Trauma patients
I am currently taking a EMT course through Copper Mountain College. We have had to study trauma and medical cases. I would like to share with you in detail some of the cases that we have studied first ill introduce you to some of the assessments that have to be done before we begin.
For a trauma patients especially one whose injuries are serious-time must not be wasted at the scene. This patient needs to get to a hospital as quickly as possible. On the other hand, enough time must be spent at the scene to assess the patient adequately and give proper emergency care.
A trauma case can range anywhere from a broken bone to death. Traumatic injuries are the result of an outside forces acting on the body. Falls, vehicle collisions, and violence are just a few causes of trauma. It all depends on the mechanism of injury, meaning what caused the accident.
My first trauma patient is a male patient, he has stopped at an ATM machine near his house.
Rushing to make a committee meting, he didn’t notice the man watching him from a short distance away. As soon as he gets his cash, the man dashes in and attempts to grab it. The man who well call Rick, briefly resist and receives a stab wound in the abdomen.
On arrival of the emt they see a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood near his abdomen and back. with a few of his guts purtruding from his abdomen this looks serious. Blood is everywhere and his skin looks as if it had been stretched and pulled till it tore. The skin is blue and red, very swollen and bruised. Rick is screaming for help. As best as possible the emt bandages the wound and loads him up for transport. On the way to the hospital Rick stops breathing. Turning blue and white at the mouth the emt tries CPR. After regaining his breathing they continue to the hospital. A week later Rick recovers fully.
The next type of patients are medical patients. An example of this would be a case like, one afternoon, an elderly man whose stomach hurts, calls 911. There is no apparent mechanism of injury. This man just appears ill so as far as we can tell he could just have the flu. We as emts would assess him to find out more information the proceed to the hospital.

It is unfortunate that accidents that result in injuries are a part of life. Further more it is also unfortunate that often the party responsible for said accident do not feel compelled to offer compensation to the party affected. However in spite of this, there is still hope for the injured party thanks to personal injury lawyers. They are tasked with representing their clients who suffered from these events while making sure that their clients receive the compensation that they deserve. Ultimately personal injury lawyers play a big role with regards to safety initiatives by helping those injured, which is something that we all should aspire to do.
Life is not a contest between each and every person, but a test. Just because someone believes that always making a decision that is in the best interest of themselves is right doesn’t mean that they are out to make the decision that worsens others around them. Personal ethical egoism is the idea that people should act in the best interest of themselves. I believe in altruism and that ethical egoism is an unacceptable theory because it’s proven to be inconsistent and incoherent.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in the year 1980 we had approximately 501,900 persons incarcerated across the United States. By the year 2000, that figure has jumped to over 2,014,000 prisoners. The current level of incarceration represents the continuation of a 25-year escalation of the nation's prison and jail population beginning in 1973. Currently the U.S. rate of 672 per 100,000 is second only to Russia, and represents a level of incarceration that is 6-10 times that of most industrialized nations. The rise in prison population in recent years is particularly remarkable given that crime rates have been falling nationally since 1992. With less crime, one might assume that fewer people would be sentenced to prison. This trend has been overridden by the increasing impact of lengthy mandatory sentencing policies.
Timeliness in medical care can be of the utmost importance. Letting things progress can result in a slippery circle, where a minor infection, untreated end up being life threatening. With increased damage caused by neglecting health care, or waiting on a health care provider, the physical damage, and costs associated increase, often exponentially.

In summary, many argue that the use of animals for entertainment and gaming is cruel because animals kept for entertainment are often misused and kept in squalid cages. Also, conditions of the captive animals are often painful, and may lead to attacks on humans. Others believe that the use of animals is justified because the animals are well-treated and because the activities have cultural or economic importance. The current patient may be experiencing a range of traumatic injuries after his accident, the injuries that the paramedic will focus on are those that are most life threatening. These injuries include: a possible tension pneumothroax or a haemothorax, hypovolemic shock, a mild or stable pelvic fracture and tibia fibula fracture.
