War is all around us. Not just the kind of what you see on TV with bombs and guns and death. There are smaller wars going on in the world today that people don't even realize may cause more harm to innocent lives then to those of our nations enemies. The main war going on is the one on gay recognition. There is much talk about this topic, especially on the lives that were taken because of a lifestyle choice that some people couldn't control. Acceptance is what most people are afraid of but also opinions of the another persons point of view is really what they can't accept. If we could find a way to give un-biased rights to everyone so that everyone can have it their way, we can be one step closer to ending a war. Little do people realize that there is a policy here in America that could give us this opportunity. This is why all states should adopt civil union rights because it would give fair equality, it's a policy that could be adopter by everyone, and it can provide peace on this topic in the US.
Before we get into why civil union should be adopted in the the US, you need to understand what civil union is. An article written by Kathy Belge helps explain and clear of questions about the difference between marital and civil union status. She states "First of all, What is Marriage? When people marry, they tend to do so for reasons of love and commitment. But marriage is also a legal status, which comes with rights and responsibilities. Marriage establishes a legal kinship between you and your spouse. It is a relationship that is recognized across cultures, countries and religions.

And finally there can be peace in this topic just like there is peace nowadays on the color of peoples skin. Same-sex couples will finally get to lifestyle even trying to achieve, the protagonist can file sense of achievement and people won't look at them like evil people. I will also bring peace towards the Catholic Church on people's perception of gay being hated when reality they're loved and excepted by Christians because they're just like any other person and should not feel like they are hated. Now the choice is up to you. Do you want this war to go on into your child generation or do you want to adopt a policy that could finally bring peace to everyone and maybe make the world and safer place to live in?
Since the dawn of time, war has been fought to achieve peace, but more specifically peace with foreign nations. While heroic men and women lay down their lives for such a noble cause, domestic peace is threatened every day. Bigots, racists, and sexists all contribute to the ever-constant violence within our borders. Too many people live in fear: fear of predatory men, fear of embracing themselves, fear of what others would do to them because of their race or religion. The United States is supposed to be a land of freedom and opportunity, for all of its citizens to have access to, as outlined by both the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Additionally, America was founded on the idea that all men are created equal. However, through
Humans throughout history have proven to be a very aggressive species. They disagree with one another, which might lead to conflict, and if the conflict is big enough, war. There have been many great battles and wars in the past, but one of the most controversial and protested wars in human history was the Vietnam War. As World War II ended, the young males returned to their homes. They began families, which brought a significant number of new children into the world.
The two texts examined within, present the opposing extremes of views regarding gay and lesbian marriage. The first text entitled Let Gays Marry by Andrew Sullivan examines the intricacies of same sex relationships and why homosexual couples should be allowed to publicly show affection for one another. The second text that will be examined is titled Leave Marriage Alone written by William Bennett. Bennett gives his views on why couples of same sex nature should not be allowed to engage in marital relations. These two authors, although very different, each has a view of the ideals of marriage, and how it should be presented to the public.
"The historian Will Durant calculated that there have been twenty nine years in all of human history during which a war was not underway somewhere." (Hedges, 2003). In fact more than half of my lifetime has consisted of the United States, my country, being at war. It is sad to know that I have no experienced peace. It is also alarming because I, like my peers, have become somewhat immune and numb to war. We have come to think of it as just another issue going on, and do not really see it as the drastic event that it really is. It is something that is just there; just in the background.
War is on some level a game. Usually there is two sides, making moves and taking turns. The only difference is, there are no rules in war. War is a game without rules, without mercy, without emotion. Although certain situations require human emotion and interaction, war is most productive when all emotion is removed and as humans we just perform. Emotionless, robotic, cold, ruthless, and morally indestructible; these are the traits of the ultimate war culture. War on any level is impossible without first burying personal principals and destroying the moral compass.
