Electricity plays a main role in our world. It's important to know how electricity works and how electricity is created. Electricity could either be made by renewable and non-renewable source. Renewable can be created by itself and non-renewable can't recreate by itself. A non-renewable source requires fossil fuels while renewable does not. My renewable source is solar power and for non-renewable fossil fuel is coal.
Solar power is a renewable alternative energy. The sun helps the solar power to produce energy and converted to electricity. The sun provides the earth with two major forms of energy, heat and light. There are three ways types of solar power solar cells, solar water heating and solar furnaces, but the most common solar power is solar is solar cells. How solar cells works is when there is a sunny climate the sun reflects in to the solar power so that it can get electricity. Most solar power systems utilize heat energy for heating will the others transform light into electricity. Solar Power is not only for house use but also for cars. Now in days, vehicles run on with solar power. According to (makeitsolar.com), it says, “PV panels as a direct power source that convert light energy into electricity to power their motors. When sun is not available, cars will not run, so, is better to have a car powered by batteries that can recharged with solar energy” describes how solar power is the better way to save electricity and could easily recharged when sun is available at no cost. Solar power is the better way to save electricity without using house power or car battery.
Coal is a fossil fuel that can be use to create electricity. In order for coal to create electricity it requires mining, transport of power plants...

Coal is considerably one of the most important sources of energy in nature and is one the most significant sources for power generation worldwide. The excavation and importance of coal became mainstream and apparent during the Industrial Revolution of the 19th and 20th centuries.
How coal is formed is quite an interesting topic. It started over millions of years ago in ancient swamps when vegetation and trees died and formed peat (it is where vegetation builds up and turns into a super messy pile of stuff). This peat was eventually covered with either dirt or sand. As the peat is covered and pressure the gas that the peat gives off starts to get trapped in the new forming coal. Several years the peat now turns to rock known as coal. As the planetary plates shift the coal moves and forms pockets and runs in the earth. Then people came along and found out how to harness is power. People had to get the coal out of the earth. One way they found out how to get it out was to dig it out of the underground tunnels to find where the coal runs. Another way to get the coal is to strip mine the coal this is where the miners remove huge amounts of dirt to get to the coal. Both of these mining techniques are extremely dangers.
As of 2008 the United States only 8.8% of the power they use is renewable, 71.9% fossil fuels, and 19.2% nuclear (Heinrichs, 18). Renewable energy sources are energy sources that can continuously be replenished without producing pollution. Right now the world depends on fossil fuels for energy but they are running out of them and need to find an alternative energy source. As more people are being born the demand for energy is rising and we need different ways to get it. Without a doubt renewable energy sources are better than fossil fuels because they do the same thing but in a cleaner and renewable way, but what you use the energy for always depends on how you get that energy to see if it’s worth it (Konrad). Although many people see renewable energy sources as positive alternatives, they do not know what negative effects they can have.
Ever since its discovery, electricity has played a major role in many aspects of human life in a positive and negative way. For instance, the availability of cheap electricity has positively influenced different facets of human life. However, the generation of electricity has also caused a negative impact on the environment.
Lower quality coal is used for generating electricity. To generate electricity they burn the coal in a power plant to produce steam. The steam then travels through a turbine and generates power. The higher quality coal is used for making iron and steel. Coal is retrieved from nature by mining, either from an underground mine or from an aboveground mine. Due to the difficulty of underground mining coal from underground mines sells for more money. After the coal is mined it is processed to remove impurities from it. Lastly it is transported, “The cost of shipping coal can be more than the cost of mining it.” (US Energy Information Administration, 2013). Transportation methods include, truck, barge, train, and pipeline.
Coal production in the world has been a revolutionary aspect for humans. Life today as we know it is easy because of the significant impact coal had during the Industrial Revolution. Coal is namely one of the cheapest energy sources available on Earth when being compare to oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy but it creates a few problems when it’s used, specifically environmental ones. Nonetheless this energy resource has been a key concept for many countries as it has provided them with a booming economy. An example would be China who is one of the largest producers and consumers of this energy resource.
