As an art form, opera is a rare and remarkable creation. For me, it expresses aspects of the human drama that cannot be expressed in any other way, or certainly not as beautifully.-Luciano Pavarotti
Even though I consider myself to be an eclectic person with widespread musical tastes I cannot say that I have sampled every genre there is but I hope to remedy that by listening to any type of music presented to me with an open mind and open heart.
The individual that I have chosen to write my music writing assignment about is Luciano Pavarotti who was in my opinion the greatest opera singer of the twentieth century. but I must be honest with you I have never heard this musician sing until I was bored one day and started trying to discover new genres of music to listen to and I typed in his name on google and that website then directed me to YouTube and then I typed in his name there and since I knew of a few composers I typed in Ave Maria and his name and when the video finished loading and I heard that calm, soothing voice come out of such an imposing man I was captivated and since then I have been hooked on opera.
Luciano Pavarotti was born in Medona, Italy on October 12, 1935 under the astrological sign Libra which means balance. He was the son of Fernando Pavarotti a baker and amateur tenor, his mother was named Adele Venturi and she was a cigar factory worker. He was an only child and although he says that he has great memories of his childhood the family was very poor. So his earliest musical influences were his father’s tape recordings and because of this at age nine he began singing with his father in the local church choir. He also was taught by a professor Dondi and his wife but he had no interest in singing at that time....
