“Buzz off! I don’t care whether you get injured or not, just get out of my way!” Acer, who looks like a manipulated marionette, moved his body ridiculously while shouting thunderously and emerged from the crowd of hallway. Thankfully, all the other researchers had to drew themselves right against the wall. He—with the working clothes that makes him look comparably shorter— stirred his stubby fingers in the air and moved a big stone in the laboratory. Even though Acer invented this equipment that allows people to move heavy objects without touching few months ago, the equipment was struggling to move the heavy stone. Due to his red hair, he looked a lot like a thin maple tree. Unlike Acer’s gaunt look, his cave echo-like deep voice spoke. “Look what I found!” “What is this huge stone?” Amanda, who understands Acer’s prodigious talent though his geeky personality, took off the white gloves and mask then asked. “Nice observation there. Yes, this is a gigantic stone called, Trovant. I took him from Costesti of Romania. But, what would you say if this guy has growth ring and grows by rain?” “I would ask whether this is a tree, but I can tell. This isn’t even a tree, right?” “Yes, the surface is the sand and center is composed of rock. Here, take a look at this.” The screen of Acer’s device showed the statistics and results of the composition. Amanda examined the data with furrowing her brows for a while and asked. “I get all the chemical composition, but what is this one labeled with question mark over here?” “Well, I am not sure about that. Since that didn’t show on the device that great-Acer invented, I surmise it’s a composition that has never been discovered. I guess discovery of this composition will be a key to unlock the riddle ... ... middle of paper ... ...ust like an ignited fire. Then, Acer walked toward the biggest Trovant and poured the content in the beaker. He knew that the Trovant would expand awfully, so that he ran away like a mouse with a fire on his tail. Amanda giggled at the Acer’s coward behavior and chased his back. Also, the several researchers who followed Acer and Amanda chased their back without knowing the reason. Few minutes later, they witnessed the Trovant getting bigger. Its speed of growth ascended their imagination and soon, it became a size of a mountain. Then the center of Trovant cracked and acute and red tentacles emerged from it. “Sir, as I check it with my detector, it is a living thing.” The number of red tentacles surprisingly increased and the organisms Acher never witnessed before swarmed from the Trovant. Acer and Amanda looked each other in great fear. “Amanda… What have I done?”
" What is it " I asked looking at them in concern. Voltaire pushes them out the door and hushes them. He brought back a small piece of armor and I looked in the reflection.
Don Aker makes the novel The First Stone very interesting and intriguing without question because of his effective writing style. He uses simple, understandable, yet powerful vocabulary to draw the reader into each moment of the plot. The sentence structure was not very complex, but I think it was quite appropriate for a teenager to read. The use of the third- person omniscient point of view in the novel really helps the reader experience the story on a more personal level. The author’s narrative voice takes the front seat, and one is able to get inside the mind of the protagonist – Reef, a teenager who is piecing together the puzzle that is his life, gradually delving into deeper emotions and relationships with important characters and figures in the novel. The characters in the text Reef and Leeza are teenagers who have gone through some difficult events in their young lives. The reader is able to relive their memories and experiences, with flashbacks that Don Aker incorporates in the novel. The climax of the story develops quite naturally, with a sense of cohesiveness that is clearly present. As each chapter passes the reader has been give some insight about Leeza as the author throughout the novel, has moved back and forth between the perspectives of the two principal characters. Little by little, as time progresses, a turn of events causes the two main characters to be in the same place, in which Reef would change both their lives forever. By making two teenagers as the main focal points of the novel, the author really wants the target audience to feel a connection, and relate the novel to their lives or someone they...

Cao Xueqin’s Story of the Stone is a classic in Chinese literature, showcasing the life and exploits of the wealthy Jia clan during the feudal era. Through Cao’s depiction, the reader is afforded a glimpse into the customs and lifestyle of the time. Chinese mode of thought is depicted as it occurred in daily life, with the coexisting beliefs of Confucianism and Taoism. While the positive aspects of both ideologies are presented, Cao ultimately depicts Taoism as the paramount, essential system of belief that guides the character Bao-yu to his eventual enlightenment.

Blasts echoed, rumbling throughout the canyon. The head of the snake lurched as the violent force plunged it over the rocks and into the creek.

“I never realized until this moment how cut off I am.” (Laurence, 1988, 294) In the novel The Stone Angel, author Margaret Laurence portrays a lonely old woman by the name of Hagar. Over the course of the novel, Hagar reflects back on the memories that have created the story of her life. Hagar is a deeply lonely woman, and much of that loneliness is self-inflicted. This mental isolation is caused by her stubbornness, her pride, and the blindness that she has towards any opinion other than her own.

Stone says, “Standing…is the authority of someone to initiate an action. The term in its narrower common use is probably limited to the right of nongovernmental parties to institute judicial review, which will be our principal focus” (35). Writing with an audience of environmentalists and environmental lawyers in mind, he argues to put Nature in the plaintiff’s seat and allow all of nature – animal, vegetable, and mineral – to have legal standing in order to claim rights on their own behalf. Historically, the judiciary accepted only complaints where human beings could stake claim to violation of rights, on their own behalf as well as for non-humans and other property either owned or affected (injured) by as a citizen. In the case of Nature and non-humans Stone says this is a mistake linked to the three elements necessary for establishing standing. Namely, that citizens and organizations cannot suffer injury-in-fact which thus means there can be no causal link to an injury nor any injury that requires redress.
In The stone goddess by Minfong Ho, The reason I picked this book to read is because I thought it was interesting. The little introduction on the back had caught my attention. I was surprised when Mr Ho had put “ A cruel rebel army takes control of Cambodia.” It made me thought of my grandparents who were running away from the Vietnamese people (HO). The stone goddess is about Two Cambodian sisters, Teeda and Narkri, who loves dancing but then was forced to stop dancing when a cruel Army came and took them and the whole village lying to them about an attack. These two girls and many other kids around their ages were sent to another field to harvest for their family and build houses for themselves. They worked day and night, gotten hurt to the