One of the main types of renewable energy that we have used the most is the wind energy. Wind energy is the energy produced from the power of the wind. Throughout the 20th century, wind energy was used by sailboats as a fuel to move the boat in different directions. In the past, this was the most frequent way for shipment of goods. Sailboats were also used as a method of transportation. Also, wind energy is used to power wind turbines and convert the wind energy into electricity. Without the wind energy, the production of electricity and the shipment of goods would have been very difficult and perhaps life on earth might have perished. Thus, the efficient ways of using the renewable energy such as wind energy has played an enormous role to our existence and it has made engineers more successful at harnessing
In my opinion, coal is not a good fuel to use for the production of electricity. I believe this because, even though the way coal is mined and burned as been improved, there is an impact on the environment, which results in global warming. There are many different sources that can be used to produce electricity, including; solar power, wind power, hydroelectricity, geothermal electricity and biomass. All of these examples have a smaller, if not no, impact on the environment and are sustainable.
So, what is coal? Coal is a fossil fuel and is the altered remains of prehistoric vegetation and organisms that originally accumulated in swamps and peat bogs. The energy we get from coal today comes from the energy that plants absorbed from the sun millions of years ago.
The drastically increasing prices of fossil fuel and gasoline are making it harder for us to afford it. The fossil fuel is a natural resource which is reducing the supply of our reserves every second. It is one of the main sources for spreading pollution and global warming which is affecting our health as well as our environment. Solar energy is a suitable replacement of fossil fuel in term of green environment, recyclable, affordability and long lasting. Although, there are still many issues with solar energy which needs to be solved, but its availability far exceeds any conceivable future energy demands. A number of benefits could be gained from solar energy which includes dishes that concentrate the sun rays to heat fluid which drives engine and produce power. The installation of solar energy panel is very convenient and it could be attached on the roof of the car and building or any surface which has direct access to sun light in order to generate cheap and affordable electricity.
Solar power is energy efficient, what is meant by that is that solar power cannot ever run out as long as it is installed properly. Solar power cells is a source of electrical energy that converts a powerful source of energy such as the sun into electricity, using it’s energy to create electrical currents within the solar panel. Solar panels produce electricity using technology called “Solar Photovoltaic (PV)”.
Coal is a combustible sedimentary rock of organic origin made mainly of Carbon 50 – 98 per cent, Hydrogen 3 -13 per cent and oxygen. There is also small amounts of nitrogen, sulphur, and other elements. Some water is always present. Coal is also a fossil fuel and is a non-renewable resource. The major coal (BLACK COAL) has may uses for example generating electricity in power stations,
The traditional, non renewable form energy is created by fossil fuels, such as coal, gas, and oil. The process begins at a power plant (primary energy source) where, heat exerted from burnin, are transformed into electrical energy. This creates high-pressured steam to form a turbine, which allows a rotor to power the generator. There an electrical current is created through the process of induction, by spinning an electrical current and conductor around each other. There the electrical energy or voltage is sent through a series of transformers, where various circuits until it reaches a building.
A solar Photovoltaic panel (PV cells) captures the suns energy using photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic cells look similar to solar panels but are different and they work in a different way. Solar panels are normally used to produce hot water. But the PV cells convert the sunlight directly into electricity. An example could be a solar powered calculator which is powered by photovoltaic cells. The PV cells don’t directly need sunlight to work unlike solar panels, they can still generate electricity on cloudy days. Basically PV cells can produce small amount of energy when the sun isn’t even out, however the sunnier it is the more power is generated. And also the current building regulations, requires the developers to reduce the amount of carbon emitted from new buildings as part of the Governments objective of achieving zero carbon emissions from all the new buildings by the end of the decade. Solar panel is one of the most popular sustainable technology at this moment because of its benefits which are
There are two types of resources using to produce electricity, non-renewable energy resources and renewable energy resources. Non-renewable energy resources or known by fossil fuel such as wood, oil, gas and coal can be defined as solid, liquid or gaseous fuels formed in the ground after millions of years by chemical and physical changes in plants and animal residues under high temperature and pressure.