Since homosexual couples cannot get married in certain states; some states allow civil unions. Civil unions were created in 2000 in Vermont to give some responsibilities and legal protection to homosexual couples (Wolfson). Recently, civil unions have been declared as ineffective because it has created a second class citizenship. A civil union does very little for homosexual couples and do...
War is used as a solution to a conflict; two countries that are not getting along usually fight each other for power or to show which is stronger. Many different things cause war, but it all starts with the government. A government that is hungry for power and money would do anything to get what it wants. The more power the government has, the more power they’ll want. Another cause of war is believed to be religion, different religions describe different ideas and understandings, but those different ideas are disagreements over many things. If a government didn’t like another’s idea it causes disagreement, and that means war.
Generally, war results from arguments between nations over things like land, power, money, or religion. War over religion contradicts religion itself. In the passage titled “On War”, James Boswell states, “That amiable religion which “proclaims peace on earth,” hath not as yet made war to cease.” If religion proclaims peace on earth, then war goes against those morals.
Wars have existed for many years; many communities are trying to find a way to put an end to it peacefully. People have created awards like the Noble Peace Prize
The word “War” sends shivers through many people because of the effect war has on individual groups or people, minorities, soldiers and the society.
Human conflict is among the most complex topics in the world. It has always occurred alongside the existence of humanity, and often it escalates to violence and warfare. This has been a cycle throughout history, and there has not been much evidence pointing to the end of it. With no foreseen end to this cycle combined with a population that has an ever expanding curiosity, humans have had to justify going to war. Individuals tend to be very passionate and emotionally connected to their beliefs and thus they enjoy being right. They have justified violence and war with this innate desire to be right, and for this reason they have become the most common method for resolving human conflict; but at what cost? Life. Unity. Respect. These are concepts
War has always been, and will always be, a necessary action perpetrated by the human race. There are many different reasons for war: rage, passion, greed, defense, and religion to name a few. When differences cannot be solved or compromised through mediation with an opposing party and anger burns with a fiery passion, war is the last remaining option. Obviously, the purpose of any war is to win. How are wars won? Perhaps if we were to ask a member of the Defense Department during the early stages of the war in Iraq, his answer might be, “To win this war we must force the enemy into submission by means of ethical warfare.” If we were to ask a marine in the Second World War what he was told by his commanding officer he would reply, “To close with the enemy and destroy him.” (Fussell, 763).
... Society needs to reevaluate the definition of love and the fact that all humans are created equal and should be able to love whomever they want to. There needs to be more laws and support for same-sex couples and gay marriage. Laws should be made to protect those who choose to love the person of the same-sex, and no discrimination against gays. Judging same-sex marriages should never be acceptable when including: health concerns, adoption, living conditions, job opportunities, ECT... Everyone should be able to love whoever they want and never let anything get into the way of that. In today’s society some people can't be with the person they truly love, because it is not society acceptable in most areas and it is too much of a struggle live like that on a daily basis. The world needs to open their eyes and realize that this is not acceptable under any circumstances.
Gay and lesbian unions have been for a long time a subject that no one liked to discuss. For the last few decades, gays and lesbians have come out and expressed their sexuality preferences. Many believe that same sex marriage should not be legalized because it's against the moral. It's against the definition of marriage, which is considered as the union of a man and a woman as a husband and wife. Same sex marriage should be legalized because the way society views the union of lesbian and gays can a change. Another reason why same sex marriage should be legalized is that children that are issued from a gay or lesbian couple will be loved and raised in a family that is legally recognized under the law. Lesbians and gays also deserve to have the same rights as heterosexuals.
War has been around for centuries. From the time modern civilizations began, war has played an integral part in human history. It shaped the world into the modern world we live in. War has been said to be a great motivator, for example, the Great Wall of China was built to fend off the attackers from the north. However, the negative aspects of war far outweighs any positive effects it might have. The destruction of civilizations, cities and countries, mass killings of men, woman and children alike, the disastrous effect it has on economy and the after effects of war can last for centuries.
