Throughout this essay I have learned more than I have in my four years of high school English. Being able to learn so much information in such a little time was amazing to me. I learned different kind of rhetorical styles to write in, what each ones purpose is, how to have online discussions with other peers and lastly I learned how to improved my writing skills in general. A major lesson that I learned was to use different rhetorical styles when writing to help make your paper make more sense and seem more together. There are tons of different types of rhetorical styles that you can add to a paper but the ones that I enjoyed using this semester were clear, swift or sweet. I loved writing in a clear style because it was simple and did not take a lot of thought process. I also liked swift styles because it was short and to the point. The sweet style is something that I actually enjoyed writing in because it was something to please other people and not just myself. Another type of style that I loved to write with was comparison. I liked writing comparison papers because it gave you not only one subject to write about but two, which would make it easier to come up with information to write about. Logos, Pathos and Ethos are always throughout my essays and I have always tried to put at least one of two in every paragraph I write in my papers. When writing for specific purposes it always helps to pick certain rhetorical styles that go along with your subject. When I would decide to write about something personal I would make sure to use Pathos to get the hearts of my readers. I tend to use this strategy the most because it is something that happened to come easy to me. Whenever I would have to write about something I research I woul... ... middle of paper ... ...o do with a topic I enjoy talking about, other than that I hate having to go on the internet and search for good resources to add to my paper. In the end, this semester has really helped me out with my writing skills. It opened my eyes to the simple fact that writing does not always have to be miserable and boring. Having the right subject to write about can make or break your attitude about the papers you have to write, personal ones were never something that I would dread to write. Learning how to incorporate rhetorical styles into my papers really did help spice them up and make them more interesting. The online discussions showed me how to be more outgoing and reach out to other people to help edit my paper and return favors in the end. Over all this English class has changed my outlook on English in general and really did help me enjoy it a little bit more.
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
As I chose to take this class and better my writing skills at a college level, I knew this class was going to be difficult. With a total of four essays to write I knew I had to be on my game from the beginning. Throughout durations of this class, I have learned how to become more responsible, plan ahead of time, and how to become a better writer. With each mistake made i have been able to learn and improve. An Ad Analysis, Comparative Analysis, Narrative, and an Argumentative Essay are the four papers we had to write for the course.

I believe this semester helped my writing, and I think that is clear from the progression through each paper. When writing my first paper “A Rhetorical Analysis of Juan Enriquez’s Ted Talk” I felt unconfident in my skills as a writer, as they hadn’t been used for around a year. It shows unfortunately in the overall quality of the piece, and I remain unsatisfied with it. I was unsure of the concepts I was trying to argue, and the points I was trying to make, and having to analyze a video proved to be a difficult task for me. As a whole I think the paper shook me at the beginning of the semester and impacted the quality of my notes (Or lack there of), and my course attendance.
In this English course for the past semester, I have learned many new forms of essays and many new techniques. There was much more conversation with my classmates this year and I believe that lead me to a better class experience and grade. The essays have also taught me many new skills that can help me in the future. The rhetorical analysis, Causal Argument, and Proposal essay have taught me many new writing techniques and the advantages of peer review.
This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. Throughout this essay, I will discuss my failures, my successes, my overall performance in the class, and my skill development skills.
Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 101 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. This was my first college writing course and it has given me much more freedom when writing because in high school I felt limited and like what we were writing was not very important. In high school I would write essays to just to fulfill the required word or page count and to a degree I still feel like this but maybe that is why I am an engineering major but in this course I actually was able to express my ideas and for the first time really test the limits of my writing capabilities. I really enjoyed being able to incorporate my voice more in my essays and I believe that I developed my own personal style a bit from this. At the beginning of the semester my writing was quite choppy and there was plenty of room for improvement in the overall flow of my essays. Now, I use several different tactics such as outlining to create better connections between paragraphs. I believe I was able to move beyond many of the high school ways of writing and make general improvements to my essays.
In taking English 1A this semester, I have grown significantly in my writing and critical thinking skills. In addition, I have learned to execute and understand the main steps of how to write a college level paper and to break down a piece of text into the four rhetorical features; purpose, audience, context and rhetorical appeals.
Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. I was forced to change my thought process, view towards writing, and evaluate my own work over the semester. English 1010 was my first college writing course and it provided me with more freedom than I previously had in high school. During my senior year in high school especially I always felt limited and the topics we wrote about were not relevant. I really enjoyed being able to incorporate my voice in each essay and I believe I developed more of a personal style as time progressed. Lastly by completing this course I accomplished my goal which was to learn the tools needed to produce well written work and become a better writer.
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the time restraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I have. Strangely enough, I?ve found the college English experience to be much more rewarding and enjoyable than in high school.
Personally, I believe that I have gained valuable knowledge in my English classes. Recently, I am about to end my third English course of college and it has been a good experience, those courses helped and influenced a lot in my writing. I believe I did more than just improve my writing skills. I received some rhetorical and genre knowledge, and learned about the writing process and how to appropriately enter a conversation without losing my own style of writing.
As a college student, I took the first seminar course in order to improve my writing skills. In this semester, we focused on the relationship between human identity and technological process by reading, discussing and writing different papers. Obviously, my writing skills have been improved a lot. In this paper, I will first go through the skills I mastered before college and then discuss the writing skills that I learned from this semester.
Whether you are a student, a researcher, a businessman or a management trainee, your work will keep putting your writing skills to test. Writing is considered unavoidable in any field that you can think of. If you possess this skill up to an appropriate extent, it is extremely beneficial for you. Or if you find yourself weak when it comes to writing reports, essays or term papers, your weakness can be eliminated to a great extent using proper writing tools available for the struggling writers. Not only immature writers bag advantage of such tools but even expert writers and authors are very much attracted to these tools as these tools allow them to enhance their writing skills at any level.
A mentally disabled but diligent female high school student attends a tutoring session at the learning center to work on a classroom writing assignment. Despite encouragement and prompts from the tutor, the student is unable to write. She states that she hates writing and declares that she will take a zero for the grade rather than complete the assignment.
During the course of the semester, all of the writing and research skills I developed helps to strengthen my self-confidence in many areas and it aids me in achieving my goals for the future. By developing more effective research approaches for finding and citing sources, I advanced from an inexperienced writer to a confident writer with the suitable knowledge to create effective essays to capture my audience. Having confidence in my abilities to use the skills I learned will help me to become a success in college. With more practice and valuation of my strengths and weaknesses, I can continue to improve and become an excellent communicator in the future.
