A surplus amount of buildings all throughout the world make jaws drop because of the mind-blowing structures. Buildings do put people in awe and catch a person’s eye in just a second. Many buildings such as the Burj Khalifa, Statue of Liberty, and the Eiffel tower are all beautiful and famous pieces of architecture that just amazes society. Many pieces of architecture are beautiful. But, imagine going to Agra, India where a majestic building stands. A glorious white castle-like structure made with pure marble. This mesmerizing building is the Taj Mahal. Even though it was built in 1632, this building is in marvelous shape. The Taj is also one of the greatest wonders of the world for a couple of reasons. Many people just think about how beautiful this building may be no one thinks why and how it was built or how this one building have affected the world.

The builder of the Taj Mahal was Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan was fifth Mughal emperor of India and was also one of the greatest emperor(Hans 1). He had a wife named Mumtaz Mahal that he dearly loved and kept her close to her heart. As years passed with their marriage, Mahal was going to give birth to their daughter (Hans 1). Sadly, as Mahal was giving birth, she had passed away and so did her baby daughter. Mumtaz died in the year of 1631. Before Mumtaz Mahal had died, she left a dying wish for Shah Jahan. Mumtaz wanted a big funeral so she would be remembered as queen(Burke 1). After the day Mahal died, Shah Jahan decided he wanted to fulfill. So, Jahan planned for many years and then he wanted to build a massive funeral. So, Shah Jahan ordered over 2,000 people and 1000 elephants were used to finish the Taj (Taylor 1). Also, the marble of the Taj is getting pock marks in it and the air pollution is weakening it. Historians are trying to repair these marks daily and replacing tiles the old method(Taylor 2). The effects on the Taj Mahal has alarmed the Indian government. India is trying to change laws to make the use of fossil fuels a less of a use.

The Taj Mahal has had many causes and effects on society. The Taj Mahal is built by Shah Jahan for his wife as a tribute to their love when she died. It holds so much beauty that it attracts a huge amount of visitors. Also, the air pollution is changing the Taj Mahal and people are trying to help improve it. The stunning Taj Mahal has contributed to cause and effects in the world in so many ways.
