Legalize Medical Marijuana Now

An amazing drug has slowly started being recognized by many for its amazing healing qualities. This drug is cheap to make, has almost no side effects, and can help treat hundreds of medical disorders including multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), AIDS, chronic migraines, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, cerebral palsy, seizures, hepatitis, and almost all forms of cancer, just to name a few. This amazing drug has only one thing stopping it from helping millions of people suffering from all different types of illnesses—its use is illegal. That’s right, the drug that could help millions with so many varying diseases is illegal in over half of all the United States as well as being completely illegal under United States federal law. How can this be? How can a drug that is capable of helping so many people be illegal? The reason is because this amazing miracle drug is medical marijuana. Although some people may argue that medical marijuana is not supported by the medical community and using marijuana can cause many different side effects, it should be legalized because it has been medically used for thousands of years, has many benefits proven through medical trials, and can be used to relieve the effects of many different afflictions.
Very few hot button topics in this world garner as much debate as the legalization of medical marijuana. Recent polls put the country divided right down the middle with 50 percent of people supporting legalization of marijuana for medical use and 50 percent of people opposing it (Caulkins, Hawken, Kilmer, & Kleiman, 2012).
