William Golding was influenced by World War II because he joined the military, also because of his life in England before during and after the war. Throughout Goldings time in the military he accomplished many things, but he also witnessed plenty of horrors that almost definitely influenced him in the writing of Lord of the Flies. William Golding went to school at Oxford university where he studied English and ended up becoming a teacher and a writer. Golding wrote many stories through his life despite a lack of success. Goldings most successful novel was Lord of the Flies. It has been turned into multiple movies, just like the book these movies were both met with mixed reviews from critics. The story is about a group of schoolboys who are stranded on an abandoned island and have to survive, but also they must not lose themselves and become something they are not when they finally escape the island. The story was likely influence by many factors including his early life.

William Golding was born on September 19, 1911 in Cornwall, England. He was raised in a two parent household next to a graveyard(Gaydosik). His father, Alex, worked as a schoolmaster.His mother was a suffragette who fought for the rights for women to vote(Gaydosik) He went to school at the school his father taught at, known as Marlborough Grammar School. When he was just 12 years old he began writing a history based novel series that was intended to contain 12 volumes(Stade). When he failed at writing he became a bully he said he enjoyed hurting people. Later on his life his called his young self a brat(Sir William). William went to college in Oxford University. ...studied English and ended up becoming a teacher and a writer. William Golding novel Lord of the Flies is an incredible book and is a great legacy for anyone to have and it is what most people will remember him by. William Golding lived a full life up until his death in 1983.
