Everyone has a place where they go to escape the pressures and the worries of their hectic lives. There’s always that one place that you can go to, to clear your head and soothe your problems away when you are stressed. For me that place is the beach, it is my ultimate cure for stress. When I’m there, all my worries and obligations are suddenly lifted and I feel calm and free. Thoughts of living at a beach house, for most of us, bring about images of clear blue skies and beautiful tropical blue beaches as we dream up fantasies of ultimate relaxation and well-being. Living near sea has many health benefits, firstly, there’s no traffic no noise, the air is not polluted and research tells us that the sound of waves alters the wave patterns in the brain, soothing you into a deeply calm and relaxed state. Relaxing this way helps revitalize your mind and body. But the sound of the waves is just one of the health benefits of ...
The whole island is in the shape of a giant square with white sandy beaches full of people sunbathing, swimming and fishing right on the shoreline. From the end of the hot pavement parking lot to shore of the beach is an ocean of soft white sand. The pearlescent white sand seems to know how to invade every nook and cranny almost as if it enjoys it. Walking around the beach on the fluffy whiteness surrounding the parking lot, the seagulls are fighting over scraps of food on the ground. “Sandy beach ecosystems provide invaluable services to humankind. Their functions have been exploited through history, with significant anthropogenic effects (Lucrezi, 2015)”. This white sandy beach is a beautiful refuge from the mundane grind of everyday life. The smell of the misty ocean air mixed with the sound of seagulls hovering above and kids playing is a tonic for the mind. The feel of the sand between their toes and the waves crashing over them as people swim in the water, or the jerk of a fishing pole when someone is catching a fish makes Fred Howard Park one of the best places to relax. Standing on the beach looking out on the water, people are kayaking and windsurfing. The lifeguards watching vigilantly in their bright red shirt and shorts, blowing their whistles when they see someone being unsafe. After a long day of swimming and laying around visitors head back over the soft white sand to the showers, in order to rinse off the menacing sand that clings to everything like a bad habit. Everyone rushes over the hot pavement burning their feet to reach their cars so they can put away their beach paraphernalia which is still covered in the white sand, nearly impossible to completely leave behind, so when they get home it serves as a reminder of where they were that
Semaphore Beach is affected by many factors such as natural processes and human impacts including marine litter and the discharge of stormwater. Therefore, several plans have been employed to ensure that the coast is supported through the method of counteracting erosion. However in the future, many management strategies have been put into consideration as well as the environmental, economic and social impacts as well as the predicted consequences. These impacts include traffic related incidents, noises and air pollution and the disruption of wildlife and the erosion of dunes. A method that should be considered for future management of the beach is the use of a concave sea wall, although efficient, this structure would be quite costly. Without the use of coastal management, Semaphore Beach would be unsupported, therefore negatively being affected by a variety of
The California coastline is full of many beautiful beaches and breathtaking views. One of these places is the Santa Monica Pier, which is one of the oldest piers in California and has a rich history of change and resilience in spite of many challenges to its survival. If you arrive early in the morning before tourists swarm the amusement park side of the pier, the charm and nostalgia of the wooden pier transport you to a different kind of life, where nothing feels more important than the creak of the wooden planks beneath your feet, the fresh salty air, and the ocean that stretches out endlessly in front of you. Santa Monica
Eastern Point Beach divides into four different parts: the beach, the park, the snack bar (concession stand), and the athletic areas. I began my observation at Eastern Point Beach by walking along the beach. As the sand seeped through my toes I reminisced on the fun times me and my family had here. My family and I would go to the beach almost every Wednesday because my parents did not have to work, and I always returned home as red as a lobster. I then turned my attention towards the many families laying on their beach towels; everyone appeared to be in peace and serenity. A couple of individuals had beach chairs, but the majority of individuals laid on beach towels. I stopped for a moment to take in the sun and to look at the unique sea shells
To find my beach, Smith says the ad instructs a person to “focus”. “Everything that is not absolutely necessary to your happiness has been removed from the visual horizon”. In order to find my beach, I have to “pursue happiness actively” and find the mindset that will allow me to do this. Smith narrates the
Additionally, the beach is a creative environment and one of survival. The beach is where the boys formulate their best ideas for survival, such as building shelters, and maintaining a fire for heat and to signal ships.
