John Grisham
John Grisham is the author that I look up to the most. If I could think of the books that I have enjoyed reading the most, the list would include many novels by Grisham. His writing style is very intelligent but yet he has this sense of action and urgency that he conveys in his novels that is, in lack of other words, awesome. He has been writing fiction law novels for a decent amount of time now and they keep on getting better and better.
John Grisham's books have been made into a couple of hit movies. I have not seen these yet but I was very excited once I heard that these movies have and will be produced. Grisham has shown that he can add a great deal of satire to his books without making his writing sound like it is supposed to make you laugh every ten seconds. In his books he shows that very serious situations can have satirical effect and very funny moments can have hints of seriousness. His writing keeps you in suspense even when your reading the last paragraph on the last page.
Influences during Grisham's childhood and adult life have helped to shape his writing career. His family moved around a lot during his early childhood. In his teenage years his family settled down in Southaven, Mississippi. Grisham found out soon after he went to high school that he was athletic and had a chance in sports. His opportunities lay in baseball and football. He went to Northwest Junior College after high school. After spending a year at Northwest he transferred to Delta State to play baseball.
Grisham started failing his classes at Delta State and he decided that baseball wasn't for him. He quickly changed majors to accounting and got another transfer, this one to Mississippi State. At Mississippi State Grisham started writing two books, which he never finished. He got his undergraduate degree in accounting and soon went on to take his law degree at the University of Mississippi.
John Grisham went on to practice law for 10 years after he got his degree specializing in personal injury litigation and criminal defense. He was elected into the House of Representatives and served from 1983 and stayed on until 1990. He started his third project in 1984 which he would finish in 1987 and it would be called "A Time To Kill".

Have you ever wondered why sport coaches have such a huge impact on their athletes? In Bleachers by John Grisham follows the main character, Neely, and all the situations that he encounters as his high school football coach, Coach Rake, is nearing death. This novel begins with Neely meeting his high school classmates after he injured his knee from a football game and disappeared from town for fifteen years. With the town proximity being rather small, almost everyone knew each other fairly well. The town had the same banker, Paul, a coffee shop that that each citizen frequents, and a football field named “The Field” that tens of thousands of citizens and fans visit every football season. Bleachers is a fairly well written novel because it contains possible events that may happen in modern reality such as the different series of events, the characters, and the conflict’s that are involved, but the novel is also semi-poorly written due to its flaws contained in its context.

One of the best, most valuable aspects of reading multiple works by the same author is getting to know the author as a person. People don't identify with Gregor Samsa; they identify with Kafka. Witness the love exhibited by the many fans of Hemingway, a love for both the texts and the drama of the man. It's like that for me with Kurt Vonnegut, but it strikes me that he pulls it off in an entirely different way.

Kurt Vonnegut is an impressive author who combines comic fiction and social satire in his novels. He often writes about the main character Kilgore Trout, who seems to be more like Vonnegut’s alter ego. He has written many books including Player Piano, Cat’s Cradle, Slaughterhouse Five, Galapagos, Bluebeard, and Fates Worse Than Death.
After returning from the war Vonnegut attended the University of Chicago as a graduate student in anthropology. In 1947 he moved to Schenectady, New York, where he began to work on his first novel, Player Piano (1952), as well as a number of remarkably varied stories that would appear throughout the next decade in such magazines as Collier's, Playboy, Esquire and Cosmopolitan.

He enjoyed rhetoric and public speaking and thought about being a lawyer but he did not think he was capable. He graduated from Harvard in 1755 with a BA degree. In John Grisham’s, Bleachers, this fiction story takes us through a small town in Messina, Mississippi. Everyone who is anyone attends their local high school football games. Thousands of locals come to the Friday night football games to watch the Messina Spartans play each week. Bleachers takes place in a present time setting in which former players talk about past games. The legendary coach of the Messina Spartans is getting close to the end while the former players await his death. Former players from different years are sitting on the bleachers of Rake Field talking about past games and memories. Because this is a fiction story, none of the characters or events are real. There are characters in this book that could portray real people, because the things these characters go through are common in today's world. Characters like Neely Crenshaw, an all-American whose career ends up short with a career ending injury. Then there is Coach Eddie Rake, a coach that leaves a legacy in a small town by making an unbelievable winning streak during his prime years. Almost everyone who played for Coach Rake hated his guts. Fictional characters in this book are believable. Even events like a coach who hits their athlete, and starts a brawl seem believable. Although this book is fiction, the majority of the events and characters could exist and are believable.
