Objectives/Goals
Everyone has heard stories of AI taking over the world, like The Matrix, but not many have heard how it can help our world. There are two main types of AI – rule-based and learning. However, learning systems require decades of effort and several million lines of code just to produce one that is semi-believable. On the other hand, current solutions for rule-based systems are clunky and slow and usually outdated. These systems also focus on content retrieval. My project aimed to create a new, scalable framework for general purpose use. The framework would allow for dynamic rules, which are rules that allow for commands to be executed. My project also aimed to create layers on top of the framework that would provide sample implementations of this.
Methods and Materials
I chose MySQL as a database system to store the rules for its speed in retrieving data. I set it up on a Linux LAMPP server for access from anywhere. This fair demo is on a Windows i7 server that I built from scratch. Without the internet not all features can be demonstrated.
Results
1. FRAMEWORK. I planned the framework and design, with the final version ending up more than 5,000 lines. I then designed layers to be placed on the framework as sample implementations. Finally, I tested the system for efficiency by asking all my friends to visit the application and by stress testing it. I tried CLIPS, a LISP-like rule-based expert system by NASA. I realized that it was too cumbersome to program rule structures in it. I also realized it was slow; query executions averaged around three secon...

... Conclusions/Discussion
The above results demonstrate the practicality of my rule-based system. I ended up creating a fast, scalable framework and also designed many examples of implementation. However, I found it nearly impossible to create a general framework. In each case, I was forced to alter it to the specific situation. I am a middle school student, and although I gave my best, I was unable to create a truly general framework. The creators of CLIPS were engineers at NASA who had worked on AI for their entire lives. They succeeded in creating a general framework but ended up creating a bulky, slow, sprawling mess. This technology has many applications, many of which can benefit the world. My framework can save companies millions upon millions of dollars and also can help save the lives of helpless elderly citizens.
The common element of the open source databases is the use of share data of student information. The common features used by the databases are their operating systems UNIX or Windows, as well as MYSQL database. The database used b...
A case referring to the beneficial use of the expert systems in the health sector was the attempt of the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake city,Utah to build “ the most complex artificial intelligence system ever created'; according to the words of DR David Classen. Its name was AIC or “Antibiotic Computer Consultant'; and it was part of HELP(Health Evaluation through Logical Processing), which was LDS’s hospital information system. The latter was existed, before the implementation of the Expert System.
This is especially true for the field of law. There is an important need in this field to remain organized in order for it to be successful. This task requires that billions of laws be filed in an efficient way so they can be accessed on a daily basis by lawyers and judges in order to formulate case arguments and decisions. Now that computers are an essential part of our business world, it seems obvious that some type of automation such as a software program should be introduced into the field of law to help remain organized. But beyond the simple computer program, what about the thought that the whole system itself could be automated? Believe it or not, this thought is already being discussed, and systems are already being designed for that purpose. In the following paper, I will talk about three different types of automation currently used or proposed for use in the legal system.
Artificial intelligence has come a long way since the first robot. In 1950, Alan Turing of Britain publishes, Computer Machinery and Intelligence. This book was proposed to be the birth of artificial intelligence as we know it. The first robot that presents the usage of artificial intelligence was built in 1969. The purpose of this robot was to try out navigation using basic tools such as cameras and bump sensors (Marshall 371). Since then, we have made a million robots way better than this one and we’re going to continue doing so. While the world advances, so is technology. It’s slowly progressing and become better and more reliable. Artificial intelligence is a certain type of technology that is resourceful to our nation. We are using it in the medical field, it’s been helpful to military forces, and it’s helping our world become a better place.