“There’s no place like home.” Today’s society entails a very complex and tiresome environment that often leaves the average person worn out and drained. Many would say that the best part of their evening is arriving at home and being able to relax in their warm, inviting households. Finally being able to “get off one’s feet” and enjoy that feeling of relaxation that reminds them, “There’s no place like home”. But what makes a house a home? Is it the location, and how close it is to the local market? Perhaps it’s the marble tiling and wood countertops in the kitchen. Or, maybe it’s the size of the bedrooms and dining rooms finely furnished and decorated to the heart’s content. While all of the...

On the Gulf Coast Of Florida sits Rosemary Beach, a planned community. The Town was founded in 1995, and spans 105 acres (42 hectares). Rosemary Beach has over 400 homesites, and a city centre with shops and restaurants. Not surprisingly, relaxing and enjoying the warm outdoors are popular pastimes in this community. Its residents like to swim or soak up the sun at the beach, go fishing, and go biking. Heading to the spa for mani or a facial is also a popular activity, as is shopping at the independent stores in town. There’s plenty to do in Rosemary Beach, and it’s all within walking distance!
It took little time to go there (the nearest beach is just in front of the hotel). We then ran to the beach passing through all the people that was already there. As we were getting closer to a vacant tend, we could smell the characteristic essence of beach (which is mainly because of the salty water). We contemplated the beautiful picture of the boats and windsurfers, with a big blue ocean in the background. Then we started eating some potatoes we had bought at the minimarket, which was located next to our hotel. We had also bought some sodas, which we drunk while we feed the seagulls near to us. After a long day having fun at the beach, we observed the beautiful sunset at 6pm. And finally, decided to come back to our
Golden sunlight trickled into the master bedroom of their beachfront house. They’d just purchased it a month ago, but it already felt like home. It was not fancy, nor large – there was an upstairs and downstairs, two bedrooms, two bathrooms (“With room to add on!” their relator had chirped), but the wraparound deck on the upper-level and the incredible water views from the floor-to-ceiling windows had convinced Percival and Gwaine this was the place for them.
As the hot sun shined down on my white bare skin, the warm breeze made my blonde hair move with the wind, the crystal clear water relaxed my mind, the steaming hot white sand burned the bottom of my feet, and the place where I can relax and only see good in the world. This is the beach. My experience exploring Turks and Caicos opened my eyes to a world I did not know existed.
As I walk towards the ocean with the sand warm beneath my feet, the waves lap at my ankles, seeming as if they want to pull me out to sea. The sun rises over the horizon, reflecting off the waves and shimmering like gold. The salt air smells tangy as it stings my nose with the smell I crave while I am away from the ocean. The Outer Banks in North Carolina has been my favorite place to go from my first memories. I look forward to going there every summer because there at the ocean I feel at home. It is a place where I can forget every stress in my life and be totally at peace. It is a place where my family can spend time together, not like at home where we all have activities and places to be. The Outer Banks is not a beach where the ocean is forgotten; there is no partying and no boardwalks, nothing but nature to fill your days there. The beach is not crowded to the point where it is hard to even walk to the beach ,and looking for shells is not even an option. This beach is a very peaceful and surreal place. The noises of people do not overwhelm you at this beach; all you can hear are the sea gulls and the waves.
Surfers, swimmers and sunbathers use beaches for recreation. People fish off beaches for food. Since many people take their vacations at the beach, lots of beaches in tropical locations are important to their country’s economy. Entire cities, regions and countries depend on the money tourists spend while visiting the beach. Beaches are naturally very dynamic places, but people try to control them and build permanent structures, such as houses, restaurants, shops and hotels, on or near the shore. The natural erosion and deposition of beaches becomes a problem. Beaches con disappear over time, or even over night during severe storms. Beaches are areas of loose sediment (sand, gravel, cobbles) controlled by ocean processes. Most beaches have several characteristic features. First are offshore bars, which help protect beaches from erosion. Next is the foreshore, which rises from the water toward the crest of the next feature; a berm. On low-lying shores, dunes form behind beaches. Dunes look like rolling hills of sand and are blown into place by the wind. New, smaller dunes are often changing shape as the wind continues to affect them. Waves and currents move the accumulated sediment constantly creating, eroding and changing the coastlines.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
