Lord of the flies The book’s title is ‘Lord of the flies’, one of the most famous novels written by William Golding published in 1954. The Genre of this book is novel. The author of this book, named William Golding is born in England September 19th, 1911. ‘When he was young he had interested in writing novels but his parent wanted him to study natural science. Golding followed parent’s opinion, so he went to the Oxford major in natural science until second year. After second year, he changed his major to English literature. After graduated, he work in this field as a theater actor, director and writer. In 1940, the Second World War occurred and he joined this war as a Navy. After experienced the Second World War, he wrote this great book, Lord of the Flies’.(Sparknotes) In this book, there are many characters. Since this book is about the lost kids in island because of the place crush, there are many children characters. Their names are Piggy, Ralph, Simon, Roger, Sam, Eric, Jack and Jack’s members. Main two characters are Ralph and Jack. Their characters are very different each other. Ralph is the leader in the island. Ralph wants to be rescue so he always thought rationally and made their own rules and obey it. He wanted to arrange their life until he rescue. Jack is the leader of the choir. Choir group has different idea from Ralph. Their group does not want the rational discussion. They want Song2 to adjust themselves to island life. Therefore they try to adopt the island lifestyle. They live for survive and act like an animal. Beside these two main characters, there are other characters. Piggy is Ralph’s friend. He always helps Ralph. Every chapter, these three boys, have demonstrated they have great behaviour on the island in comparison to the rest of the group. But it was tiring to constantly have an acceptable attitude because the other boys would not be so pleasant towards them. First, Ralph represented democracy, from the time he crash landed upon the sand, strategies on how to be rescued flowed in his head. He was introduced to the conch and from that point he assigned daily tasks and rules that would be completed so the island would not go insane such as creating shelter, where to dispose waste and if the conch was in your hands, you were able to speak. Next, Piggy represented scientific facts. he may lack in the athletic field, but his brain made up tremendously for that loss. In the first couple chapters, Ralph thought a fire would be beneficial in order to get rescued so, Piggy utilized his glasses, directed the lenses towards the sun and fire appeared. Thirdly, Simon represented the good on the island. All the young boys turned to Simon as their leader because Simon did not see age difference, he welcomed all with open arms. He also helped Ralph with the unstable shelters when the rest were distracted with antics, Simon is an overall warm hearted kid. These boys

The lack of civilization and human goodness leads the young children to evils and a bad environment that they have never faced. Simon, a “skinny, vivid boy, (pg. 24)” is a member of Jack’s choir but soon leaves his tribe and joins Ralph because he is not able to deal with the cruel leadership. As all the other characters fail to maintain responsibilities and their commitments to the rules of the island, Simon is the only person who dedicates to them as things begin to fall apart. Throughout the story Golding conveys a theme of how twisted and sick human nature can lead us to be. Many different parts of human nature can all lead to the collapse of society. In William Golding's Lord of the Flies a group of kids who are fleeing a war, plane crashes and they are stranded on a deserted island without Adult supervision. The first thing all the kids do is vote for a chief and Ralph, who is more responsible, wins over Jack. They are the choices because Ralph is the Colonel of the whole group and Jack is the oldest out of all the boys. As the story goes on and when Jack starts his own group all of the kids lose sight of their main goal, to be rescued. They're all having too much fun when they switch over to Jack's group hunting and killing for food. In the story there are four main characters that are in a sense the leaders of the crew. There's Piggy and a quiet Simon who do not possess the scrappiness that Ralph and Jack do. These strengths are what help Ralph and Jack survive. Piggy is always talking about how his Auntie would not let him do this or that and Simon was just a quiet, reserved kid who is regarded as weird just due to the fact that he is calm.
