commuter will undoubtedly have to transition from the use of fossil fuels to new alternatives due to the diminishing availability of the nation’s oil resources. How will America respond to this upcoming issue? It is difficult to predict which alternative fuel source America will ultimately choose, but with the premier of Nissan’s electric powered Leaf and other companies; such as Tesla Motors and Chevy, with their electric cars ready for market, the electric car may be winning the race to become the new standard for the gasoline alternative. Electric cars resolve long standing environmental issues, but it will need to maneuver around many roadblocks to become a marketable consideration for the general public. The cost of electric cars, currently on the market, makes them an impractical purchase for the average consumer. If cost is not the growing concern in today’s economy which prevents the consumer from considering this option; they may deny the technological advance due to battery storage capabilities and the inadequate infrastructure in place to refuel and provide for them.
Rolling-element bearings in electric motors support and locate the rotor, maintain a small and consistent air gap between the rotor and stator, and transfer loads from the shaft to the motor frame. The correct bearings for an application let a motor run efficiently across its design speed range, minimize friction and power loss, produce little noise, and have a long service life.
Firstly, I would like to discuss the beginning of technology and how it has quickly changed. From 1822, the first rotating device that used electromagnetism that was built by Peter Barlow. To then, 12 years later in May 1834, the first actual working electric motor was built by Moritz Jacobi. 4 years later, in September 1838, Jacobi then improved the first electric motor, it was now powerful enough to drive a boat across a (wide) river, filled with 14 people. Although it wasn’t until 1839/1840 that other inventors, worldwide, were able to build motors that were of a higher performance. However, it wasn’t until 1868, that the first power station was built. The power station was used to power; lights, heating, inventions that produced hot water, an elevator, life saving devices and farm buildings. It wasn’t although until 1882, that the public power station started operation. Therefore technology advances, are our friend.
The exact workings of different brushless DC motors depend on the type of timing device used. This example uses a Reed switch.
Energy efficient motors use more copper and iron than regular motors. They also consume less energy than regular motors.
The design of simple electric generator is performed to testify three important physics concepts by three hypothesizes. Based on the transformation and conservation of energy, knowing that the total energy of an isolated system cannot change, but can be transformed from other forms. The first hypothesize is spinning the nail can lighten the bulb which can testify the basic idea of electromagnetic Induction. The second hypothesize is the number of the coils which are winded on the device is deciding factor of whether the bulb is lightened or not. This is the application of solenoid that the strength of magnetic field produced by a current is directly proportional to the number of turns in the solenoid. The third hypothesize the little bulb will be lightened after spinning the magnet at a certain speed. This one can reflect the electromagnetic induction which explain the process of transformation from magnetic force to electromotive force across a conductor. Comparative experiments are needed on testifying the second and the third hypothesizes while the first one does not need.
This prototype will be powered by a Tractor by using belt driven pulley the power will be transferred to the moving mechanical parts of this attachment
It is very simple, from the name itself we can understand that there is induction process occurred. Actually when we are giving the supply to the stator winding, flux will generate in the coil due to flow of current in the coil. Now the rotor winding is arranged in such a way that it becomes short circuited in the rotor itself. The flux from the stator will cut the coil in the rotor and since the rotor coils are short circuited, according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, current will start flowing in the coil of the rotor. When the current will flow, another flux will get generated in the rotor. Now there will be two flux, one is stator flux and another is rotor flux and the rotor flux will be lagging to the stator flux. Due to this, the rotor will feel a torque which will make the rotor to rotate in the direction of rotating magnetic flux. So the speed of the rotor will be depending upon the ac supply and the speed can be controlled by varying the input supply. This is the working principle of an induction motor of either
The turbine shaft is then connected to the alternator in the generator. The main job of the alternator is to use and absorb the kinetic or otherwise mechanical energy produced by the turbine device to create rotational motion and as a result produce electricity (OXLADE 2011). The rotation of the turbine shaft in turn causes the inner workings of the generator to rotate as well. These inner modules work collectively to cause relative movement between the magnetic and electric fields, which in turn generates electricity. The inner modules will include the stator which is the fixed and motionless module that comprises a set of electrical conductors convoluted in coils over an iron core and the armature which is the poignant module that produces a rotating magnetic field. In the space within the generator above identified as the stator, there are two polar field magnets that create a magnetic field.
There is no doubt that electric cars are the most appealing from of transportation in the world. They provide two of the most important key points of good transportation: reliable and efficient. They are reliable due to their simplicity of their power trains and the advancement of technology they have. They are efficient because they don't use any gasoline and because their motors can pass the zero-emission standard. Even though they may seem like a boring form of transportation, they offer good features that help keep the Earth's air clean and they help reduce pollution.
The present technology has found its use in almost every sector making the industries, businesses and institutions to use it for their daily activities since it brings a lot of benefits.
In 21st century almost all devices work with electricity. Electricity makes activity of people easier and more comfortable. Moreover, it plays a great role in development of medicine, science, education, transport and other spheres of human’s life. However, electricity production is becoming more and more problematic because the biggest part of energy for electricity is produced by natural resources, which are neither infinite nor renewable. It means that one day mineral reserves can run out, and, as a result, there will be risk of possible energy crisis. This situation stimulates humanity to transfer to renewable power system. Countries around the world are promoting sustainable energy policies, particularly to reduce greenhouse effect that contributes to severe problems such as Global warming and acid rain (Energy Information Administration (EIA) 2010). The problem of alternative energy source search is also popular in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is extremely abundant in natural resources, especially in fossil fuels, which are mainly used as energy sources to generate electricity (CIA Factbook 2011). To be more precise, almost 60% of 4.6 billion kilowatt energy that was produced in Kazakhstan in 2008 came from coal, nearly 35 % - from natural gas and oil, 3% of electricity was created by hydro and nuclear electric stations and rest energy was imported from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan (EIA 2010). It seems that the electricity production in Kazakhstan is mainly based on coal and other minerals. Therefore it is important to find an alternative source of energy in Kazakhstan to reduce its reliance on coal and to avoid power crisis and other negative effects of non-renewable energy usage. Since the territory of Kazakhstan is ...
