The Life of Tommaso Masaccio
Tommaso Masaccio known as a world famous renaissance painter; had nothing but a successful career and a short, but fulfilling life. Masaccio started out as a young painter finding out what he wanted to do in life, he developed artistic skills along with other artists, and he created many beautiful and famous paintings. Even though Masaccio did not live for very long, his memory and successful paintings are still admired today.
Masaccio was born on December 21, 1401. His father Ser Giovanni di Mane and his mother Monna La Copa raised him. His brother Giovanni was also a painter and did several inept paintings. Masaccio was born in San Giovanni Valdarno and later moved to Florence Italy where he could have a better career in art. It is a portrait of the young wife of a Florentine silk merchant. It shows a young woman with her famous smile sitting on a balcony high above a landscape.
Matteo Carcassi was a famous Italian guitarist and composer. Carcassi first studied the piano, but learned guitar when still a child. He spent most of his time in Paris, but in 1823 he performed concerts that made him famous as a guitarist and a teacher. His talents were not recognized in Paris partly due because Fedinando Carulli was there at the time.
There have been many artist who have risen to popularity in the land known as Mexico and there are many who also have become world renown. Heremenegildo Bustos not only was the pride of his town, but historically eventually became known as one of the best Mexican artist of the turn of the Century. Although Bustos was mainly a portraitist he had a superb ability in creating retablos and exvotos which he became well known for.

His father was a banker and was looking to his son to engage in his businesses. As a young boy, he has ambitions of becoming a sculptor, but his father was very discouraging of this. Michelangelo and his father got into a series of arguments until eventually they arranged for him to study under Ghirlandaio at the age of thirteen. Ghirlandaio watched Michelangelo work and recognized his talent for the art and recommended him into an apprenticeship for the Medici family palace studio after only one year of at the workshop. Dishonesty is an evil of various forms. More often than not, it sullies understanding in the form of a simple lie: short, deliberate, yet easily enough deductible. However, say the lie is taken into acceptance. Say the lie garners a foothold and establishes roots; thus, growing like a weed in persistence, say the lie institutes a sort of ‘myth.’ A myth, although unrealistic, becomes indulgently persuasive. In To Each His Own, Leonardo Sciascia weighs the battle for integrity in an ethically empty society against the oppression of falsehood within a Christ figure whose faith in morality likens to madness. Laurana is challenged not only by the lies of certain individuals, but more importantly by the myth his trust succumbs to in the wake of those lies. As one transcends beyond the novella’s simple plotline and into an underlying critique on Sicilian chivalry, Sciascia provides a social commentary on the ethos of a culture, it’s self-indulgent permittance of corruption, and the brutal demeaning of those who stand in opposition to it.

Pico della Mirandola was an Italian Philosopher and a humanist. A lot of people would consider Pico della Mirandola an ideal man of the Italian Renaissance. Pico really helped the Renaissance, he made a huge impact on a lot of other philosophers, and a lot of other philosophers influenced him. Pico della Mirandola once stated,“Whatever seeds each man cultivates will grow to maturity and bear in him their own fruit. If they be vegetative, he will be like a plant.”(BrainyQuote). Pico della Mirandola was the biggest influence on Renaissance philosophy because of his book, Oration on the Dignity of Man, his 900 theses, and his religious impact.

Leonardo is talented and has made many contribution throught his life. He did so many things such as painting, anatomy , mechanics, and architecture. He did was a painter, a sculptor as well as an architect, excelling in all areas from a young age. Michelangelo’s art was a symbol of the Florence people’s cultural and political power and superiority. Michelangelo thought of himself as a divine being, meaning he thought he was perfection and no one could ever compare. To this day through, in terms of his art, this may hold some truth depending mostly on opinion. He created some of the most magnificent, and most sought after pieces of all time. Some of them are still around today for us to witness including Michelangelo’s Pieta, and one of his most famous Michelangelo’s David.
During the 15th century, Europe started to have different cultural traditions that impacted the type artwork of artwork that was produced. There are several elements that have evolved during this time. Two artworks will be compared so that we will be able to evaluate how various techniques that are used can be used to portray the meaning of the painting as well as how the audience views the scene as well. One of the paintings that we will compare is a Annunciation panel (from the Merode Triptych), which was painted by Robert Campin in 1426. This painting will be compared to Holy Trinity, which was created by Masaccio in 1425. By comparing these two paintings, we will get a sense of what themes and ideals were valued during this time period.

Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in a small town in Italy called Vinci which was in the territory of Florence. His parents were Ser Piero and Caterina, who was a peasant girl. They were never married so he was considered an illegitimate child. So shortly after his birth, Ser Piero, a 25 year old notary, took custody of him. His parents each married other people and kept having children, giving Leonardo 17 half sisters and brothers. Growing up with his father in Florence, the aristocratic and artistic center of Italy, he was given the best education the city could offer. In 1466, when he was 15 his father sent him to be an apprentice to Adrea del Verrocchio, who was a famous painter and artist of that time. As an apprentice he was taught many things such as painting altarpieces and panel pictures to creating sculptures with marble and bronze. During his time as an apprentice he shocked his master with his tremendous talent. In fact he is admitted to the painter’s guild of Florence in 1472 even though he was still Verrochio’s assistant.
His artworks are by far the most popular pieces of art that are in museums to this day. Recently a popular painting “Salvator Mundi”, painted between 1490-1500, has been placed up for auction and it is estimated that the painting will sell for at least $100 million. This is just one of 16 surviving paintings that have made it through the years, and it’s not even the most popular one. The Mona Lisa is the most popular painting by anyone to this very day. It was painted in the year 1503 and is famous for multiple reasons.

Therefore, when people today refer to him as “Leonardo da Vinci”, “da Vinci” actually means “from Vinci” in Italian. His talent for painting was recognized by his family and neighbors when he was still a boy, and he started his painting career at a very young age. At 14, he was sent to Florence by his father to learn from Verrocchio, who owned a leading workshop at the time. It is said that when he cooperated with Verrocchio on the Baptism of Christ, his skill was so much finer than his master’s that Verrocchio quit in the middle and never painted again for his whole life. 1