Medina provides insightful knowledge and great understanding of how brain development can be incorporated in leadership styles (why we do what we do in our daily lives) and how to incorporate how the brain works in-group settings of learning and teaching. The Brain Rules book focuses on twelve rules throughout the text which are exercise, human brain evolving, human brain wired differently, we do not pay attention to boring things, repeat to remember, remember to repeat, sleep, stress, stimulate senses, vision, gender, and exploration. I believe

One of the hottest topics that modern science has been focusing on for a long time is the field of artificial intelligence, the study of intelligence in machines or, according to Minsky, “the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by men”.(qtd in Copeland 1). Artificial Intelligence has a lot of applications and is used in many areas. “We often don’t notice it but AI is all around us. It is present in computer games, in the cruise control in our cars and the servers that route our email.” (BBC 1). Different goals have been set for the science of Artificial Intelligence, but according to Whitby the most mentioned idea about the goal of AI is provided by the Turing Test. This test is also called the imitation game, since it is basically a game in which a computer imitates a conversating human. In an analysis of the Turing Test I will focus on its features, its historical background and the evaluation of its validity and importance.
Despite the negative portrayal of AI in popular fiction, the evidence overwhelmingly supports the benefits that machines bring; automation creates new opportunities for human ingenuity. Our desire to develop increasing complex and intelligent machines is indeed led by the desire to improve our lives; to live healthier and longer lives, to explore the
Abstract: In the future, intelligent machines will replace or enhance human capabilities in many areas. Artificial intelligence is the intelligence exhibited by machines or software. It is the subfield of computer science. Artificial Intelligence is becoming a popular field in computer science as it has enhanced the human life in many areas. Artificial intelligence in the last two decades has greatly improved performance of the manufacturing and service systems. Study in the area of artificial intelligence has given rise to the rapidly growing technology known as expert system. Application areas of Artificial Intelligence is having a huge impact on various fields of life as expert system is widely used these days to solve the complex problems
Artificial intelligence(AI) is refer to as computer algorithms that show functions that represent intelligence or duplicate certain components and elements of intelligence (Novella, 2017). Computers are good at crunching numbers, running algorithms, recognizing patterns, and searching and matching data. Artificial intelligence is also defined as the stimulation of human intelligence, functioned or processed by machines, especially computer system (Rouse, 2016). These processes involved learning which means the acquisition of information and the rules for using the information, reasoning whereby using the rules to achieve approximate conclusions, and lastly is self-correction. AI has applications in almost every way we use computers in society (Smith, 2006).
This world of artificial intelligence has the power to produce many questions and theories because we don’t understand something that isn’t possible. “How smart’s an AI, Case? Depends. Some aren’t much smarter than dogs. Pets. Cost a fortune anyway. The real smart ones are as smart as the Turing heat is willing to let ‘em get.” (Page 95) This shows that an artificial intelligence can be programmed to only do certain ...
The case based reasoning system proposed here mimics the human decision making process by learning from previous experience and using the knowledge to solve current problem. This system will utilize previous adverse episodes and their solutions to prevent reoccurrences, and also to detect the oc...
In order to see how artificial intelligence plays a role on today’s society, I believe it is important to dispel any misconceptions about what artificial intelligence is. Artificial intelligence has been defined many different ways, but the commonality between all of them is that artificial intelligence theory and development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks that would normally require a human intelligence such as decision making, visual recognition, or speech recognition. However, human intelligence is a very ambiguous term. I believe there are three main attributes an artificial intelligence system has that makes it representative of human intelligence (Source 1). The first is problem solving, the ability to look ahead several steps in the decision making process and being able to choose the best solution (Source 1). The second is the representation of knowledge (Source 1). While knowledge is usually gained through experience or education, intelligent agents could very well possibly have a different form of knowledge. Access to the internet, the la...
Imagine asking your computer to do something in the same way you would ask a friend to do it. Without having to memorize special commands that only it could understand. For computer scientists this has been an ambitious goal; that can further simplify computers. Artificial Intelligence, a system that can mimic human intelligence by performing task that usually only a human can do, usually has to use a form of natural language processing. Natural language processing, a sub-field of computer science and artificial intelligence, concerns the successfully interaction between a computer and a human. Currently one of the best examples of A.I.(Artificial Intelligence) is IBM 's Watson. A machine that gained popularity after appearing on the show
There are expert systems that can solve complex problems that humans train their whole lives for. In 1997, IBM's Deep Blue defeated the world champion in a game of chess (Karlgaard, p43). Expert systems design buildings, configure airplanes, and diagnose breathing problems. NASA's Deep Space One probe left with software that lets the probe diagnose problems and fix itself (Lyons).
